If I'm drunk enough it's a blast even though I can't sing.

I don't usually like karaoke, but one year for my birthday, my gf arranged a session with 4 of her lb friends, all quite attractive. It was quite the evening and was actually fun!

 

However, I wouldn't arrange a session myself with friends.

Only with a few drinks on board and then it can be a blast especially with good mates and a relevant song like "He ain't heavy, he's my brother".

Love it! That's one Asian custom I've embraced wholeheartedly.

Over here when I occasionally go with some Japanese friends they are pretty serious about their song craft but the Americans, especially the men, act the buffoon when handed a mic.... unknowingly losing face big time with the Japanese women they are interested in.

I've been there and done that in Japan and fully concur we do not approach it in the same way as the Japanese who take it most seriously. It is really something for them, almost religious and ceremonial
