And they are hardcore face maskers, and the winter is coming up. @Seven Here's an interesting ariticle about Sweden's approach. https://www.straitstimes.com/world/europe/sweden-sticks-to-its-guns-as-coronavirus-cases-rise What I thought was interesting was the fact that 80% of Swedes had modified their behavior without official orders limiting/closing facilities, and the wonderful statement "There's nothing that forces you, but Swedes are like that you know, they follow (rules)." So Seven, my hypothesis, is that countries like Sweden may have a strong social/cultural identification that everyone is really on same team; and when people are told "Hey, it helps if you wear a mask when indoors or near others", then people voluntarily do what is necessary for public health without strong orders/lockdowns. But, I'm humble enough to admit I could be wrong. Anyway, we are back to over 1000 dead in USA everyday, and we have a large number of people who believe that wearing masks is part of some totalitarian/socialist conspiracy to deprive them of their freedom, so if things continue the way they are going, we could easily have another 100K Americans dead by Jan 2021. On top of that we have a very large number of people who I would characterize as "Covid Death Denialists", who articulate (I guess they actually believe it), that the number of people dying from Covid19 is vastly overstated. https://abcnews.go.com/Health/wireStory/hospitals-full-parts-idaho-refuse-mask-rules-73781574

RandiUno2: I read a piece in NYT last week which was completely wrong. Turns out that one of the (swedish) co-authors is a right wing loonie who's been mocking our state epidemiologist in social media calling him a retard. These tweets are of course deleted now. So much for unbiased journalism. Our black eye is that we share the same opinion about facemasks like your president and his followers. The difference is that over here we don't see it as an oppression or an interference to our "freedom", we simply don't believe they help.Spain and France is a brilliant example of that right now. You wont see any facemasks out in the public here. Its true that we prefer to listen to out health departments advices rather than be told what to do, and I'm so grateful not having lockdowns imposed on us. This is only because we have a left-wing government in power now. If the conservatives/rightwing would have been in power , we'd have lockdowns like the rest of the world. They said so themselves. This doesn't mean we don't have any rules and they everyone listens. Yesterday our government recalled the opening of big nightclubs (which in my opinion was a huge mistake to allow). Last weekends footage showed how bad this re-opening was. Drunk people packed wall to wall. Thankfully it only lasted 1 week. I follow the news with sadness seeing how numbers are on the rise basically everywhere, not least the US. I hope we can turn this around together. We have to.

Probably because it's a 'Cheap Charlie ' store QG I ventured into a couple of ASDA stores earlier today, one on the way to get tested at the Etihad Stadium and another one on the way back plus called in at a LIDL store , no queueing in any of them. Seeing as there is currently a 25% discount if you buy 6 bottles of Wine and 20 x 440ml cans of Kronenbourg 1664 for £18 (£1.16 a pint) at ASDA I was pleasantly surprised, and it was something I took full advantage of , that's me sorted for the next month

BigTel
Nice article here by Julian Spindler, it's a shame the "powers to be", who are in control at the moment, won't implement these suggestions. https://www.bangkokpost.com/opinion/opinion/2014331/opening-up-is-the-only-way-to-rescue-thai-tourism Thailand's world-class tourism industry is in a deep, coronavirus-induced coma, close to death.

cobber32
Well, there's a bit of something for everyone there, BigTel. Pure chance it was picked up; but was it a false positive? Is it a false negative? Is the moon really made of cheese? Meanwhile, in the wilds of Phitsanulok, in the farming community where I live, you wouldn't know there was a virus.Very few people wear masks, and the local Tesco Lotus Express (the local village store) staff do not wear masks at all. A bottle of gel sits on a table near the door, but no temperature checks. On Thursday a customer (who was wearing a mask, surprise, surprise) took her mask off to sneeze, twice. All good here.
