The reports of what COVID-19 is doing when preventative measures are not implemented shows it has a great impact on economic activity than most people would imagine. Staff sick percentages between 30-40% causes major problems to companies, and worse problems for essential service workers, like police, fire, ambulance, health care workers, etc. People who are affected evenly mildly with COVID 19 are off for at least 2 weeks, and sometimes up to months if severely affected. In the US alone one organization has tracked at least 900 health care workers having died from COVID 19. When hospitals are overwhelmed with COVID 19 patients, patients with other problems face delays in treatment - which can also lead to more numbers dying. They won't be included in the COVID-19 statistics since they died from untreated medical problems. As far as rushing vaccines to production - Russia is the first country to skip the phase 3 requirement of clinical trials - this important step is to test the vaccine in a larger population, around 10,000 plus to determine how prevalent and serious side effects are. In countries that have strong regulations, skipping this step would definitely lead to huge multimillion dollar lawsuits of negligence, unless they pass "no fault" legislation like the US Republican senate is proposing to shield corporations and governments from such lawsuits.

Bad news is that Jet2 have just cancelled my holiday to Spain (Benidorm) next Tuesday.... Good news is that they have given me a full refund voucher for a later date so I just used it to book Turkey (Gumbet) leaving next Thursday instead. Not only will I get an extra 3 night holiday it works out at £100 cheaper which Jet2 will refund to my bank, life ain't too bad Wicked

6 of us went to Emmy's bar last night and Pdogg turned up to , it was great to see Emmy and the girls and the new Bar. It's more spacious than the old one and plenty of seating outside but still under cover incase it rains . If you have not seen the new venue yet it's worth going for a look see . Thanks Emmy for making us feel welcome and will visit again next time we are in town .

I voted more than "A 75% Decrease", I believe the damage that the Thai Government is inflicting on it's people is far greater than the damage that Covid 19 can do. I know we haven't even seen the full ramifications of what shutting down it's borders has done to the working class Thai let alone the industry that we like to dabble in on our trips. I have resigned myself to the idea that I may never be able to have another trip to Thailand unless there is some miraculous vaccine produced that can guarantee that the virus is halted.

We are in Pattaya for a few days and it's good to see the shop is doing well considering only expats and the regular thai customers are visiting us. All the staff have rent and food money and all shop expenses are well and truly covered every day so that's all any business can hope for at the moment. Herd immunity only occurs when around 70% plus of the population has had the infection. There are some indications that COVID-19 does not cause the immune system to develop long term immunity - antibodies are fading after a few months, and some people are testing positive more than once after recovering from the initial infection. There has to be more research done to confirm this - but if COVID 19 persists and returns seasonally like the flu, the only protection will be a seasonal vaccine, just like the flu vaccines.

I think that is a reasonable explanation. If one goes back and takes a look at the photos of lbs posted from 2003-2005, there are very few still in the p4p scene for various reasons. For some of those who complain about the prices lbs charge, this should be an eye opener that lbs time to earn is quite limited. That is not to say they should be able to charge whatever they want, but negotiation to a reasonable price, so both parties are happy is a better strategy.
