  3. If this thing gets worse in Thailand, and I think it will, The Mr Bean General in charge and his minions will no doubt play the "blame the dirty farang" game. Fines for no masks? Just an naked attempt to play that other cheap Thai game called, "Milk the farang!!""

  6. For me it would be Benz, who has been a favourite and a regular of mine on my last few trips to Pattaya, the only silicone she has had done aka boobs (where it mattered to her) look great too, she is great company, has a lovely personality, is zero drama and a lot of fun in the sack Lily from TJ's is good looking (face wise) but she has done the 'silicone' trip way too far imho and I don't find her attractive at all, each to their own I guess. A couple of pics that Benz sent me last week

  8. Exactly. I'm not very hopeful though. The elite and rich have too much to lose, and will do anything to keep the masses down, lifelong IOUs seems to be what they'll feed the people. And theres no one ready to challenge this and take the fight, instead we have celebrities full of themselves singing Imagine together. Some protest, huh.

  9. Same here. If we don't do away with the current system now, it will be hell to pay. In the 14th century, once the mass death phase of the plague was over, that is exactly what the feudal elites tried to do: to reimpose their old privileges and traditions and economic logic - on a population that had just lived through the most traumatic event imaginable. _____ If we follow the orthodox economic playbook now, just as after 2008, once the crisis is over, political elites will call for more austerity - healthcare cuts, wage cuts and tax rises for ordinary people to reduce government spending and erode the debt pile.

  10. Thanks, man. Excellent piece. “If the great plague of the 14th century triggered a post-feudal imagination, it is possible - and desirable - that this one triggers a post-capitalist imagination. And fast.” Let’s hope so. The thing that worries me is that the very same nefarious pricks running the capitalist shitshow will be running the “post capitalist” shitshow. I am more of an anarchist in my heart of hearts. I am a bit ambivalent about communism. I think the right is correct in their critique of government and the left is correct in their critique of business and capitalism. This tends to leave one in a bit of an ambivalent position.

  14. Sunny does that for me. Don't belittle yourself QG... We know that you are working at least 15 hours a day keeping us informed about the virus thing...and i for one am very grateful as i do know how hard you work on personal projects too. i rely on you now QG, without you i wouldn't have known anything about CV, so, you've done me a great favour, now i've got things to worry about, adds a bit of interest to life.. Virology is now my hobby. but personal projects....it must have taken you days to board up the windows and doors...? .And that machine gun emplacement on your roof must have taken weeks... you be careful of the paperboy now! give him a warning shot first. Go easy with the Molotov Cocktails.... I do know that England is not so warm at the moment, so during the night watch on the roof wrap up warm QG, don't want you getting the sniffles now [god help us all!] At least 2 hazmat suits, 5 masks, 3 pairs of googles, 8 pairs of gloves, 6 condoms,.... cover them all in alcohol....you'll be snug as a bug in a rug. and talking of which... i was talking to a BM the other day about those dodgy masks and how 7-11 won't let you in without one... Lo and behold an hour later he phoned me to say that outside his village an old lady is selling home made ones for 15 baht! result heh! my life saved by 15 baht.....i guess we may be wearing her old knickers but good enough for me! and...this morning i went to my condo office to pay the rent, a big sign on the door saying...'no mask-no entry' so i tapped on the window....Oy! do you want your rent then?' she came running out , glared at me, went to her car and came back with 2 free masks for me. i stuck one where it should be on the face, the other over my eyes...she wasn't amused, i don't know why... keep safe QG. Strange days have found us.

  15. I would say that for the majority of farang who've already made the decision to live / move / retire to Thailand that is the case, in varying degrees. Something they will all likely share is/was the ability to create a nest egg with income. A perpetual money-stream or sufficient built-up and invested without the necessity to work again. The 'living for today, tomorrow will take care of itself' policy most Thais live by is perhaps turning on them now and many, if not the vast majority, will get bitten on the backside sooner or later for sucking the life out of that sorry mantra. It is only going to get worse before it gets better. Resentment from those not under-the-wing of a financially savvy farang will increase. Blame poor education and stupidity. The best thing farang in Thailand can do right now and for the foreseable is not to display unecessary signs of wealth. To Thais, a farang simply living in their country and seemingly doing nothing all day yet happily paying for rent and food without a worry in the world is already rich, so plenty enough for resentment to begin. Despite this, there are some farang among us who don't know when to shut-the-fuck up and stop displaying unnecessary signs of apparent wealth. Bragging about their life upgrades and consumer items and the other useless things they enjoy spending their money on. It just makes them stand out as a bigger wanker than they most likely already are. Thais are not blind, they will notice all these things, too. A curfew is annoying and confining, but in the long run could well be something which prevents someone getting robbed late at night on one of those usually busy streets. Thailand is a very safe country in terms of physical attacks and street crime. Most is done by stealth and the victim unaware until later. But these are unprecedented times and desperation levels are at the foot of a steep upcoming incline. Be safe and smart.

  16. When the bars were open, I generally wouldn't go out more than twice a week and since I wasn't on the hunt wasn't too concerned about being around the creme of the creme in looks and honestly have no idea who they are. Now of course, I know Lily of TJ's who has an entire thread devoted to her here but who are the Pattaya and Bangkok ladyboys that you consider stunners?

  17. Not the best translation. Believe that Close the Gate refers to roadblocks. Resolution of the Communicable Disease Committee Meeting Chonburi Province To proceed as follows: 1. The District shall set up a separate unit To inspect violators of the local commissions. 2. Close hotels and establishments of the same nature With conditions for that hotel Issuing measures to take care of employees Do not let employees leave Chonburi province (For hotels that still have guests Must inform the local area within 3 days that it will be closed or will be opened next) 3. Temporarily close Pattaya City, close the gate There is an intensive extraction block. The security agencies should consider screening whether it is necessary or not. 4. Close all beaches in the province. Do not allow groups to do social gatherings but can also play in the water. 5. Close the gas station from 22.00-05.00 hrs. 6. Close all flea markets. The definition is the market that requests the second type market license according to the daily market law. Unstructured 7. Seek cooperation Refrain from leaving the residence 23.00-05.00 hrs (if the government announces a similar order To seize the time of this whole order And of the Cabinet together) 8. Provincial Commerce suspends some types of services Waiting to check in the order 9. Do not engage in activities in all reservoirs 10. Make clear To open a shop that does activities about hair, cutting, washing, cutting, straightening, straightening, coloring, both men and women can do !!! But tattoo shops, nail salons, and others can't = can only do hair services https://www.77kaoded.com/news/sangk/1482496

  26. Good advice DC. I don't wear expensive clothes, footwear, bling or Rolex's in London, plenty of desperate people and opportunistic criminals in UK too. But I think it is stupid to flash what is relative wealth around in any poor country, especially at this time.

  30. I totally agree, the current system is rotten to the core and needs to go, like yesterday. The thing is, there are groups of very powerful and psychopathic people lined up to make sure that they stay in positions of power. This does not bode well for the rest of us. It seems that things are up for grabs and we won’t know how this current situation will play out for a while yet. I sincerely hope we come out of the the other side of this thing with a far more equatable, humane, sustainable, and just system than the one that is currently in its death throes.

  33. The horse racing industry in Thailand, already suffering with the closure of one Bangkok track (leaving only fortnightly race-meetings at the Royal Bangkok Sports Club), and now completely shut down over the COVID-19 virus, has been dealt yet another blow with so many race-horses dying from this latest disease. I don't want to be Captain Doom & Gloom, but I think it will be a huge task to put racing back on it's feet here. And of course we don't really know when it will be safe to even think of holding meetings again. Before anyone rips into me about horse-racing over the major health crisis facing humans, look at the people who are now out of work, including trainers, jockeys, trackwork riders, stablehands, sellers of form-guides, printers of the guides, food and drink sellers at the tracks, track staff and the list goes on. Difficult times

  37. This is what I call a Hero https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8183627/Italian-nurse-pictured-asleep-desk-coronavirus-shift-reveals-Covid-19.html An Italian nurse who was pictured slumped over her desk during a long shift has revealed she tested positive for coronavirus shortly after the snap was taken, but said she 'can't wait to get back' to work. Elena Pagliarini, 43, became a symbol of the Italian health workers' efforts when a picture of her asleep still in her gloves, masks, scrubs and headgear at a Cremona hospital was heavily shared three weeks ago. Five days after the photograph was taken the nurse tested positive for coronavirus. She has now recovered and is eager to get back to work, telling Italian news site Cremonasipuò.it: 'I can't wait to get back.'
