Her crop is coming along nice, it all depends on when it was planted, quality of the soil and water . hers was planted ( not cast ) same as our crop by the looks . Fertilizing can be hard/heavy work and keeping the grass down between the fields is ok if you have a good brush cutter . I am lucky here because some of the cattle farmers need fresh grass for the cows so they come and cut it sometimes . I find the biggest hassle is keeping the water up to the rice and if there is to much rain then you have a wash out so sand bags are needed.

As is well known backpackers arrive with a $50 note and a clean shirt - and it's two weeks before they change either. 'Nuff said. Swiped and wiped with a crisp fresh shirt. Sorted.

My friend is back looking after her small farm, a couple of brown cows with floppy ears, some pigs, a few rai of rice , cassava,rubber and veg, she lives about 6km north of Buriram airport. Hard life up at 5 some mornings to go mushrooming, unlike my previous village which had a lot of water and they did a lot of fishing. I'm saddened that information regarding the passing of a lovely person many of us knew well has invoked some negative response, this actually reflects back on the BM's who obviously never knew her though chose to make such ignorant comments. Krit was a fantastic enthusiastic lively person, turned her back on the bright life & started up a dress making business. In the last 4 years she took care of her sick mother until she died last month. Krit went downhill fast after that. The cause of death was listed as lung disease, a medical fact & not a personal opinion. Again, sleep well bright girl.
