bumblebee
I know some of you guys organise your next trip as soon as you get home from Thailand. Something to look forward to some time in the coming year of course. Although I bought my flight a couple of months ago, it has only hit me in the last day or so that I am going back again, next month, albeit the end of the month, but NEXT MONTH none the less. So how far out from a trip is it before you guys get that warm, content feeling of knowing fun times are on the horizon?
SiamSam
I use to plan ahead a lot. Like you said, as soon as I returned home I planned the next one. In fact a few times I planned the next one while still in LOS on the initial one. However I can't plan ahead any longer. Work has been much too unpredictable and I do not have the freedom to plan in advance. At this point I cannot even plan to be part of the next GOTC in February if indeed there is one. What I do have though is suddenly finding out there is no work for an unspecified amount of time and I am immediately free to go. That is a buzz in and of itself.
JaiDee
Booked, ready to fly, and even got business class for free! Frequent flier miles are a great thing :) Can't leave till fall is over though, these 2 months are the best time of the year.
etgohm
Who the hell plans, this is our life! If we cant get back we will wilt away into oblivion. I use to plan, but now that l am ready to go out to pasture l am thankful of every moment and all the lovely creatures that make every trip better than the last. I planned to be there next week and poof its gone l have to sit in meetings in the backwoods of Michigan "Hee Haw" but l do have another plan and its only 65 days away. Who am l planning on meeting... Thats another story... Who cares they are all amazing. Sam, we have to arrange a night. Sorry buddy but its been chaos lately. Dont worry about the GOTC it happens every week from mid November until mid March, just pick a week. Summer swoon will soon be a memory and the November nights will soon be here. 65 and counting... No plans...........

Quietguy
Planning and anticipating the next trip are all part of the pleasure. When I was working it helped me get through the day to day grind of work, knowing that it was financing my next trip, and giving me something to look forward to.
bumblebee
What I do have though is suddenly finding out there is no work for an unspecified amount of time and I am immediately free to go. That is a buzz in and of itself. I am with you on that one SS. While my working year is pretty much planned out these days, there have been times in my life when I have found myself with the occasional free gap of time when i can do whatever i want, be it just a few days, weeks or even months. It's that sudden realisation of knowing that I have money and time to spend it on what i desire, that can be quite a rush, Especially if it means just swanning off to a place where i can be my real self. EyeMahk
So how far out from a trip is it before you guys get that warm, content feeling of knowing fun times are on the horizon? About two hours before I leave for the airport ... I wish I was a newbie again.
xyzzy
I wish I was a newbie again. Just overpay the girls and believe everything they tell you. Early December for my return. Seems like a long time away.

fogmaster
I don't usually "pre-book" too far in advance, but I the case of this trip I knew I was coming back now 2 weeks before my last trip ended. I had a very content feeling then... Back to the States, and 3+ months of madness... Booked my ticket, got my tourist visa, back to feeling content again... Realized I had finished all my work and had fuck all to do, so now bored madness for a month+... Then 2 days ago, after receiving a large shipment from Condom Depot, knowing I was within 2 weeks of my arrival, knowing who will be "waiting" for me in BKK, I am content again! The madness will kick in again when Backdoor Specialist arrives!

Aye you USA guys do a lot more of a long haul flight than we Brits, which is something I am very thankful for
SiamSam
I was checking out flights last evening. The best I can do on my preferred dates is 28 hours on the outbound (3 connections) and 32 hours on the return. Now that's a long haul for sure. bumblebee
Starting to get those excited, momentary flashes of what's ahead in 6 weeks from now. Images of arriving on Dongtan beach for a relaxing afternoon on a deckchair in the shade, strolling into the PBG in the late afternoon and my only decision of the day is to ponder if it's worth heading home to change or just stay out, waking up in the morning and realising I have fook all to do and all day to do it. Man I can easily spend winter doing that shit.
SiamSam
Can't beat that BB. The life of Riley for sure. Good on you. Enjoy.
bumblebee
Less than 4 weeks to go now. I can see it, i can smell it but i just can't yet touch it. I am sure i am not the only one who gets this buzzed up as the arrival date approaches. The weeks leading up to a trip almost blend into the it as that feeling of contentment takes over.
