JaiDee
Since Breaking Bad has the same initials as you BB, I think it's mandatory that you watch it!  That, plus the fact that it could be the best TV show ever made.   Here's a new place for you all, location and approximate year, please; Quote Link to comment

JaiDee
Correct city, but a little too recent!  It is from 1960, that would be the Walking street area now. Quote Link to comment

pacman
Pattaya 1975?  I was there in 76 & it was much more developed than that. No traffic lights or anything but more buildings.  Here's what is now Walking Street  -   here's where I stayed  -   and here's the lovely white sandy beach next to Beach Road with a couple of fishing boats  -  1 Quote Link to comment
Tomcat
Paccers  Do you remember the Ocean View Hotel .. it was built around then and one of the best Hotel designs i ever see until they knocked it down to make way for the Mall.. Quote Link to comment
pacman
No, I can't recall any "proper" hotel in Pattaya. There were no high rise buildings from memory. Â Do you know when the Ocean View was built? And which mall are you referring to? Quote Link to comment
Tomcat
it was a three story Hotel , the first built in Pattaya , the Nova Lodge was the second. Where Central Fetsival is now Quote Link to comment
pacman
I can't really be certain. If it was three stories built in the old tropical timber bungalow style I might have gone right past it. I am sure I would have noticed a modern building but it's too long ago for me to be certain. Quote Link to comment
Hefe
BB... you must watch Breaking Bad, perhaps the best series ever on TV. One note of caution is that it follows the evolution of a character from Mr. Peepers into Scarface & accordingly the first several episodes are a bit slow at times when he is the typical Everyman living his life in suburbia. But as he gradually always makes the wrong moral choices the series adapts in tempo. Â I knew a few people that couldn't make it to the 4th episode because of the lack of typical television dramatic histrionics while he was a teacher & family man. Â ----- Those early photos make Pattaya seem idyllic. A lost era... Quote Link to comment

I must be among these people who BB lost, because I remember watching one of the early episodes and I zapped away after 15 minutes I think. Sometimes friends are needed who tell you, "you must watch it, it's good, just wait until the 4th episode"... Quote Link to comment
JaiDee
My German landlord on Phangan did the same thing; I copied season 1 onto his hard drive and he watched probably 20 minutes of the first episode.  He says to me with a perplexed look - and his Deutschland accent - "that was a very weird show, why do I want to watch a guy running around in his underwear?"    Too bad for you guys, you missed out on what I and many others consider to be the best drama show in television history.
