  1. We are about 6 weeks or so away from the start of rice harvest time and I have decided not to buy a harvester this year because right across Thailand this year will not be a bumper crop like last year. I don't know if it's the rainy season or lack of in parts of the country, I have spoken to many of the locals here and the all say every 3 years or so the crops aren't as good and of course the price will go down as well because of the quality . I do feel sorry for all farmers in Thailand, they do it tough in a good year so hopefully they will survive. It's just a hobby for me . when starting the farm I was happy to cover cost and have done so far and having my savings from Australia ( and other investments) the pressure is off me but unfortunately the locals only have the farm income and a bit of cash from their kids working in the cities. It sure has been an eye opener for me but I am glad to have made the move and will continue to farm .

  2. Went into town today since things were opening up on the 82nd anniversary of Hitler invading Poland. Started out with a 3PM brekkie at the Hideaway and then low and behold there is new signage up at Sweethearts. The new bar will be called Red Hot & Blue. Not just a rebranding but a paradigm shift to fish from sausage. We wish the best of luck to the owners and hosts!

  3. I have a long list of old staff and many new girls want to come back when Zaza is back in full swing .At the moment of course there just just isn't customers on the ground, although I am getting constant emails and calls from guys still interested in visiting so I just hope all businesses are back on track soon. Like all bars and massage shops ,I was concerned when most staff had to go home and I didn't think they would return ( understandably ) , I have lost two staff but all the rest are coming back soon. I wish all businesses the best in the slow recovery as things slowly come together

  6. Nothing heard from the "expatvac@consular" site I registered on a month ago, but just now i had sms from the big hospital in Phitsanulok (registered on Monday) to say I'm on for a Pfizer shot tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon at the university just up the road. Only had to confirm it. see tomorrow.

  7. It's hard to comment the last bulletin of the Ministry of Health of Vietnam. You can find all the details above. I just notice that Vietnam had 37 deads since the beginning of the pandemics just a few months ago. This number was 11,064 yesterday. No information is given about vaccination progress in the country. 2 or 3 weeks ago, a radio said that only 4% of the population had been vaccinated. Vietnam sometimes receives 2 to 5 million doses of a vaccine through COVAX but they receive no continuous flow of vaccines. I realize how lucky we are to live in countries where the administration was well off enough to purchase vaccines or where a lab managed to develop one. I wish to find a better bulletin next month.

  10. Sorry for resurrecting this old thread. Anyone here familiar with a dating site or dating app called "omi"? "Omi is currently ranked as one of the top online dating applications in Thailand, gaining increasing popularity among Thai teenagers." writes: https://www.thebigchilli.com/news/up-and-coming-way-to-meet-new-people-for-the-new-generation-winning-2-million-downloads-within-3-months-in-thailand I'm asking because I just found out that Boombim, a girl I know who works (or rather used to work) for Bangkok ladyboy bar Chaos 9 apparently has an account there: Any experience with this platform?

  11. With very little crowds how are the bars being managed. I get that some of the girls are trying online and thai friendly etc. But for the bars the lack of patrons must be very disastrous

  12. When I was boy, I would say 90% of the guys had it done. Very rare to see the flappy skin. Problem in the Phillippines is that they do it with a blunt axe!!!. Leaves them with the old turtle neck. My mate had it done in his late 20's!. Think his wife pressured him.

  14. I honestly thought La Bamba would close, but with a favourable lease agreement and Nok's boyfriend I assume assisting with finances, I believe they will be in a position to open again. I certainly hope so, I have been known to visit there he odd night. I reckon 69 Bar may close, no offence to them, just an opinion, and obviously some have already closed. Be interesting to see one way or another.

  15. New rules for inter-provincial travel have been announced. Planes can fly at 75% capacity. This means nobody will be forced into the dreaded middle seat. Certain destination provinces have additional restrictions but Bangkok and Rayong (U-Tapao) don't.

  16. Guidelines from the Chonburi Governor: 1. Wear two masks at all times when going out or when inside the house with more than two people. 2. Even with the easing of restrictions, one should leave the house only when necessary. 3. Those over 60-years-old or with chronic illnesses, especially if not yet vaccinated against Covid-19, should avoid going out at all unless it is an absolutely necessary reason. 4. Maintain a distance of 1-2 meters from people in public places if going out. The above are "requests" and will not be enforced. https://thepattayanews.com/2021/08/31/chonburi-governor-releases-set-of-universal-prevention-guidelines-for-residents-to-stop-covid-19/

  17. On a trip about six years ago I used to spend most of the day on Dongtan Beach. The attraction there was that sunloungers were available for hire, unlike the main Jomtien Beach which only had deckchairs. At that time Dongtan Beach was busy and you had to agree to come to rent the sunlounger for a month to be guaranteed a place. On subsequent trips there were a lot fewer customers and it was easy to find a sunlounger for just the day. Most of the guys there were older gays, a lot of who lived in Jomtien. But there were also a few Russian mothers or grannies with kids. A pretty young Russian woman used to hire the sunlounger next to me every day and sunbathed topless, with a bikini bottom that wasn't much more than a piece of string. I guess she thought that as it was a 'gay' beach nobody would be ogling and lusting after her. She was mistaken! 5555! She did have a great body!

  18. Always good to have a look at this thread. As Nosher says it's a whole other side of Thailand. I call farming one of the honourable professions. It's honest labour, and actually produces something we all need. Much respect to the farmer - in TH or anywhere in the world... Pretty cold in Nong Khai now I take it.

  19. Thanks mate . It fascinates me to and I am the one doing it , to speed the germination process up the rice is soaked in water for up to 48 hours before spreading. Hope you enjoy the rest of this thread, there are so many different things in Thailand away from the bar scene.
