Woodie
"Someone" I know has just returned to Thailand after 5 days in Japan. Now in bed with a fever. I understand that there is another virus doing the rounds in Japan, so who knows. Being in a plane is about the easiest way to catch a bug. The Factories in China are supposed to re open next week ... well good luck with that. Its much much worse than being reported .... ,mark my words. The global economy is in for a very rough ride . Coronavirus: Sharp increase in deaths and cases in Hubei There was also a huge increase in the number of cases, with 14,840 people diagnosed with the virus. Hubei has started using a broader definition to diagnose people - which accounts for most of the rise in cases. China sacked two top officials in Hubei province hours after the new figures were revealed. Until Wednesday's increases, the number of people diagnosed in Hubei - where the outbreak emerged - was stabilising. But the new cases and deaths in the province have pushed the national death toll above 1,350 - with almost 60,000 infections in total. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-51482994

If corona really gets loose all over the world it will be really bad. But most likely it won't. I saw a not so optimistic scientist the other day claiming 1/3 to 2/3 of everyone on the planet will get Corona. A anti China conservative US congressman claims China made this virus. There is so much BS out there believing any one (or two or...) source is probably a fools errand. After the world's big scare over swine flu, that didn't come true, most people think it's all alarmist. Corona is 20+ times more deadly than the regular flu strains and doesn't just kill the young and old. Hell who knows what will be true in the end and that is what makes it news worthy. Although regular news these days has become to much like sports news. They put anything in the news often having no real insight/facts. seven
Southeast Asia feels the burn as virus keeps Chinese tourists at home Across Laos, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia, tourist takings have plummeted as Chinese travellers find themselves subject to a host of travel restrictions Elephant parks unvisited, curios at markets unsold as tuk-tuks sit idle: Southeast Asia is facing billions of dollars in losses from a collapse in Chinese tourism since the outbreak of a deadly new coronavirus. From Luang Prabang in northern Laos to Pattaya in Thailand, Hoi An in Vietnam and the Cambodian casino town of Sihanoukville, takings have plummeted as Chinese travellers find themselves subject to a host of restrictions at home and abroad. "We haven't had any Chinese for 10 days since they closed the road from Yunnan," says Ong Tau, 47, from behind her stall of fruit shakes in the temple-studded Laotian colonial town of Luang Prabang. "Business is down 20-30 percent... it will get worse." https://www.yahoo.com/news/southeast-asia-feels-burn-virus-keeps-chinese-tourists-043959223.html Will this adjust the THB to farang money, I wonder? Pdoggg
A Thai man was attacked and poked fun at over the Covid-19 coronavirus in London, leading to Royal Thai Embassy officials taking him to hospital after he sustained a broken nose, Foreign Ministry spokesman Cherdkiat Atthakor said today (February 17). The assault may have come from racism and prejudice against him, an Asian. While local police are investigating, Thailand’s Foreign Ministry said it appreciated Pawat’s post warning Thais and other Asians to be aware of such a situation in Britain. https://www.nationthailand.com/news/30382279
Pdoggg
Quote Public Health Ministry officials will be prohibited from travelling to risky countries, he added. If travel is required, personnel are required to self-quarantine for 14 days. At-risk countries include China, Macau, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, Italy, Iran and Japan. Mr Anutin said that Covid-19 has been classified as a dangerous communicable disease. Under the change, anybody with suspect symptoms after visiting a high-risk country must report to the authorities within three hours. In an earlier Facebook post, Mr Anutin said Thailand has detected more suspected cases and groups at risk of contracting the disease, as well as infections from travellers returning home after visiting high-risk countries. “Those who are planning to travel abroad in this period, if it’s possible to avoid that, please avoid it,” Mr Anutin said. “We are entering a full war with Covid-19.” Returning travellers must report where they went to disease control officers stationed at airports, he said in the Facebook post, adding people shouldn’t conceal symptoms as that could cause the virus to spread. At the briefing, the health minister again discouraged Thais from unnecessary travel. "For the airlines, please reduce promotions," Mr Anutin said. "Even though tickets are cheap, it could be your last holiday."

seven
The last 24 hours the first cases in Sweden have been established. First was a guy in his 30's whos been to northern Italy in mid february was diagnosed yesterday. Hes feeling alright though except a cold. I think we should remember that if you do get the virus , most will have symptoms of a flu or a cold , and not necessarily end up with pneumonia and eventually sign off.
Pdoggg
Quote A dog in Hong Kong has tested positive for the coronavirus that’s killed at least 2,859 humans across the world over the last two months, World Health Organization officials said Friday. Quote White House Chief of Staff Mulvaney urges public to turn off TV White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney suggested Friday that Americans ignore the media’s coverage of the coronavirus, arguing that journalists are ratcheting up fears to try to hurt President Donald Trump politically. Mulvaney claimed that the media has only started paying close attention to the coronavirus because “they think this is going to be what brings down the president.” WTF As per the dog perhaps a relief it's not HIV. Pdoggg
Quote President Donald Trump said Friday that Democrats are using the virulent coronavirus as a “hoax” to damage him and his administration. “The Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus,” he said from a campaign rally in North Charleston, South Carolina. “One of my people came up to me and said ‘Mr. President they tried to beat you on Russia, Russia, Russia. That didn’t work out too well.’ They couldn’t do it. They tried the impeachment hoax that was on a perfect conversation,” he continued. “This is their new hoax,” he said, referring to the coronavirus. What a fucking stupid thing to say. Trump makes yet another thing all about him. If Coronavirus turns out to be no big deal, then say it was a Dem hoax. But if Coronavirus turns out to be even worse than expected then there will be soundbites calling it a Dem Hoax with Trup slow to react. Heckuva job Trumpy.
