Hugo Chavez-R.I.P.

Recommended Posts

Jaidee, JaiDee, JaiDee ... How many wannabe tinhorn dictators submit themselves to the electoral process FOUR times?  How many repeal censorship laws, thus guaranteeing the opposition complete freedom of expression (something that partly led to the 2002 attempted coup in Venezuela)?

Darn it, i just had an idea. :db:

I gonna find a piss poor Country with some oil, try and get into power via a coup. If that fails i'll try and get myself in via an election.

Once im there i have a cunning plan.... I'll give enough to the poor to ensure i get enough votes to keep me in power as long as i can.

Fuck the middle class... its the mass poor's vote i'll need.

Whilst im there i'll extend the term of my presidency while i'm at it... and gee given i got some oil, i'll line my pockets...the uneducated poor won't know the difference... Hell of plan... ...

Just had a thought... some guy may have done it before me...

Taksin Shinawatra.... rings some type of bell.... not that much oil there where he's from... did something with those country votes im sure...

Chavez, nah couldnt have been him... he's found in the top bloke section of a Julian Assange masterpiece...

I'll get back to you all velly soon :drinks:

And NO, I am not saying Bush is the same guy as Chavez!

But they were both evil despots who ruled by fear and intimidation who will not be missed.....co-president Cheney either. I am just surprised this thread is as long as it is, 10 full pages now; when I saw on the news that he had died it registered for about 2 minutes before I was reaching for the clicker.

My dear friend Rte67; please bear in mind that it's easy to win elections if the voting process is flawed at best, completely rigged at worst. I am old enough to remember when Ceausescu used to get 98% of the vote in Romania, Hoxha in Albania and Castro also; doesn't mean "the people" really wanted them in there.

Big deal, some South American tyrant passes on -  yawwwwwn

Chavez never invaded any countries murdering thousands of innocent people in the process .

Recognise the country?  Anyone?  Bueller?  Anyone?  Perhaps you might want to view the original document...

Nazi Germany but it sounds like several current regimes.

I hope this isn't leading to the drawing of moral equivalence between modern day America & the Third Reich. It's popular on some sites to take cheap shots at the far right in the US but let's not go down that road. It's offensive to our many American members, most of whom are only too well aware of the problems their country faces.

And it is not on for our British & Australian & Canadian members to add fuel to the fire. We all face similar problems & may well be relying heavily on US aid one day should the inevitable hit the fan. No matter what we think of bad policies, the west needs to stick together.

As my forebears stated unequivocally after the Second World War...    GOD BLESS AMERICA.

All due respect to you and Laurence Britt and Milton Mayer, whoever they might be (perhaps I'm illustrating my ignorance), but citing something on Jeff Rense's website may not exactly bolster your argument/cause, if intellectual perspicacity is what you're aiming for, 555.

I'm just sayin' (and trolling just a wee bit. 8P ).

... Can I assume that Mr Rense is what my fellow Brits would refer to as a complete and utter loony?

No, he's not a loony; that's just what the aliens/ancient astronauts/chemtrails/Jewish Illuminati/U.S and/or World Shadow Government/Men-in-Black want you to think.

As for intellectual perspicacity, I couldn't even spell it.

:rolleye0012:

You just did!

Perhaps you'd care to share the quote where I have stated that?

What you have inferred from anything I have posted says more about you than it does about me, old chap.

You didnt state it... are you denying that what was your inference?

Funnily enough your 4 free and fair elections mantra you keep bullshitting on about .... i see you didnt argue with my premise that he effectively bought his election results. (after the 1st one)

Whilst im well aware every democracy does this to some extent, i would argue that is far easier to manipulate the vote within a  country where poverty and lack of education is rampant.

Free and fair elections you say... free yes.... fair... depends on whether mass bribery is considered fair.

Funny thing about socialists and those that like the ideals.... in reality they end up fucking things up.

The argument for Chavez being a champion of the impoverished in Venezula.. Sure a noble intention - no one would ever argue on that front.

Have you ever thought about the cost of the methods used to obtain the goal?

Was their a better way?

I would argue yes.

I read it all fellas; thought about it all, research it, read some more about it, and slept on it for few more nights.

IMHO, and with all due and honourable respect to both the right and left of you guys, PLEASE let it go. This kind of banter is the STUFF of things that divide good people FROM good people for no good reason.

As such this thread should be silenced and let it rest.

However, please note I am into my cups and feelings a lot of love for the entire universe.

I think 'implication' is what you mean. Here's a handy guide to the difference between the two. You're welcome.

I shall put this clearly and simply, so even you can understand - there is no implication made.  There are only the inferences made by yourself and others.  I can't be held responsible for what happens when you take off your tin foil hat.

As for not answering your ... ahem ... 'charge' re the bribery of the population, you seem to have done a reasonably adequate job of countering your own nonsense, so I won't add to your pain.

lol... so basically you know its true and can't deny it .... shall we play the you can't handle the truth clip again~~ :movethatass:

No need to get so personal either... says a lot about your character.

All I can say is that you managed to counter your own argument well enough, so no need for me to do so.

I'll take a wild guess that you don't want to take the word of that well known, ahem, socialist commie pinko, Comrade Jimmy Carter...

As for getting personal, 'catch yourself,' as my Irish chums might say.

Yawwwnnnnnnnnn

Take your record off repeat... Seems you're spent

Must irk you seeign sloppy typing....  or are you the type that feels superior to fault others, assuming they really don't know the difference when they are lazy... so sad and pathetic your existence must be.

To quote David Mills...

"I've been trying to figure something in my head, and maybe you can help me out, yeah? When a person is insane, as you clearly are, do you know that you're insane? Maybe you're just sitting around, reading "Guns and Ammo", masturbating in your own feces, do you just stop and go, "Wow! It is amazing how fucking crazy I really am!"? Yeah. Do you guys do that?"

If I have offended anyone, I apologise.

You have no need to apologize .

If you have offended those who support the barbaric system that is Capitalism you've done something right .

To quote the great Irish socialist James Larkin - "The great are only great because we are on our knees . Let us rise"

Viva Hugo Chavez and all those who fight the system .

I dont think anyone is offended here , all these Political type threads end in tears, its to be expected.

As far as the Political Philosophy is concerned the arguments cant be resolved as we are talking about beliefs and ethics etc.. all subjective( well they are in my opinion) . As Kant said " you cant get an ought from an is" . Methinks in this case it was the Rose Colored Spectacles being worn that perhaps wrankled along with some other strange embellishments.

I agree TC, and I don't take offense at all when people may disagree with my political or religious views, to each his own. And I think both have a place here, there was even a 20+ page thread on evolution .....but only one person there disagreed with the consensus. As long as people stay relatively polite and courteous to those with opposing views I think just about *any* topic can be broached.

A little debate is good, as long as no one gets TOO angry.  I know a couple in my home town, a husband and wife I have known for more than 20 years now.  They are far-right Bush/Palin supporters, and she believes in the bible and God and all that nonsense I gave up in my teens; doesn't mean we can't still be friends and we are; we just don't discuss politics or religion when we get together, neither side is changing the other persons mind so why bother.

Again, I am just surprised at the actual length of this thread, 13 pages now.....I really didn't give this guy more than a few minutes thought during his whole time in office, but it seems like others have.

So capitalism is a barbaric system??  That pretty much sums it all up for me.  What did Churchil say?  Methinks it went sommat like this, "Our system isnt perfect but its the best of all the other flawed systems."  I am sure I butchered it somehow but you get my drift.

If capitalism is "babaric", I hate to think what hard socialism and Communism are/were.

This is way beyond the scope of the thread.  if you wish to mourn Hugo Chavez, go ahead.  Guess what??  I dont care.  I am certain you lot will be silent and respectful when Thatcher and the Bushes buy the farm......................

BTW, I do feel like I won the lottery when I was born in the goold ol US of A-warts and all.  For such a "barbaric" system people I know and hang with have done pretty darned well.  The folks I know didnt come from money either.

Again this is way of the reservation.

To me JS's post speaks volumes........

Hey! I resent resemble that remark!

I think I saw those guys on Beach Road today during the parade, incidentally. Oh, but we're off topic now, eh? 555. I will say this about Hugo Chavez, to redeem myself -- and I defy anyone to disagree with me; if you do you are a mindless newt and your counterpoint is moot; end of discussion.

Chavez .. the man rocked a track suit. He owned it.
