pdogg
Final jeopardy from last evening; Which US state is the only one to have a state holiday once a year for a former U.S. Secretary of State? I'll guess Alaska Quote Link to comment
JaiDee
Nice one PD! I got it also, and was just guessing.....made sense because ''Seward's folly'' basically created that place after he supposedly overpaid Russia for the rights to that land. Seems like the people of the state celebrate once a year by giving everyone a paid day off! 2 of the panelists knew it, one did not. Quote Link to comment
JaiDee
Tonight's final jeopardy, catagory was "Oxford's English Dictionary." " As of 2013, this 3-letter verb common in sports, theater & politics has the largest entry in the online OED." I was WRONG with my choice, but at least one of the 3 guys said the same thing! 2 of them got it right...... Quote Link to comment
Hefe
Well with sports & politics I'd guess "won" or "win". Don't see how the theater fits in tho.... Quote Link to comment
JaiDee
I said Win also! But, alas, it was wrong...... Bear in mind the players only have 30 seconds to nail it, that's a lot of 3-letter words to run through your head! Quote Link to comment
JaiDee
No but good shot! BTW I slipped a clue in there somewhere along the way....... Quote Link to comment
JaiDee
This was one of the Daily Doubles in the Geography catagory; ''The Caspian Sea's southern shoreline borders this country at the foot of the Elburz Mountains.'' I drew a big blank on that one! Quote Link to comment
pacman
Run? As for the southern boundary of the Caspian Sea, is it Iran? (Otherwise Iraq, Saddam Hussein had his personal yacht parked there somewhere.) Quote Link to comment
Hefe
Run? You beat me to it! Quote Link to comment
JaiDee
Run and Iran are absolutely right! Quote Link to comment
JaiDee
I watch Jeopardy pretty much every night, I'll jot down the best ones.... these 2 were really tough. Quote Link to comment
pdogg
Run and Iran are absolutely right! Hit almost fits but a stretch for politics Quote Link to comment
NIGHTRIDER
I said Win also! But, alas, it was wrong...... Bear in mind the players only have 30 seconds to nail it, that's a lot of 3-letter words to run through your head! oops already run and won. Quote Link to comment

ciobha
It has something to do with a nuclear missile, but I can't recall the exact detail! First nuclear missile made to be fired from a submarine, something like that? Quote Link to comment
Guest LaBambaBar
You're on the right lines with part of your answer, ciobha! Not saying which part, of course... Quote Link to comment
ciobha
Just googled it because the thought of only half knowing the answer was killing me. I was part the way there, and I must admit I would have struggled with the part I am wrong on. Really can't recollect that part. I will leave the answer for others to have a try Quote Link to comment

JaiDee
Went to a Jeff Tweedy gig tuesday night. He's on a solo tour now, but what band is he usually associated with.? ELO? Electric Light Orchestra? {I think you meant to put this in the Band thread Seven!} From Jeopardy last night, in the "Real first names" category; Mother Theresa Somehow I pulled this one out of the ol' memory banks, heh heh, probably because I read so much about what Christopher Hitchens had to say about her.....and it wasn't pretty. Bonus question; from which country did she hail? Quote Link to comment
Hefe
Albania, glad you didn't ask for her real first name! Quote Link to comment
