  1. A year ago, you were worried that if tourism didn't improve in Pattaya, you'd have to move back to Isaan. What led to your decision to leave the city? The COVID situation became more severe. There were no tourists or foreigners staying in Pattaya, and I was very worried about COVID. I started to think about going home because there were almost no customers. My roommates went back home around November last year. It was sad. Our room was quiet, and I still had to pay rent for the room [on my own]. Luckily, over New Year's Eve, I made some money from a customer from Bangkok who came to Pattaya for an island holiday, and I saved it. In early January, the bar owner decided to close the business. I wasn't sure what else to do in Pattaya. I called my mother and told her I was coming home. But I didn't leave for another [few weeks] because I was trying to find a job in a [government-designated quarantine] hotel in Pattaya, but no luck. What was the city like on the day you left? I was speechless. I lived in Pattaya for [six years] and never thought that Pattaya would become a deserted city. Pubs and bars that were always lit up at night are now shut down. The beach is lonely without tourists. At night, the beach has become a place for people [who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19] to sleep, and others go there to donate food to the homeless. When I think about it, my heart aches. I'm happy I survived. Before the pandemic, you had dreams of saving enough money in Pattaya to buy more farmland for your family and starting your own rubber tree plantation in Isaan. How much of a dent did the pandemic put in your savings? I only had a small amount of money left. I had about 10,000 baht [$300] saved and used it to pay off my rent in Pattaya. I sent some money [in advance] to my mother for the expenses of my two sons, about 3,000 baht [$100]. What was it like when you first got home to your province? When I returned to my hometown, I still couldn't stay at our home. I had to report to the village leader and was required to quarantine for 14 days. My mother sent me to live on our [small] rubber plantation. She sent me some food and drinking water. After the quarantine period was over, I was able to go home. I didn't have much to do apart from [helping my mom with her] rubber plantation. I was frustrated because I didn't know what to do next with my life. I began to look for work, starting with applying for a job as a Grab rider [a motorcycle-delivery and ride-hailing app]. There are not many restaurants for food-delivery service in my hometown, so most of my job was picking up passengers or parcels. It did not earn much money but was better than staying home and earning nothing. I was also picking up a few shifts at the 7-Eleven and working as a life insurance agent. Your mom and sons depended on your income as a sex worker to supplement their living expenses. How did they survive when you returned to Isaan and did not have a steady job? Living at home without any money [in Isaan] is not as difficult as living in Pattaya. In the countryside, we own a house so we don't need to pay rent. My mother grows vegetables for herself. Sometimes we buy meat from the market, and the price of fresh food is not expensive like in Pattaya. Last year, my mother leased half of her rubber plantation to some farmers, so she made enough cash to live on. What are you doing now? I [started] working as an accounting officer at a hospital [in early July]. My friend told me that the hospital was looking for staff. I had to take an accounting exam to be able to apply. I wanted this job because I intended to [make enough money to] continue improving our house. Before the pandemic, you said your job in Pattaya's red-light district earned you more money than from your previous office job. Are you making enough money in your office position now? I'm a full-time employee with a monthly income. The salary may not be much, but there are health care, child's education and pension benefits. How does COVID continue to affect you? I'm afraid I will be infected with COVID because there are infected patients who come to the hospital. I protect myself by wearing a double mask. What is life like for you now? My routine has changed. On the weekends, I have time to be with my family. I'm making new friends. [Instead of going to bed late because of my evening shift at the bar], I get up early and go to a daytime job. It's funny — I used to complain that someday I would have to sleep like a normal person! Do you miss anything about Pattaya? Party life, handsome men, drinking with friends. I hardly drink now because of my new profession, but I miss it so much. https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2021/09/08/1033267519/whatever-happened-to-the-thai-sex-worker-trying-to-rebuild-her-life-in-a-pandemi

  2. it's at the junction of beach road and soi Watboon Ciobha. [PD...beach road and soi PD motorcy shop] have just been down there for a look. no traffic allowed through north or south bound along beach road. Some locals may recall that there was major drainage works there about 4 years back... a big hole at the same junction for ages. the contractors were thrown off for taking too long. They blamed the delay on 'too many thai holidays' anyway for the benefit of anyone trying to get into jomty, it appears that baht buses are coming down 2nd road as far as soi Watboon, turning right into watboon then down to beach road, then left up to the posh end of beach road, where i live. plenty of baht buses this morning too. Going back into Pattaya the route is reversed. basically the town end of beach road it seems, can be reached by getting off a bus at the statue and walking. if of course you can wade through the floods!

  4. IMHO, no one ver casted you a stone. We still hold you in high esteem but you rae becoming pathetic. In the ancient Egypt they used to delete from hieroglyphics the name of pharaohs who had proved unworthy of their responsibility. More recently, a nation like Germany decided to forget about their hero, the chancellor who had managed their reunification since he had embezzled money for the benefit of his political party. Stop wavering between your calls for a reconciliation that will not come and your harsh criticisms against PY. Delete them from your posts, be ready to retaliate against their attacks but avoid rubbing salt in the wounds. Is this really so hard for you to look for legends far from these assholes ? Neither Kendo nor LDP will ever come to LBR to thgank you for your initiative.

  6. Howard Stern has made his thoughts very clear about people refusing the COVID-19 vaccine: "F*** them." Stern, who is no stranger to airing his controversial opinions, went on a rant against anti-vaxxers on his SiriusXM show this week. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/howard-stern-covid19-anti-vaxxeres-rant-183532534.html "F*** them. F*** their freedom. I want my freedom to live. I want to get out of the house already. I want to go next door and play chess. I want to go take some pictures. This is bulls***." The 67-year-old shock-jock added, "the other thing I hate is that all these people with COVID who won't get vaccinated are in the hospitals clogging it up." Stern suggested people who chose not to get the vaccine should be refused treatment. "Go f*** yourself," he said. "You had the cure, and you wouldn't take it." Stern also railed against his conservative peers who died from COVID-19. "It's really funny when these radio, the radio guys are the best... four of them died, four of them were like ranting on the air they will not get vaccinated. They were on fire, these guys. It was like day after day, they were all dying, and then their dying words are 'I wish I had been more into the vaccine. I wish I had taken it,'" he declared. Stern's longtime co-host, Robin Quivers, chimed in, saying she has "trouble drumming up compassion" for "people that stupid." "Me too," Stern agreed. "Where do I have that clip of that Marc Bernier, the guy who died?" Stern asked, referring to the right-wing radio host who called himself "Mr. Anti-Vax." "Yeah, he's dead," Stern said. "He no longer walks." Stern is still trending on Thursday over his remarks.

  12. i'm unsure whether you mean within the Emmy club or in general topics Rom. If you mean the latter, then it would usually be relevant to a post in a topic, not just an advert for Emmy's. And not that often. If you mean inside the Emmy club, well, at the risk of being accused of being the forum's new ace statistician... [who 's that?]..... since the Emmy club was started: Posts... Emmy Emmy 178. Posts Quietguy... 116 Posts Bbg... 181 now, please remember that a lot of my posts are what could be called administration or something like... e.g welcoming 69 new members with a 'hello thanks for joining' [okay in the early days i didn't do that] also about 20 posts with music vids to kick off the bar music thing. also the weekly or bi-weekly notification in the livestream tab. Yes, i know that i'm recognised as the Emmy club man... but pestering? in reality most general posts in the Emmy club are from Emmy herself followed by QG. just thought i'd tell you.. bit of a nonsense post really, feel free to hoover if you want to. no worries. But i can assure you Kendo or LBP will probably be never mentioned in the Emmy club... hopefully! regs.

  14. Watching this new video after the opening I just realized I don't want to go there. Look at all these assholes. Its easy to miss the place from a distance, but thanks to these youtubers you get a brutal reminder what the place is like: The fat chink who takes his rottweiler and the terrified german Shepard to the beach just to show off, while the other little piglet can hardly hold back the other rottweiler, then some assholes walking cats in harness on the beach, then at 6:54 all the turtles eyeing up some meat 60 years their junior. This isn't pretty. Thank you youtube for reminding me what Pattaya is like, ladymen or not.

  15. Yes and Yes. As BBG mentioned there is no social safety net for informal workers in Thailand. Rent is at least 1000 baht a month and let's say food is 3000 baht. So how can they earn 4000 baht a month? When the choice is between eating and kissing farang, unvaccinated sex workers will risk inhaling airborne particles and kiss farang. They figure it's probably not any more dangerous than unprotected anal sex. But many of the few remaining farang don't seem particularly promiscuous these days eering on the side of caution. So yes, many have returned home.
