Lefty old bean dont get your knickers in a twist my man!! Old Chum and/or friend are just figures of speech!! Dont go off the deep end. No, we have never met so please just think of these as figures of speech. Nothing more.....Methinks you seem a bit paraniod. Take a chill pill!!! I thought you "Lefties" (politically thinking that is) are supposed to be for peace and love??

About your stats, I will give you a couple of quotes: "There are lies, damned lies and statistics." How about this one, "Some people use statistic like a drunk uses a lamp post-for support instead of illumination." Now I am certain ol Arch bungled these quotes somewhere along the way but you get my drift.

Now I do apologise PROFUSELY for hijacking this thread but it is interesting nonetheless. Now, I am not here to make excuses and/or to blindly support Republicans. I thought Bush 43's 2nd term was a disaster. Would it have been so muhc better under J F Kerry?? We will never know but I highly doubt it. I dont know if there is a Repub candidate that i can actually vote for this go round. I will not be voting for that caramel dipped guy in the White House. I will tell you this if they keep on trotting out the blame Bush mantra, the Dems are fucked. The Independent voters are fickle and they want RESULTS!!! Obama had ALL the answers coming into office. The results tell a profoundly different story.

The stats you posted were a bit interesting but heres a FACT. The President doesnt have the purse strings. During the Reagan Administrations BOTH houses were DOMINATED by the Tip ONeill led Dems. The tide turned in 1994 after a disastrous first 2 years of Clinton. The Repubs took over both houses and the purse strings. Food for thought......

To just rail on and say D = good and R = bad. That is puerile at best and lacks any depth whatsoever.

If youse need me I will be looking for ladyboys and fruits at Kelsey's Bar in Astoria.....

Almost forgot, you never mentioned if the Obama Administration is SOOOOO pro labor, why, oh why wont HIS NMB release the American Airlines cabin crew into a 30 day cooling off period which will allow them to seek "self help" aka a strike????????

I PERSONALLY know people over there and they produced an internal memo within the NMB that said the Administration would not release them ESPECIALLY in the summertime, around holidays and anywhere near an election.

WHOOP DEE DO WHOOP DEE DO WHOOP DEE DO!!

I would STILL like ti fight Bill Maher!!!!

"If by liberal, they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people - their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, their civil liberties...if that is what they mean by liberal, then I am proud to be a liberal". ~ John F Kennedy

Had JFK been alive today he would be termed a rabid, right winger. He was a tax cutter and a staunch anti communist.

Winston Churchill, "If you are 20 and not a liberal you dont have a heart. If you are 40 and not conservative, you dont hvae a brain."

Archie Bunker, "A liberal is just a conservative who hasnt yet been mugged."

WHOOP DEE DO!!

PS Now why hasnt the Amercian Airlines crew, who have had an expired contract FOR YEARS, not been released by Obama's NMB????

A little trivia:

"Did you know:

"race car" spelled backwards still spells “race car”?

“eat” is the only word that, if you take the first letter and move it to the last, spells its own past tense, “ate”?

..

And: rearrange the letters in “Tea Party Republicans” & add a few more letters, it spells: “Shut the fuck up, you moronic, progress-blocking, racist, violent hypocrites & deal with the fact that you nearly wrecked the USA under Bush - and our POTUS is black, get over it.”

Isn’t that interesting?

After having given considerable thought to the situation, I have firmly decided that I would rather suck all the snot out of a dog's nose until its head caves in, than have Rick Perry as my president. (It is perfectly reasonable to substitute Michele Bachmann for Rick Perry in this sentence)

"Governing is hard so it's time for us to just hand it over to God and say, "God, You’re going to have to fix this." ... I think it's time for us to use our wisdom and our influence and really put it in God's hands. That's what I'm going to do, and I hope you'll join me."

That is a verified quote by Texas Gov Rick Perry, who is currently the front runner for the Republican nomination for president next year. He admits he does not have the wisdom to solve anything, so his solution is we should all just pray to God and God will fix everything. Is that the kind of right wing religious nut that any logical free thinking American with more than an ounce of common sense is going to want running the country? This dude makes Dubya look as honest as Abe Lincoln and as intelligent as Jefferson. We've had one right wing religious Texas governor in the White House, that is enough for this century.

Does anyone think he is going to give a shit about the First Amendment and Separation of Church and State? Hell no!

C'mon Lefty..... quit beating around the bush & tell us what you really think! :)

For entertainment value this next year in the US elections will be unsurpassed, probably nothing like it since Hoover vs FDR. Unfortunately the stakes are just as high & frankly Obama has been very disappointing, very "Jimmy Carterish".... not very FDR.

Thankfully there aren't any Reagans on the right wing horizon, just a bunch of leprechauns selling us how tall they are.

Since there is a very real chance that"O" may go..... I can't believe I'm rooting for the 2 Mormons in the GOP to rise to the top since the rest don't believe in science or economics & think teachers are one of society's bad demographics.

It's amazing what people will believe!

(BTW I don't mean any aspersion to any leprechauns who are BMs.)

Me too, the Mormons would not be anywhere near as bad as Perry, Bachmann or Palin.

Still, even though Obama pisses me off with some things I'll vote for him over any Repug scum.

Top 10 Shocking Attacks from the GOP's War on Women

1) Republicans not only want to reduce women's access to abortion care, they're actually trying to redefine rape. After a major backlash, they promised to stop. But they haven't yet. Shocker.

2) A state legislator in Georgia wants to change the legal term for victims of rape, stalking, and domestic violence to "accuser." But victims of other less gendered crimes, like burglary, would remain "victims."

3) In South Dakota, Republicans proposed a bill that could make it legal to murder a doctor who provides abortion care. (Yep, for real.)

4) Republicans want to cut nearly a billion dollars of food and other aid to low-income pregnant women, mothers, babies, and kids.

5) In Congress, Republicans have a bill that would let hospitals allow a woman to die rather than perform an abortion necessary to save her life.

6) Maryland Republicans ended all county money for a low-income kids' preschool program. Why? No need, they said. Women should really be home with the kids, not out working.

7) And at the federal level, Republicans want to cut that same program, Head Start, by $1 billion. That means over 200,000 kids could lose their spots in preschool.

8 ) Two-thirds of the elderly poor are women, and Republicans are taking aim at them too. A spending bill would cut funding for employment services, meals, and housing for senior citizens.

9) Congress just voted for a Republican amendment to cut all federal funding from Planned Parenthood health centers, one of the most trusted providers of basic health care and family planning in our country.

10) And if that wasn't enough, Republicans are pushing to eliminate all funds for the only federal family planning program. (For humans. But Republican Dan Burton has a bill to provide contraception for wild horses. You can't make this stuff up).

to be honest, I'd like one of the Repubs to get in.....Romney or Perry maybe, not one of the Barbie dolls. and I'd like to see them gain control of the senate and the house also; basically I wanna see one of them try to fight this uphill battle and see if they can do anything to turn the USA around. if they don't and just keep fucking things up, left-wingers and moderates like myself can say "told ya' so" - and if they revive the country and make us a world-class power again [we are a laughingstock now], well that is only a GOOD thing.

I don't give a fuck who the hell gets in there these days, as long as they can do something to right the sinking ship. Barry hasn't impressed me at all, certainly a case of buyer's remorse there, and I don't think a 2nd term would be any different; he gets no help from a repub-controlled house and he is too much of a pussy to go toe-to-toe with them. Ya' think Reagan would have just caved in to the other side as much as this guy has? doubtful...

I've been following politics for 35 years now and have never seen such a partisan split, it's nauseating. These people have to start acting like adults and do what's best for their constituents, not their fucking party and certainly not for their lobbyist pals.
