The conversation is starting as to whether the "cure" in its current form is going to worse than the disease itself. I cannot answer that question. Also if we are looking at this as a war, whats the acceptable causality rate? Should that type of question even be asked at this time? We just got our schedules for April and there is no flying to be had, well a little. I might work 4 or 5 days in April but will get pain more than that as we have a contractual minimum. The minimums are not that much to be honest but its better than nothing or a little. When i start getting down I just put throw on youtube and watch any part of a documentary about the siege of Leningrad during WW II.......talk about degradation!!!!

They have been doing this for a while now. I was in BKK just over a week ago and they had been doing it the week before that....

You know it’s strange as I have some major bone graft surgery scheduled in a couple of weeks. I actually want to have it for a couple of reasons one of which it will give me a lot of hours I can take from my sick bank. Might as week use a lot of them now. No sense saving it and it will provide me with a nice paycheck for one month at least. The way this looks, it looks like I will take yet another major pay cut that is if the furloughs DONT reach me, which is entirely possible.

Just got back to New York last night. Penn station at 700 pm is usually a hive of activity. Last night it was dead. When here in Farangland I dot go out much but I have gotten in the habit of going out once per day for food, errands etc.. I will try that today and see what happens. I will stop at the grocery store for some bits and bobs so will see how that is. Oh yeah I happened to have only 2 rolls of TP-DOH!!! I actually stuffed two rolls into my carry on back from Bangkok. Things are crazy but have a feeling it might get that much crazier........

I dont know what you guys think of Joe Rogan. Whatever you think of him its irrelevant. he had on a guy who described himself as a "infectious disease detective". Michael Osterholm is his name. I am not even halfway through and its totally scary. He says its early days into this things and says a vaccine will NOT be quick in coming. Fatality rates still not clear with this disease. We have been totally UNprepared for something like this for years. Also the fact that we dont make many types of drugs we need in this country and have outsourced it to China and India is a huge unforced error. He hinted that there are tings we can do to fight it and mitigate the disaster but I havent gotten to that part yet.......

it’s a huge if but IF things get under control within a few months, then things can get back to some type of normal quickly. Then there a huge amount of pent up demand. at first that’s why you haven’t seen the us airlines have mass layoffs quickly. To will see layoffs and cuts but story is still being told.

That’s precisely why youget in before the bottom Yeah you get hurt in the short term but it doesn’t matter. You don’t need the money for years. Then you eventually come out smelling like a rose. I tell you my stuff is probably down half or 40% of what the Dow and / or the S&P is at the moment. But then again I won’t need too take that money out for years. Anyway I am prohibited from taking it out for another 2 years plus. I had no intention of starting to take any out anyway. having said the above things change. I am in the airline biz so all bets are off. My job should be safe as I am more than half way up the Seniority food chain. In this biz s seniority is king.

It will get worse before it gets better. The way the market is tanking does NOT say you will be buying on the cheap for the future. It’s not saying that at all. I think it’s saying the opposite. I am not saying it’s correct. But let’s see where it is in two years.

You know call me crazy but I think this sell off is a huge over reaction. what will probably happen is that there is a spike, then a leveling off, then a decline. This is the history of modern pandemics. if that’s what happens, can we all get back to a semblance of normalcy and a lack of panic??? a few years after the 2008 crisis people looked back and couldn’t believe how cheap some companies/prices were. Ten years after that and you would have made a total killing. i have a feeling the same thing can and might happen 18 months from now.

Its crazy! Its scary! Was it Baron Von Rothschild who said "the time to buy is when there is blood in the streets!" I know JP Morgan said it as well. I know I am living in a bit of a bubble here in Bangkok (for the next week or so anyway) but this strikes me as a totally hysterical panic. Lots of instability especially in the oil markets. The Saudis are looking to rip out Russian throats. Huge problem for the Russians. The Saudi can turn on the faucet almost indefinitely. Its costs getting it out of the ground are next to nothing. this is dysfunctional and probably a total over reaction. I could understand it better if hordes were dropping like flies due to this CoronaVirus but its not like that, is it? Also I dont understand why gold isnt way up. It should be.

Yeah but trying to time the bottom is nigh impossible. If you have a long term outlook, then but before it hits bottom. Time is your friend. I have a feeling we will look back in a few years and remark that they couldn’t believe they got some of these quality companies at such good prices. i thought the same thing after the crisis in 2007/2008 and there were some total bargains to be had. Fortune favors the brave.

I do believe there is a buying opportunity here somewhere. Where that is is anyone’s guess. It would take a fairly tough set of stones to jump in. However, it’s been proven that tough, uncertain times are the best to buy. But like I said it takes a lot of stones. A fairly lengthy time frame held as well. while the market is down about 10%, my stuff is down considerably less than that. Think my holdings are down about 4.5%. Not good but when it’s gone up about 20% in the last two years or so, it puts things in perspective.
