The silly thing was there was many seats empty , you would think they would have spaced us out .

On Air Asia you can change seats after takeoff or at least I often do.  But they will not permit you to move to "premium rows" which are usually the first 5 rows and the two emergency exit rows.

lance buddy, unless you're a trumper, you really think you should praise the US right now? Seriously? The whole world is astonished how fucked up the US is now.

seven buddy, the USA is my country. We make mistakes, but then maybe you come from a more perfect world. I don't care for either presidential candidate, but thats our system, majority wins.

Several times I have been in a bar in Pattaya, a guy sits at my table, figures out from my accent that I'm American then expounds:

1 I don't like your president!

2 I don't like your beer!

3 I don't like your bread

Ad nauseum.

I love to travel and I've noticed there are always long lines outside the US Embassy, with locals of that country applying for visas and/or immigration. If the "whole world" is astonished at what a fucked up place the USA is, why are people voting with their feet and trying to get in?

Spin that any way you like; I don't give a fuck what you think of me or the USA:yahoo:

Fair enough, but don't kid yourself locals are lining up outside the US embassy these days, or pre corona.

Absolutely not, theres no such place. Nationalism is never pretty.  I used to like your country, but that was long ago and before you elected one of the biggest knob in history for president. I really feel sorry for you guys. Lets hope you can avoid a civil war though.

Tourists will have to wear a "smart" wristband from 1 November 2020:

While on the surface this seems incredibly invasive it makes it more likely that tourists will be able to avoid quarantine.   Perhaps a good analogy is the USA mask controversy.  Compared with closures and lockdowns, masks aren't that big a deal.

This might benefit Thai Friendly as guys might not want to be tracked to short time rooms.

wow, they're doing something that makes sense?  Does this mean the tourists that want to undergo the extensive, multi testing, quarantine stay at a 4 star hotel for gobs of money?  Or is someone talking about letting in tourists after they get a negative result at the airport? or something like that.

Interesting. I was thinking of locking up my place in California, and spending three months on the ground in Thailand (last I heard they are only giving out 90 day extended stay visas) For some reason, a two week quarantine in hotel seems preferable to me than having a tracking device on my person.

The pandemic is a real test of concepts of civil liberties versus government mandates to protect health and life.  Masks don't seem that intrusive to me, and neither does contact tracing even through cell phone data, but having to wear a gps enabled tracking device 24/7 is beyond the pale for me.

Question:  Is this only for new arrivals at the airport/border, or will long term visitors currently in country have to wear these devices?

All the best.

The lady says you have only a 50 in a million chance of catching Covid.  No idea how she is doing her math as just yesterday the UK had 25,000 new cases in just one day.

and how has this mystical figure of 25,000 been calculated? Guess's 'r' Us ?

or, were 25k people tested positive yesterday? i think not. can't even blame the NGO's like you possibly can in The Phillippines or suchlike places. Pattaya Mail report by any chance?

Data collection is rarely clean.    Although New Cases implies to me the first positive result of a particular person, it's possible that a person testing positive for the second time could be a counted as a new case in some jurisdictions.

Pdogg was quoting Sunday's figures which to be exact was 24,962.

The figure for new cases in UK yesterday was 21,363. They are the numbers of results for testing positive for covid, for first time.

The state of Pennsylvania announced today that visitors from other states must have had a negative coronavirus test in the preceding 72 hours or go into a 14-day quarantine.  The announcement was made by the Pennsylvania Secretary of Health, Dr. Rachel Levine.  That announcement is of interest and import in itself, but so too is that Dr. Levine is transgender.

wanted to visit Cuba because I had admired Che Guevara, Fidel Castro and ordinary Cubans in overthrowing the corrupt Batista regime, which was backed by the US. And the US had been hostile to Cuba sine the Cuban Revolution.

Cuba had been known as 'America's Whorehouse' with bars, brothels and casinos mainly run by the American Mafia.

I don't hate the USA, I don't like some of it's politics and politicians. I have been on holiday to the US too, and may do so again after Trump goes.

Uh wow.

So you identify with Che, a ruthless murder who was even too far right for Castro. I'm sure Che would admire you as well for fucking ladyboys.

If Cuba was "America's whorehouse" what does that make Thailand? If Americans are evil to pay for sex are Europeans saints for paying?

So you may grace us with your presence post Trump? What hypocrisy. You pass judgement on the USA and praise a country where the slightest disagreement with royals is grounds for incarceration, or worse. If you were alive in 1944, you would probably opine "I want to visit a Nazi concentration camp, before the USA destroys them." Yeah Nazis held ladyboy fuckers in high esteem.

Enjoy your life with the CCP virus; I can't wait to hear you admiration for the CCP putting one million Uighurs in concentration camps.

I bet they also admire Che, just like you

Lance, I admire people who stand up against injustice, and Che Guevara did that.

I'm guessing you are referring to Thailand as 'a country where the slightest disagreement ....... '  Where have I praised Thailand? I go there for some sun during our miserable winter. The ladyboys are a bonus. If I only went to countries where I thought the Government was good I wouldn't go anywhere, and I don't like my Government too.

No I wouldn't have wanted to visit a Nazi concentration camp in 1944. Nazism and fascism are the greatest political evils of all. One of the great things that the US did was joining the war against fascism after Pearl Harbour and I respect all those who fought in that war. I have actually visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp to remember those who were murdered by the Nazi regime.

I oppose all repressive Governments, and that includes China.

Anyway I wish you all the best in this Season of Goodwill.

Lance, I'm surprised you didn't end with "USA is the best country in the world, I don't give a shit what the rest of the world think" which usually follows  american nationalism speeches. Anyway, try to fix your own backyard after 4 years of the biggest political shitfest we've seen in our lives, before criticising other nations or systems. MAGA!
