Irishmen Stab Thais

A couple of Irish lads had an altercation with some Thais at New Plaza, late last night. Two Thais were stabbed and are now in the hospital while the Irishmen are being questioned by the police.

The dispute, fueled by booze, had something to do with a barfine gone awry.

New Plaza is a group of inexpensive beer bars on the opposite side of 2nd Road from Soi 8.

Methinks the Irish lads are in a spot of bother.

If in fact they were carrying their own knives they deserve everything they get.

I saw this on Thai Visa and even commented on the thread, something I very rarely do on that message board. The story reads to me like 2 drunken Irish guys {redundant?} took home a couple girls, the girls wanted nothing to do with them in that drunken state, so the guys took 'em back to the bar after closing time for their bar fine refund. Which, surprisingly, the bar owner dutifully handed back over to them and they left.

But that wasn't enough for Paddy and, well, Paddy. They went home and got a knife and went BACK to the bar looking for trouble; always a great idea in Thailand by the way.

We don't know all the details of course, but it seems like these guys being locked up for stabbing someone and most likely facing deportation at best and a 2 or 3 year prison term at worst deserved what they got. You gotta know when to quit while you are ahead, lads!

If they were flick knives that the lads bought from The Beach Rd, then I'm just fuckin' amazed that they actually worked!!!

In all seriousness, none of this sounds right or makes sense, especially if the boys had been given a refund. I think there's a line of Thai bullshit or cover up that's maybe being spun here... Sounds more like the lads WERE NOT given a refund & I'd then take an educated guess at a bit of intimidation being handed out their way before they retaliated?!

I just hope they don't get in a shit load of trouble for something that they well & truly might have been provoked into.

We all know how knee jurkie, bullyish & unreasonable, trigger happy pissed Thai's can be!.. So please Donnykey & JaiDee, please don't be so quick to condemn, even if the kids were carrying (and I say that as someone who detests weapons), it might have been their only hope for either justice or redress.

Has it happens there's been a few stories of us giving it back to the Thais for a change, the best one coming from up here in CMX just a little while ago... Anyway, during our local BIB midnight bar clamdown before Xmas a bundle of stroppy BKK Thai cops came terrorizing their way into a mate of mine's bar who was at the time entertaining a group of American 'Delter Force' troops fresh over here from Afghanistan & currently doing maneuvers with the Thais... Anyway, owing to some loss od face one of the Thai 'Bad Boys' got a gun out & actually fired the thing... The Yanks then systematically took the Thai cops out, hospitalizations the lot... Upshot, the Yanks have been asked to go & the BKK police specialist now have an enormous amount of egg on their faces & my poor friend has now had to sell the bar at a knock down price just to get out!

I told PDogg about this story over the Crimble holidays... The story actually got pulled from Thai Visa after only 4 hrs!!!

Everyone around here knows about the story, but this is the only place you'll see it written!

And BTW, a bunch of English lads went back & did a gang of rip of jet ski operators about a year & a half ago in Patts by 'steaming' them after they'd been fleeced, humiliated & roughed up, there were stabbings there also... And all the Brit 'footie' lads knew about it, but nothing was ever reported!

So as far as I'm concerned it's well done the Yanks & well done the English lads... And until we hear any more I'm going to say in all probability 'well done the Irish lads too'!!!

I can't see how anyone coming to Thailand, tooled up & after trouble would get past their first couple of taxi rides. :hocky:

Lung, thanks for telling that story mate. All too often you hear and at time see with your own eyes how thai lads react when they don't understand when something has went wrong or someone makes a complaint. The first thing they do is try to wave /shrug it off, then when you persist, they become aggressive and try to as you say, intimidate you in backing off. Thing is though, if you do back off, they often become more aggressive. They see it as they have one over on you and this is their way of exerting more dominance over you.

So, I too am happy to read your story that western lads are giving their own back.

When in a foreign domain and do not understand the drum beat (or increasing volume of same) retreat, smile, apologize, demonstrate sincere humility, be forgiving, and do whatever one must do to avoid testosterone silliness or worse, tragedy. Otherwise you are an ass and deserve whatever thumping might befall you.

In the pursuit of what might be missing in their lives many a wise men have been tamed by taking the time to understand, accept, admire, and love of what is different.

When i first read this, it brought back a story about a friend of my brother who i knew to see , but i never liked him. Anyways his name was Brian Moore, and he was known as the "bollox" moore, so 2 years ago he got shot dead by police in or near LA in the US. He had tried to hold up a petrol station and a off-duty officer saw him and shot him with a '44.

So when they brought back his body to Ireland, his fomer friends and many people who he had caused trouble too, wanted to place a extra headstone that read.....

" Here lies Brian (b*ll*x) Moore,

4 shots from a '44,

no bollox, no moore."

This was eventually not put up cause of the upset it gave the close family.

Sorry if this is completely off-topic.
