JaiDee
You know BB and Fie, I swear many people have told me over the years, if they were patient enough to sit through the retelling of this whole story; "you should write a book about that", or yes, some kind of a movie. But truth be told I have always been wary that any story I may have to tell would be destined for a mass market; soooooo many stories come from the misadventures of other Ex-pats in Asia that there would have to be a really incredible, eye-popping story or movie to ever make a dent on the public at large by this point. In truth, I think a better story would be the Camera one, combined with this one, which would only be chapter 7 or so. Starting in the year 2000, it would end in 2010 with one long chapter for each year and it would be be called "Decade" and could be quite a read for the uninitiated, but 2 problems would arise; One, it would need a competent ghost writer as I am not qualified to do the writing myself, and two, the Ladyboy angle would have to be changed to real females to make it sell to a broader market.....which would of course dilute the story and take away from the whole truthful angle of it, which I am determined to keep. But you never know, I certainly have time on my hands..... Thanks as always for the encouragement, when people tell me they like these tales it makes me feel more like continuing on
JaiDee
If you were expecting some kind of physical violence or some similar kind of retribution against these 5 people, then the ending to this long story may be rather anti-climactic for you. It would certainly be more cool to say that they got roughed up one-by-one with a sledgehammer, and they certainly deserved that kind of treatment, but it just wouldn’t be true; I was a pornographer, not a murderer. And in any case just getting a confession and admission of guilt from each one would work by this point, it was time to just end the whole thing after a fun week of playing with their minds. I knew they didn’t have 3 grand to give me, losers who commit small-time crimes on foreigners while operating out of the biggest hellhole on earth don’t have an extra 100K baht just lying around, and surely my passport was destroyed by now and in any case I had a new one already. No, I would have to be content with just getting my confessions; as well as making sure they never did this type of scam again. The first one rolled in from Supin, by way of a telephone call to one of my Thai guys; she explained to him that she didn’t even know she was part of any scam, that Harold had talked her into using her bank account number with a promise of 100K baht; something that would be mentioned later as part of his apology. She assured my guy that she was back in Buriram now with her Mom and had no intentions of ever seeing Harold again and indeed would never even go back to Pattaya; her Mom came on the line and confirmed that in a very angry tone, as if she had done some serious scolding of her daughter who was utterly stupid for getting mixed up with these farang asswipes. One down. We never did get any line on the New Zealand guy, he was the only one who hadn’t left any kind of a trail. But he wrote me anyway from within the shared Yahoo address they had, saying he was deeply sorry and that he had been talked into the whole thing [a common theme from all 5; funny how these losers can’t even think for themselves]. I replied from a new address and told him; “remember when you said in the bungalow that under different circumstances we would likely be friends and I agreed? I lied; I don’t want any criminals as my friends”. Number 2 down. Aussie asshole was still a bit stand-offish, he hated being caught red-handed and also surely hated writing an apology letter. Same as his gorilla buddy he explained that he was suckered into the whole thing, that it was a bad decision and that he would be going back to Australia now. Ronald has a contact in Immigration and sure enough 5 days later his passport was scanned in as departing from BKK airport; that same contact put his as well as Tom and Harold’s passport on a watch list and none had come back into the country for up to a year from that date. Ronald even asked me: “which ones of these assholes do you want put on a blacklist so they can never enter the country again?” Showing that I was the only one who had any class left from this whole debacle I simply replied; “none”. But I did want to know if any came back in after leaving so we kept them on a watch list, in which Ronald’s contact would be notified if any of the 3 names we had ever entered again. Tom the fake private eye was the last one to write, about 3 days later. Still not fully admitting to his involvement, he was full of shit because he wouldn’t even have been writing to me if the other 4 hadn’t talked him into it to save their own skins. Explaining that he was duped into some kind of fringe activity by Harold, it was pretty funny because Harold had said the same thing about him in his own apology letter. He went on to say that he was upset with me for referring my old webmaster friend to him, that his work sucked and cost him any chance of his private eye business ever taking off. Yeah, right. And even if that were so, that is somehow MY fault because I introduced the two of them? These were two 40-year old men, it wasn’t my job to look over my ex-employee’s shoulder to see if he was doing a good job or not and frankly I didn’t give a fuck. He said he would now be closing this account because he knew that I had infected it with a virus LOL. . . this guy was so fucking retarded that he thought viruses infected someone’s e-mail account, not the computer they were on; in any case, same as Harold and Aussie guy his e-mail account was indeed closed within a day or 2 as all three believed we had cracked their passwords. He explained that he was now leaving Thailand, highly plausible since his money from the scam on Mister Jones would be just about gone by now, and indeed his U.S. passport was scanned in as leaving BKK via the airport 9 days later. I replied that he was damn lucky to be allowed to even leave the country with his head still attached to his shoulders, and that if I even felt someone looking at me the wrong way over the course of the next several years he’d be lucky to get a job calling out bingo numbers to little old ladies at a VFW hall in Winnemucca. Harold — you poor, insecure, effeminate bastard with the nervous condition and jelly-filled backbone; you surely suffered the most from all of my game-playing the past 2 weeks and frankly you deserved it all. He didn’t even wait until the weekend to take off, his passport was shown having been scanned and stamped as departing on the exact day my final letter had been sent out. He wrote me from the UK the day he arrived home and figured he was safe, which I will paste in below; the subject heading read ‘Personal apologies’ and inside it was all in CAPS and this is verbatim, it was sitting in my old Gmail box from years ago; THIS IS NOT AN EASY MAIL TO WRITE. SINCE FIRST BEING COERSED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS DIRTY BUSINESS I HAVE BEEN MOST UNSETTLED. IRREGARDLESS OF WHAT OTHERS MAY THINK I DO HAVE A CONCIENCE AND WENT ALONG WITH THIS AGAINST MY BETTER JUDGEMENT AS I COULD SEE NO ALTERNATIVES AT THAT TIME. OF COURSE I HAVE BEEN MADE AWARE OF YOUR LATEST REVELATIONS AND I AM NOT THE MAIN MAN YOU WANTED TO WRITE YOU IN REPLY, BUT I HOPE HE DOES. I CARE NOTHING FOR THE OTHERS, NOR MYSELF; HOWEVER, I AM ASHAMED TO STATE THAT I ALLOWED MYSELF TO BECOME INVOLVED, I AM GENUINELY VERY SORRY THAT THIS HAPPENED. IT WAS ME WHO DUPED SUPIN INTO OPENING A BANK ACCOUNT, THIS GIRL IS TOTALLY INNOCENT AND HAS NO KNOWLEDGE WHATSOEVER OF ANYTHING RELATING TO THIS MATTER. I AM BEING VERY SINCERE WHEN I SAY TO YOU THAT I APOLOGISE PROFUSELY OVER WHAT HAS TRANSPIRED. I ALWAYS CONSIDERED YOU A FAIR AND GENUINE MAN AND REALISE THAT THERE IS NOTHING I CAN SAY THAT WILL MAKE AMENDS. I SINCERELY HOPE THAT WE CAN BURY THE HATCHET AND GO ON OUR SEPERATE PATHS WITHOUT EITHER OF US SEEKING RETRIBUTION. I HAVE NO INTENTIONS OF TAKING THINGS FURTHER. LIKEWISE, I HAVE NO INTENTIONS OF INDULGING IN SIMILAR SCHEMES IN THE FUTURE OR ASSOCIATING, WHATEVER THE PERSONAL CONSEQUENCES WITH THOSE INVOLVED MAY BE. I WISH TO RID MYSELF OF THIS BURDEN OF GUILT THAT IS WEIGHING SO HEAVILY ON ME. I AM TERMINALLY ILL AND ACCEPT MY FATE. GOD ALONE KNOWS I DESERVE AND WELCOME IT. SINCERE APOLOGIES. Check that last line; he alluded to the fact that he was terminally ill, something which had been going around Pattaya gossip circles for some time, but who knows if it was true or not. And I certainly don’t wish death or physical hardship on anyone, even if they committed a crime against me; but the fact is he did have a weak heart and also ran in some very dirty circles in the Pattaya sex scene so this was not out of the realm of possibility. Who knows; what I do know is that I still have an awfully lot of spies in Pattaya to this very day, farangs and also ladyboys I know who worked for him as models, and not one person can state with any certainty that they have seen him since all this happened; and he is VERY hard to miss. One LB did tell me that he was living up in Issan with a ladyboy, but that can not be confirmed and frankly I don’t give a shit what he’s doing these days, as long as he never contacts me again. In closing out this long story I would like to say that these 4 people are still out there somewhere, unless poor ol’ Harold did indeed meet his maker since all this happened. I would like to think that they would have the common sense to never commit any crimes again and certainly to never return to Pattaya, Phuket or Bangkok, as in all those places I would be immediately informed of their presence. If anyone reading here thinks they may know any of these characters, please feel free to PM me and tell me everything you know, including where they may be right now; these clowns should know that my network of farang friends, ladyboys and Thai’s is more vast than anything they could ever build themselves, and that I always have an eye out for what they may be up to. As far as I know they haven’t been seen anywhere in the tourist traps of Thailand since any of this happened, but as always we will be alert. Thanks for reading, The End
JaiDee
An addendum to the last part of this story. Since I first wrote this last spring there still has been no sign of any of these 5 people. I can only assume that Supin is still back in Buriram, and if the Aussie moron and his equally-retarded Kiwi friend are back in Thailand, I have never seen them around. The 2 ringleaders, Harold the photographer and Tom the fake private eye with the brains of a 10-year old child, have not been seen in Pattaya at all in these past 5 or 6 years, and since they were pretty much fixtures on the scene and I still have many friends who knew them and still live in Pattaya, they surely would have been spotted by now and they haven't been. One can only assume Harold may indeed have passed on, as living back in the UK was very unlikely for him. Tom may be back in the states, but who knows. Someone asked me the last time this was published "this is a relatively small community, aren't you concerned that one of these 4 westerners may see this story?". Not at all, and in fact I hope and pray that I run into these complete fools again some day; if one or more of them is reading here and wants some kind of retribution against me, wants to start this nonsense all over again, please feel free to send me a P.M. and we can meet tomorrow anywhere in Thailand of your choosing; I would love to have a chat with you about all this, and you can tell me which parts you think I got wrong. Lastly, a few others had said that I didn't do enough to these people, that physical violence or even murder was in order. Hmmmmmm.......I think the best punishment a person who loves Thailand could get is to be banished from the country, scared so much into leaving that they would never want to come back in for fear of what may happen to them. The fact that these 4 clowns left the country was enough for me; it cost me almost 4 thousands dollars and a month of some serious stress to uncover their pathetic little attempt at extortion, but in the end seeing them all flee the country for good was good enough for me.
Guest Fiedollah
like your way of thinking JaiDee & would love the contacts you have as nowhere on the scale of this i to have problems in Los albeit from heartbroken lb's lol but you should read the threats to myself and family here in UK. Thanks again for a great read. Fie dollah

JaiDee
Cheers gents, as always I am happy that others could take pleasure from my misery :) Turns out I may have a small lead on one of the scammers, the retarded one from the states who thought he was some kind of a private eye or something [he wasn't] and who thought he was the 'brains' behind this failed 5-person scam [he has none]. Will be in touch with a couple of my Bangkok connections this week to dig up some info on this clown, we may be able to have a little fun with him.
Flatpack
Great story and thankfully you can look back on it as a winner, if you didnt have the contacts and great friends it could have been so different. I admire you for taking these people on even though it must have been extremely stressful, the easy way would to have paid up, good on you for not giving in. I also admire your restraint in not having them dealt with, I dont think I could have done the same, a claw hammer, ankles, kneecaps, elbows and shoulders spring to mind but its probably best that you made the wiser decision. Thanks for the best read on this forum.
JaiDee
Cheers Flatpack, keep this story in mind as you start your business in Thailand; there are a lot of shady characters out there and many lazy people who would love to relieve *you* of all your hard-earned cash just so *they* can stay in Thailand a little longer. I enjoyed retelling this story, it was cathartic in a way but just as important it will hopefully show some people that getting too complacent is bad news in a 3rd-world country; I was extra-careful for 5 or 6 years before I slipped up and trusted the wrong person, but it only takes that one time. As mentioned, I spent about 4 grand in the end and a lot of sleepless nights and stress-filled days in between, but thankfully these 5 greaseballs got absolutely nothing to show for their troubles. dazedandconfused
Jaidee, you don't half write well and have some fine stories to tell! Read this from start to finish and was gripped. Like some of the others I admire your restraint in not going for a more lasting / physical revenge. I think I might have been tempted into an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth type scenario. Mind you, I suspect that you would perhaps not quite sleep so well at night if you had done this? It's always useful when living in Asia to have a good number of contacts on all sides of the divide. If you have movers who are highly placed in the official / legit side of things then so much the better. Living in a Farang bubble is not helpful if and when the chips are down. Your tale and your local network helping you out more than proves this. I have already used the word 'epiphany' in only my third previous post on this site. I'm suitably chastened! Cheers. Surin Nix
What an incredible read! 2 hours ago, I decided to take a little break from the tasks at hand.....and saw a link to this from PDogg. "What's this?", I thought. It has been a truly gripping, riveting tale. Thanks for taking the time to write this. What an extraordinary peek behind the scenes of what for most us is just a momentary diversion. ("Well now, let's check put today's featured ladyboy! Wouldn't it be fun to do this!" ...and man, I don't ever want to piss you off!

JaiDee
Thanks as always for the feedback, gents.....been away for a while and unable to read/contribute to the site lately, so it's cool to come back and see this story pulled up from the mothballs every now and again. *Regarding not taking REAL revenge on these mental lightweights and not having them deposited into the Chao Praya or at the very least beating the crap out of them; by the time I had gotten home and sorted this all out, I had calmed down considerably. Whereas we all sometimes fly off the handle at the slightest bit of provocation, after we stew on it a bit a calmer head usually prevails and we go about things 'smarter, not harder'. Getting them to leave Thailand was the main payback; we all know how much we love it there, imagine having to leave and not being able to go back? Besides, if I did physical violence to them, then maybe *I* would not have been able to return. Since no one has seen the main 2 culprits lurking in the shadows of Pattaya for the past 7 years - and they are both very easy to spot in our scene - I can only assume they are dead or working some shitty job back in their hometown, unable to enjoy the country we all love so dearly. Payback enough

I was searching through old posts looking for info on the demise of theladyboyforums when I came across this story and that was it for another hour.As an Australian who at times may have overused the word "mate", I must apologise. Seems like one of the keys was taking the time to step back and look at all the pieces it would have been easy to get rushed into following instructions. Speed was what they wanted, keeping you too scared to think straight.

You can go to the website - just search for it on Google, as I don't think it is good etiquette to post a link to it here.
