Emmanuelle (Sylvia Kristel) will be missed ...

My first exposure to anything related to Thailand -- I don't think Yul Brynner and The King and I counts -- was the film Emmanuelle, of all things, which I first saw in the early '80s on late-night cable as a young teenager of 13 (more than once, I might add -- I found Sylvia Kristel to be quite fappable). Now the movie doesn't really have much to do with Thailand other than being set in (and filmed in) Bangkok and the surrounding environs.

Still it made an impression on me; I remember thinking -- during the rare occasions when everyone on screen had their clothes on -- that I wanted to visit Thailand, and not *just* because it seemed where all these hot European women were having sex.

Hadn't thought about this in years, however, until just now, when I saw that Sylvia Kristel died. I wonder if seeing that movie at a young and impressionable age planted a seed in my subconscious with regard to Thailand many years before I ever heard of transgendered women, much less ladyboys. Plus I've always had a thing for girls with short hair -- again, long before I ever discovered the third sex.

Farewell, Sylvia.

I am with you on the attraction to chicks with short hair 4.17, it can be a great look on the right girl. I remember watching the series of Emmanuelle movies also in my younger days, set in exotic locations and thinking man I would love to check some of those places out when I get older, i e today.

Wasn't VHS a saviour in the 80s.

Just saw her obit. Had to go to Google Images to reminisce...

Growing up my siblings were all older than me and never paid me much mind -- my brothers certainly never slipped me any Playboys or anything. But my brother-in-law was super cool -- drove a Corvette and let me drink wine coolers at their house when I stayed over on weekends.

I used to wait for him to pass out on the couch so I could rifle through his box of Penthouses in the closet and wait for the late night shows on their naughty cable channels to come on. Those were the days, shaking like a leaf, all those chemical reactions coursing through your body. And Emmanuelle was my introduction to sex.

Man, I couldn't wait to grow up and for life to be like that -- women would just look at me and then we'd start doing it! :love0081::yahoo:

Vale Sylvia.

She's responsible for a river of semen in her time. I remember seeing Emmanuelle back in the day, such a good memory!

Now I read she was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2002. Throat cancer can be directly related to smoking so her habit cost her 20 to 30 years of her life.

It's a bit late for those stuck with a life time habit but when will cigarettes be classified a dangerous drug? Sorry if I sound holier-than-thou but I hate seeing kids light up.

Many's an all day wank-a-thon was had when I sneaked off school .

Sylvia Kristel was highly erotic , like those French ladies who popped up in the late night movies with subtitles .

Those old French movies were great , someone always got their kit off within the first ten mins or at the very least you'd get a flash of tit :animal0018:

I cant believe you were 13 in the Eighties ...

Generation X, born and bred: apathy, Reaganomics, MTV, video games and personal computers. 1,000 points of light. I remember when E was legal and we called it X; or was that the other way around? I was rocking the goth before someone thought to call it goth (long before it was Emo).

As for Emmanuelle and Sylvia Kristel, not surprised I'm not the only one. There are worse legacies to have, I suppose, although as she apparently often noted, it bothered her that non one ever recognized her for her work beyond the soft-core thinking-man's porn.

I agree. Tobacco use in any form, smoking or smokeless, is the stupidest damned habit a human can have.

I'm sure most all of us have some relatives who died prematurely due to their love of tobacco. .

I am sorry but calling someone stupid because they are addicted to tobacco products is not the way to convince them to quit using tobacco products...Moreover, in my opinion it is just plain rude...

Obviously you have no idea how difficult it is to give up tobacco products...Folks need to be encouraged not told how stupid they are...

I understand it is hard to quit. They say more so than heroin. I personally do not care if anyone else smokes. It is totally their choice.

IMO, it does no good to try to talk someone into quitting. They will quit when they are ready, no matter what anyone else thinks or says.

Even if I were a smoker or user of smokeless tobacco myself, my opinion of the stupidity of doing so would be the same. I have other stupid habits and have no qualms about admitting as much.
