Breaking Bad.

Recommended Posts

While the chat is on about movies, i have to recomend breaking bad as maybe the best series of all time.

i say maybe, as it draws level with the soprano,s.

4 series, all available to download on torrentz.

episode one is a pilot, and will get you hooked.

a science teacher starts to manufacture chrystal meth with an ex pupil.

enjoy.

I'm with Redrock - I'll probably start watching it tonight.

I got a bunch of guys at work telling me I needed to watch it a couple years ago, I tried a couple episodes but the concept - a guy making this super destructive, super addictive drug methamphetamine - was just too much for me to be able to enjoy it. I just couldn't get past the concept. I've had close dealings and relationships with too many people over the years that had been horribly damaged by meth that it just seemed wrong to be making an entertainment about it.

As it's continued to wrack up awards and accolades, I decided I was missing out and that I was going to have to get over my repugnance with the concept and try to enjoy it. I bought seasons 1-4 at Pantip Plaza in February (hopefully they're watchable) and I've set my TIVO to catch the new season, as well as reruns of season 4 which are currently playing.

This thread is the final push I needed. I'll start watching tonight and report back later.

I just watched the pilot episode and am halfway into the 1st regular episode, and I'm already hooked.

I don't know what my buddies at work lent me, maybe it was season 2, or maybe I started with an episode later in this season, but I never got any of the setup, which makes a world of difference. Great stuff.

I was never really into The Sopranos. I saw a few episodes over the years, but as with most of those types of shows the continual story lines from one week to the next mean that following it from start to finish is very important for maximum enjoyment. I may check out Breaking Bad, but my attitude toward it has always been the same as DT's was. Since he has set aside his feelings about the drug in general and can enjoy the show, maybe I can too. There is nothing much I hate worse in this world though than crystal meth and the people who make it. If any drug could be labeled the devil's drug, it is the one.

My favorite such series has definitely been Deadwood and it was a crying shame it ended after 3 seasons. I have seen Weeds from the start to date, and like it very much. Also watched Boardwalk Empire all the way through so far and have been enjoying it.

The chrystal meth stuff is not the whole show.

the show is how they buy the chemicals, where to cook it, sell it, the problems with dealers, keeping it secret, the DEA trying to find who the new cooks are.

its a cat and mouse rollercoaster of problems all the way.

brilliant.

Breaking Bad has come heavily recommended from a lot of people I work with but I just haven't the time to fit it in amongst other shows I've got stacked up at the moment:

- Season 2 of Game of Thrones

- Season 2 of Walking Dead

- Season 4 (now 5) of True Blood

also re-watching The Wire as my house mate has finally started getting into it so upto season 2 with him.

Trouble is, after a night of sitting watching a mixture of these shows we're in dire need of some comedy to lighten the mood as all of the above can be quite heavy and graphic....god love HBO!

Boardwalk Empire I found a slow starter but definitely got better as the first season went on.

I think the common theme overall is that I find myself not watching hardly any British made TV at all, BBC's new Sherlock was decent but sadly too much TV is pitched at the lowest common denominator so we end up with endless Talent Shows and Reality shows clogging up the networks. A reason cited by Andrew Lincoln as to why he ended up taking the lead in Walking Dead as there were no good drama projects back in the UK.

It took a little bit to get into Breaking Bad, seasons 1 and 2 were good for me, but holy shit, seasons 3 and 4 were unbelievable! Season 5 is starting out just as riveting. This has been one of the best "building" shows I've ever seen.

With that said, I'll still take The Wire and Deadwood over BB, mainly for the vast amount of great characters on those shows.

The Wire better than the Sopranos?.....no way,and I'll tell you why....plot much too thin, characters had no real depth, not a single likeable character ,and too too dark....besides that,I kinda liked it,sort of.BUT....breaking bad ,from what ive seen up to now ,is right up there with the Sopranos, maybe even better.

YeeeFuckin'Ha!

Just finished watching the 6th episode of Season 1. "Crazy Handful of Nothin" is the title. Don't want to spoil it for those thinking of watching it, but for you guys that have seen it, it's the one where he throws the "crystal" on the floor of the distributor's 2nd floor room and - well, something unexpected happens.

I was exhilarated. Took a bit of patience to get here, but man... no looking back now.

As I said before, I found Deadwood totally unbeatable. Nothing has held my interest more. Maybe I'm just a cowboy at heart. I know my good friend Panzer Porn loved it too. We talked about it for a couple hours one evening. Since David Milch was the brains behind it, I decided to look for more of his creations. I found another HBO series by him that was only 12 one hour episodes but I loved it. John from Cincinnati. Many of the same actors as were in Deadwood. Dayton Callie, Jim Beaver, Garret Dillahunt and Paula Malcomson. Austin Nichols, who played the lead character, also had a small part in Deadwood. Also one of my favorite actors, Ed O'Neill, (Al Bundy) was great in this series. I torrented all 12 episodes and watched it in two nights.

On a trivial pursuit matter regarding Deadwood star Ian McShane......he's actually a Manchester lad,and his father played for MUFC in their title winning team in '52....he later became a talent scout for United......(sorry ,probably of interest to only me and Duke..)

He's agreat actor anyway, always like him...
