How does the term "customer" sit with you?

We have all heard the girls talk about meeting a customer, well cussomer is more like how it sounds.   From the first time I ever heard it just didn't sound right to me.  Being of a western mind set it was too much a reminder of what was actually going down I guess, that you are purchasing a commodity and ruins the illusion that she may actually like you as a person.  So how about you guys, does it sit well with you and are there other names you prefer or dislike?

I did much prefer being called Leo as opposed to cussomer, made me think OweSpy actually liked me

Customer is not the worst thing I've been called in my life - and it really doesn't bother me one bit. I suppose another word could be "punter", but that's a western word, also associated with horse racing and Ricky Ponting (former captain of the Aust cricket team) so I'll settle for customer.

Better than "Birdshit Falang" or Stupid Water Buffalo or some such other offensive animal affiliation.

I've heard this unflattering term (Birdshit Falang) used in reference to Falangs on several occasions.

I know some of us kid ourselves & think we are special & that "my girl is different" but the reality...haha!. I don't place much credence in Thai / Falang relationships long term & don't really give a shit what she thinks.

If she wants a tip it's in her interest to make sure it's something nice beyond that care factor "zero"

I had never heard the word punter until I went to Thailand and started hanging out and reading forums with guys from GB or of GB past influence. Not a term used in the US like much English slang.

At least it's better than "client", a term used by high-end escorts and which has always sounded too coldly corporate to me.

What really drives the point home about it being a business transaction is when you walk into a place to see a girl that you've been with before and want to see again, but the mamasan or another girl says, "She with a customer.  Wait."  The soiboy does not do "wait"...

I'm very happy with the term, and I try to keep it in conversation throughout any time with a hooker.  Maybe we like each other.  I hope so. I try to be as nice as possible with them. But I'm buying a service and they're giving one.  Too many times in the past things have gotten confused and I've been treated like a wayward boyfriend.

Na, customer suits me fine.

I just get concerned when they call me a client ,it sounds like they charge more.

I get more concerned when they tell me that they "lub" me and "no want work bar anymore"  :rolleye0012:

@SiamSam...yes thats "lub" and not "lube" before you say anything

Many time when I ask how much...?? You know the answer ..."Up to you" I says "Me  customer,,you sell I buy...""Sooo How much???""

End of the day thats what we are nothing more..

I disagree to a certain extent Billy.

Over the years I have made many good long time friends....I think more than just customer.

Cheers DK

I would agree with donnykey too, but it all depends on where you feel you stand in the bigger picture so I can understand some guys having opposing views.

If you act like a customer then that's all you will ever be, but some of us, I believe, become more than that.  The word "customer" doesn't bother me when it's used but it's rarely used in my direction as I rarely play the role of a customer. Even less so these days as I've a steady girlfriend living with me now.  Even prior to that it was generally used with reference to someone else, commonly just as a generic term for another guy who may partake of the services available.

Many guys have been visiting for years and the girls get to know them, for both good or not so good reasons.  As redrock alluded, it can be a good thing if that's what she calls you as it maintains a professional distance, especially if you're a butterfly or have no intention of getting involved beyond your ST or LT.

Looking on the positive side these girls probably feel more comfortable around guys they've known a while even if the guy's never actually been a customer, probably more so if they have and all went well as there's a familairity.  Naturally the girls would like repeats from decent guys but even those decent guys might get referred to a customer when she's talking to someone else. Unless he is within visible range then he may be referred to as "my friend".

As I said before, personally I think it's just a generic term used in common Thai parlance when speaking to farang and I don't mind it at all, but I doubt it's used much in my direction unless she doesn't know me.

We're all potential customers to those girls who don't know us.

Sorry, what was the question again?
