JaiDee
Got this thrown at me at quiz night last week; and wasn't even close :-( What year, within 5 years, was Folsom Prison Blues first released? Quote Link to comment
rxpharm
No, I think earlier than that possibly 1965. Quote Link to comment
Kahuna
I truly don't know but I think RX may be closer to the actual date...It is an old piece... Ever listen to the words....How in the hell can he shoot a man in Reno, NV and end up in a prison in Folsom, CA....Never made sense to me..............great song though............ JaiDee
I said '68 and I was wrong......I think that's the year the LIVE recording was made in the prison itself. I'll let someone else guess before I give the actual date. Quote Link to comment
Hefe
I'll guess '60 since I think he recorded it first in the old Sun Studios... actually in that case make it '59! (I connect Sun with the 50s.) Quote Link to comment
Hefe
I wonder if The Ramones are the first famous rock band from the 60s-70s where all the original members are dead already.... anyone? Quote Link to comment

Can't think of any other band right now, but give it time, we'll see soon enough. Within 10 years all the Stones will be gone Quote Link to comment

Within 10 years all the Stones will be gone Can't recall the exact quoye but Richards said something like this once; "All the doctors who have been telling me to change my lifestyle or I will be dead soon are all dead now." He's outlived 'em all, who would ever guess?? Here's a pic from Anthony Bourdain's twitter feed yesterday, posing with Iggy Pop on a beach in Miami Quote Link to comment
Hefe
I saw the Ozzy Ozbourne doc last week, how he managed to cheat the reaper is unfathomable. I'm no fan of his work or TV show but he comes off as a likable guy (& lucky!) & the film is entertaining to watch. Quote Link to comment

JaiDee
I saw the Ozzy Ozbourne doc last week I'd highly recommend his Bio as well......one of the better rock-star bio's I have ever read, he's just an ordinary fellow from the slums who made it as a rocker......even when he started having some cash he'd just hang out at the pub with the locals, never put on airs. Sabbath was named "Best Metal Band" ever in a recent poll of about 250 rockers, no real surprise there, they influenced a whole generation or 2 of bands. Quote Link to comment
