Trenton42
Anyone know a Gene Pitney song? IMO his best was Town Without Pity. Ronnie Montrose did a good cover. Quote Link to comment
SiamSam
The Left Bank. Yes sir. Quote Link to comment
SiamSam
IMO his best was Town Without Pity. Ronnie Montrose did a good cover. "It Hurts to Be in Love" and "Only Love Can Break a Heart" are two of his greatest. He also wrote songs for other famous artists. "He's a Rebel" by the Crystals was one of them. Quote Link to comment
JaiDee
Ronnie Montrose did a good cover. Wow, THERE'S a blast from the past! Who was the singer in the first Montrose solo band? Later went on to a successful -if rather wimpy - solo career himself, then sang for a supergroup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndMs9wu_xYE Quote Link to comment
Kahuna
I truly ain't a music guy...but I did have a thing year's past for VH.... I even saw them on tour a couple times.............. So my guess is Sammy ICan'tDrive55 CaboWabo Hagar............ BTW: I clicked on this thread cause I thought it read "brand" names........... Quote Link to comment
JaiDee
Oddly enough Kahuna, I also thought it said Brand Names the first time I saw it! And threw out a question about Apple. Anyway, YES! Hagar was the lead singer for Montrose, went on to a mediocre solo career and then became lead singer for Van Halen after Roth was tossed out. Quote Link to comment

pacman
The ears give em away. Swedes. If you are unlucky enough to be born with Foetal Alcohol Syndrome you have ears like that (almost). Plus a long thin face & a pointy chin. And nothing can be done to change it. It's really rather sad. Quote Link to comment
pacman
"It Hurts to Be in Love" That song title can have its entire meaning changed by the inclusion of a single comma - "It hurts to be in, love" Sounds so much better..... Quote Link to comment
seven
I was curious about Andrew's Blues & did a bit of research: it's The Stones & ALO + Gene Pitney, Phil Spector, & Allan Clarke/Graham Nash from the Hollies. Nash's voice is very obvious in the background harmonies, Pitney is playing piano & I couldn't find out if he or Spector was the lead singer, opinions seem to vary, I'd guess Spector singing lead but ... I honestly don't know who's doing the singing. This recording was refused by Decca, their first UK label. I don't think I've ever heard that brilliant nutcase Spector sing, but what a producer he was/is. Back to mono. Wall of sound! Quote Link to comment

pacman
Elves only exist in fairy stories. People born with FAS exist everywhere. I read about the appearance of those with the syndrome many years ago. I thought it odd I had never seen someone with that look. One day I saw a young guy who ticked all the boxes. He looked like the love child of Doctor Spock & the Wicked Witch of the West. Since then I have seen others, I always think of how important it is to be born to the right parents. JaiDee
My turn; there are only three guys on the cover of the first Clash record; 2 guitar players and the bass player. Who was the drummer for that record, and why isn't he in the pic? Quote Link to comment
seven
I´ll let someone else guess this one, as i know my Clash very well Quote Link to comment
JaiDee
I'd say if you know it throw it out there Seven, as the rest of the crew may not and it will just be left hanging. Bonus points; who replaced him on albums 2-4? Quote Link to comment
JaiDee
BTW that first record is an obvious classic, every song is great! Quote Link to comment
