pdogg
146 Ciobha wins by a few pubic hairs, within the +/- 25 tolerance as there are 169 Starbucks in the LOS according to their website. Quote Link to comment

SiamSam
I know there's one in Sweden somewhere. Quote Link to comment
JaiDee
Along the same lines......does anyone know why 7/11 is called that? I have run this by many Thai people and no one can ever guess...... Quote Link to comment
duke007
I know there's one in Sweden somewhere. When I came back from the Philippines in June I looked up the 7/11 franchise out of curiousity so I have a fair idea of how many Thai outlets there are, but as I used Google I will not answer Your right Sam, and apart from Sweden there are 7-11's in the other Scandinavian countries of Norway and Denmark I think we all probably know that the 7-11 originated in the US but maybe this could be the next question Which Country has the most 7-11 stores? rxpharm
One would think it would be the US, but there's a little known fact that most Asian families tend to only buy a few days of groceries at a time. They don't use deep freezers or pantries like many western families do and buy 1 or 2 weeks of stuff at a time. So the 7/11 concept does quite well in Asia. I would hazard a guess and say Japan. JaiDee
Yeah, we hardly have any in the state where I live. In fact, it's uncommon to see a 7/11 at all, they are much more common in Thailand. Now Dunkin' Donuts on the other hand......... Quote Link to comment
seven
I know there's one in Sweden somewhere. I rarely shop there when home. There are far better convenience stores around. In Thailand i shop there at least once a day. The name.... two guys debating the opening hours, i think. Quote Link to comment
Patrick
That was my guess too I think they were originally open from 7am to 11pm. Quote Link to comment
SiamSam
I believe the name stems from the opening and closing hours. 7am to 11pm. Quote Link to comment
rxpharm
Siamsam, they are open 24/7 now, but as others have posted, that was probably their original opening hours. Quote Link to comment
JaiDee
It was.....and in those days that was a really unique thing! Mom and Pop stores were more like 8am to 8pm, 7/11 gave us more time to buy crap food. Quote Link to comment
SiamSam
Siamsam, they are open 24/7 now, but as others have posted, that was probably their original opening hours. Yes, that is what I meant. Quote Link to comment

Correct Sir Japan has more 7-Eleven locations than anywhere else in the world, where they often bear the title of its current holding company "Seven & I Holdings". Of the 50,254 stores around the globe, 15,852 stores (30% of global stores) are located in Japan with 2,079 stores in Tokyo alone. And here is the first Japanese 7-Eleven store to open in Tokyo in May 1974 Quote Link to comment
pdogg
Hmmm. 10000? There are less than 10,000 7/11's in Thailand Quote Link to comment
pdogg
Any other guesses as to how many 7/11s there are in Thailand? Quote Link to comment
