SiamSam
Saw it in Copenhagen last week. No big deal. It opened in Europe 2 weeks before the domestic release here in North America. It was for sale on DVD in Bangkok last month. Quote Link to comment

dazedandconfused
Saw Skyfall last week. It's never going to challenge Citizen Kane or Battleship Potemkin in the list of Movie Greats but it generally runs along ok on most levels - lots of action, some nice atmospheric locations, light humour, a bit of pathos at the end and so on. Javier Bardem makes for a good 'Baddie' albeit with more than a passing nod to Hannibal Lecter. Film felt a bit bloated though and whilst Craig plays the Bond character very well it might have worked better still if the whole production was stripped down and a bit leaner. Lots of the film was shot in a gloomy light - a bit more of this and a darker script it could have become very much more 'edgy'. Anyways, I'm just a humble punter and and FWIW enjoyed it, as a Bond film, throughout.... Quote Link to comment
duke007
Being a Brit myself I think the Bond films are closer to home for me personally as Im proud of my Country's heritage and Queen etc. I went to see Skyfall at the IMAX in Siam Paragon on Saturday night and loved it, but being a big James Bond fan Im bound to say that aren't I...lol Without giving too much away (to those that are going to see it) there are a couple of moments for example in the film that without disrespect to other nationalities they wouldnt quite understand the jist of them, one was the Union Jacks flying in the background and the other had me saying "the fucking twat" to myself, without saying anything Bond was thinking exactly the same thing by the expression on his face and was clearly very vexed indeed. On a lighter note Owe (from Sensations) clocked my Bond EDT in my loom Friday night and said to me "You like James Bond too mutt" I said thats because "I am James Bond my dear" Her response "WOW. I fuck James Bond" Im having a lot fun in the LOS at the mo one must say Quote Link to comment

deepthroat
Did you know Sean Connery's younger brother played a Bond "ripoff" in the 60's? Mystery Science Theater 3000 parodied it on one of their episodes: http://mst3k.wikia.c...tion_Double_007 Quote Link to comment
DownLoLarry
Anyone know which of these are IMAX, if any? http://www.movieseer.com/th/movies/21817--Skyfall_(2012) Quote Link to comment
pacman
I saw Skyfall recently. It didn't fail to deliver everything we have come to expect from a Bond film. That's why they give it such a large budget. Money doesn't guarantee success but with such a proven formula, the writers would have to go way off script to stuff it up. They almost did with a fairly lame plot line, some disgruntled ex-operative with a grudge against his employer trying to blow the place up. OK, that sounds better than it is, it just struck me as implausible that someone with a complaint would go to such lengths but then I have to remind myself it is a Bond film & nothing can be done by halves. And there is nothing half cocked about the action here, it is as good as any of the recent Bond films. The villain comes across as totally camp & his first lines are very suggestive to Bond who gives a curious reply to his question. Was it a nod to the non-straight audience? I doubt it but I found the conversation odd. And then they immediately went back to being good guys & bad guys. There was very little of the classic Bond repartee. The double entendres with the open ambiguity & the wink to the camera. All the memorable lines in other words. I found that curious given that three highly paid writers were employed to give the script that "Bond sparkle". I got the impression that some of the lines were lost in editing because there were clearly some moments tailor made for such commentary. But once the scene was edited, the line may no longer have made sense. Or maybe I just missed something, still, they are great moments lost. My only other observation is I found the Bond women lame. Rather ordinary even though they are out of my league. It isn't that they weren't attractive, it is a given that they would be. They are good but they are not hot. Not IMO. But what would I know? Others can make the case for them, I wouldn't knock them back but on reflection, I thought "given the competition to be a Bond girl, is that the best they can do?" The girls in Casino Royale were better. IMO. Of course I recommend the film to everybody. Such highly polished pieces of first rate fantasy come along all too rarely & I always anticipate seeing another Bond film. I mentioned the flaws but they are nothing compared to the experience of watching our James do what he does best. And I think Daniel Craig fills his shoes very well. Quote Link to comment

You do realize Big D that Skyfall was directed by a Brit, but would it surprise you to learn that it was written by a Yank...Yep, the screenwriter was born and raised in beautiful downtown SoCal...Give us a bit of credit on occasion please... SiamSam
I guess Sean didn't purchase Apple stock in 1998. Hmmmm, a BOND first mistake. If he had there would now be a lot of zeros after the his 7 rather than before. Quote Link to comment
