Due to little luck, some kindness from the heavens and a lot of smashing keyboards at my job it seems like I'm gonna be a frequent visitor to BKK in the coming year. The downside is that each of these visits are going to be 4-5 day runs with a group of colleagues and work hours that extend from breakfast to dinners.

But visits to the Otherside simply don't stop. I plan to make the most of these trips by squeezing in at least a couple romps across the farang bars, some Thaifriendly dates and the occasional GG so the fun keeps going. That also means that having and writing a separate TR for each visit would make little sense and simply clutter the forum with scattered information. 

So the plan for this topic is to keep a running diary of my short BKK visits for.. however long they happen. The plan of attack is to squeeze in maximum fun within a 2-3 hour period in the bars and not get so drunk in a way that I can't get back at the office/or be able to catch a flight the next day. This means quickly buying a number of girls a number of drinks, making out with them and making the play on whoever is the best on that particular night.

The Short Shots diary also intends to avoid making plans ahead of time so as to not get stuck up on a lady or have to take them out to dinner dates etc. I shall also use the on-premise rooms for the STs for reasons that you will read ahead.

Mid August 2024

Arrived in BKK on a beltering hot Sunday. Checked in to the Banyan Tree, Sathorn, and a warm shower helped alleviated the day's travel. Taipei's airport is about an hour away from where I live, so I usually end up waking around 4:30 am for a 9 a.m. flight. And I'm a late sleeper so it's often short naps due to alarm anxiety that spoils my psyche and wastes the entire day. Thankfully, I was able to and took an afternoon plane for this time -- 2 p.m. departure and on ground in BKK around 5 p.m. Solid stuff!

Caught up with the GG I mentioned in my previous TR who I'd been talking to the past month and who seemed to look forward to my company. We had snacks and drinks at the Banyan's rooftop bar and was a good time.. or so I thought.

Shortly after the drinks we were making plans for the rest of the night but the GG -- who had been acting off for a while -- started a story about how her online business wasn't running all that well and how she was stressing about the upcoming months. The conversation moved to her asking if I wanted to "support" her business (and wellbeing) with some baht and that she would be indebted as she really saw us as close friends and more. At first I politely tried to explain that ups-and-downs are a normal part of business, and that just pumping in money isn't the solution given she'd been at it for years and was apparently well-to-do, too. But it didn't really seem to work.

There's few things in life that put me off instantly, and Thai sob stories is firmly on the top of that list. I was surprised, shocked and bewildered on the sudden change in tone and casual demand for money. During our conversations in the past month she once did not allude to a business downfall or ask for money, so it came across as a total weird moment. I told her I'd think about it and that I wanted to rest after a long day, so we ended the night there on a slightly abrupt note.

Come Monday morning, and I woke up with a giant, throbbing headache and a pain around my eyebrows and temples. I was surprised as I hadn't really drank all that much the previous night and was snacking on meat and fat all along. Did the usual of coffee, orange juice and a good egg bacon sandwich, popped a paracetamol and went off to official tasks. But the strange head space didn't really clear up, and by afternoon I was back to the throbbing sensations again. Thankfully I was able to get a doctor from the corporate we were meeting, who did some basic tests and was quick to find the culprit -- inflamed sinuses!
 

Got some medicines and was advised rest for a couple days. Strictly no alcohol or exertion which meant I ended up losing out on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in terms of hitting the bar areas as the head, nose and neck gradually cleared up and returned to normal. In the midst of this the GG reached out to apologize about Sunday night and how it was her drunk self that was supposedly blurting out nonsense. I didn't really chat all that much, was too sick to really care anymore. More fish in the ocean, as the saying goes.

Thank God Its Romp o' Clock Friday

After a hectic week and a busy Friday afternoon it was time for a well-deserved evening break and night time party. Started the night early with some buddies at the Tawandang Brewery in the Rama 3 area. Great place with a giant live stage, more than 300 seats easily with German, Thai and hot pot and about 5 freshly brewed beers on tap. Thai craft beer usually doesn't do it for me, but Tawandang's stuff is smooth and showcases the malt's character pretty well and I learnt (or at least from what I understood) last night that the head brewer is a Dutch guy - and he seems to know his stuff well.

Sorry just seeing your reply here now @pulcigorgon. LB prices (hopefully I haven't been ripped off) are 1.5-2K THB for a short time and 3-4K THB for long time (depending on how in-demand the LB is and what time of the time it is). I usually tip em a little bit extra and always offer to buy dinner/snacks when I'm at the bar which bumps the cost for me up by a grand but is always loved by the ladies!

The Worst Night in Seoul, S.Korea 

As this thread is all about my short trips and short shots experiences I might from time to time put up reports from my travels to countries other than Thailand and local LB experiences there.

I was in Seoul for the last of August and some of early September on a work-related trip. The hardcore Korean prosti scene - much like Japan - is closed off to foreigners and you're simply not entertained or turned away from the gates in bars or lounges known for housing freelancers. This was my 7th visit to the city and while I love Korean culture and appreciate the local beauty, it's always a turn-off to experience the closeted mentality of people there, esp when pay-to-play is involved.

Anyhoo -- since years I had my eyes on an elusive and downtrodden district in the midst of Seoul called Itaewon, a party area filled with teenagers and shady characters who emerge from the shadows in the wee hours to sell you stuff. I'm a bit old for the area but within it is Seoul's biggest LBGT haven colloquially known as "Homo Hill," where there's gay bars, lesbian bars and.. you guessed it, ladyboy and post-op bars (although they use the term transgender there).

I had only crossed the area on previous trips as an LB virgin and wondered what really goes behind the scenes. But cut to this trip I was ready and raring to spread the seed out there. It mostly still remains a mystery as there's little information about these bars in English language sites and Google search doesn't throw up many results for what happens in the area. So probably gonna use this report to tell you what EXACTLY to expect.

The TL;DR is -- avoid at all costs.

I went on a Friday after a long week at work mostly spent drinking soju at night and red bulls in the day. Most of the LB bars at Homo Hill are housed on a single stretch in a road that juts from the east gate of the Itaewon underground station -- https://maps.app.goo.gl/h2b9u9pdyXa4D443A

As you walk up the road (it's a steep hill, so don't do a heavy leg workout in the day) there's bars on the left and right with 2-3 LBs plus a cashier. No food or fancy bar menus, just beers and the regular spirit orders. Some of these are proper gay bars, but the LB bars clearly mention out "Transgender" in front so you know where exactly to enter.

The bars open doors at 9 p.m, but the action really begins after 11 pm or midnight IF it's the late week/weekend.

However, the bars are small and reek of piss and smoke. I entered about 4 and walked out of 2 just based on the epic mess of smells I got at the entrance. All these bars had 2-3 private tables and probably seated 15-20 punters at most -- meaning the largest LB bar in Seoul is smaller or among the smallest LB bars of Thailand.

I got into a bar at the end of the street that looked promising after a LB pulled me in. I was probably 3 beers in already so I didn't glance much at her face, but inside the bar I realized she was probably 50+, wrinkled, saggy and loaded on drugs (fingers shaking, neck twitching every few seconds or so). I was joined by another LB who looked younger from afar, but when she sat next to me it turned out to be an older one too! The room was dark and dinghy, no photos allowed, and the glasses looked super unclean.

I ordered a shot for each of them, just to probably try it out and for the sake of this TR. The shot was a whopping $40 each and my beer was $10. So I dropped nearly $100 on two drugged out old LBs in less than 5 mins!!! And it all happened so quick that I had no choice but to pay up and run the fuck out of that bar (and that hill!).

With that ended my Seoul LB TR, lasting all of 90 mins...
 
This marked one of my worst LB exps and made me appreciate Thailand all the much more. Love or hate the scene or the prices, BKK and Pattaya remain the best places on the planet to have genuine, safe fun with LBs at a very great price where the majority of them aren't trying to - or intend to - rip you off. We sure have some off nights here and there but the good fun more than makes up for it.

The FACT is that nowhere else in the world but Thailand is M to F transgenderism so widely occurrent which combined with social non-stigmatization of prostitution and relatively low incomes makes it easy and cheap for us to meet and fuck youthful sissies.  Korea and Japan have neither such tolerance for transgenderism, nor the poverty causing young lads to get into dresses to sell their asses.

Thanks for the update RR, sounds like a memorable encounter all the same….or maybe one to forget :)  In my hunting days I was always looking out for out of the way places also that seldom if ever were visited or reported on forums by farangs.  One such place was only a stones throw away from the backpacker centre of Khao San Road, yet a world away also.  One street at the bottom of the map,  Bunsiri Road was lined with quite good looking LBs, along with some of the adjacent sois.  On Thanon Tanao there were, maybe still are, some gay nightclubs where regular Thai gays went, always some nice femboys in among the mix, mostly quite friendly and approachable back then.
 

The LBs on Bunsiri told me at the time they would go with westerners if they ever ventured down that area, but their customer base was mainly Thai Chinese who drove up from Chinatown for a bit of fun. Haven’t been in the area for a long, long time now, I sometimes wonder has it changed since then.

I think this is key. The LBs here might be loaded/in other jobs so no actual need to sleep for $50 a night. And if they do they might be in the bars closed off to farangs.

Interesting. This is the first time I've heard of the road even otherwise. Do we punters know what the scene there is these days? For my next trip to BKK I'm interested in venturing a bit away from the regular areas to explore what more the city has to offer -- including digs you can find sex at which is not necessarily known or are that famous.

For eg: There's a bar near Thong Lo called Thaipioka which is always packed with GGs and high profile prostis (think models, influencers etc) catering to rich Chinese businessmen. They don't even look at rabbit's way cause I don't drop $500 on a single bottle of champagne just to spend a few hours with a prosti.
