Trenton42
Facebook was down for me only a short time. Maybe a test. Maybe an accident. Maybe a threat. Lots of rumors why, but no definitive word yet.

Trenton42
Currently driving through Nonthaburi heading to Que Pasa. Traffic way less than usual. Seems strange to me.
Tomcat
Some former BMs here are leaving LOS with haste for Australia and PI i heard today.. fear of it turning "really nasty"
Trenton42
Haven't seen much to support bugging out yet. The number of Red Shirts at Victory Monument is small; <200. Reds released so far seem contrite. There have been ZERO attacks from the Reds since martial law. The military is continuing to make progress dismantling UDD. Popular regional Red leaders (such as Rambo Isaan) are retiring. Progress also being made against PTP, and various schemes. The farmers are being paid.

Trenton42
Ratchaprasong intersection to be closed on Sunday (1 June).  Amarin Plaza and Kesorn Plaza malls will be closed.  Prolly a good idea to avoid the area. Lots of places to hang out on Soi 4!
seven
BANGKOK (AP) — In junta-ruled Thailand, the simple act of reading in public has become an act of resistance.  http://news.yahoo.com/junta-ruled-thailand-reading-now-resistance-152729290.html  Seriously....wtf!

Trenton42
Thai newspapers are reporting that the curfew in Bangkok may be lifted tonight. Spent last weekend in Pattaya where the lifting of the curfew had a great effect on my favorite bars; the girls were happy, and some bars stayed open much later than usual. Wonder if that had anything to do with the recent staff shuffling at the police department. Would love to see Bangkok bars open late again!
lance2546
Still have army check points here in Chiang Mai, but they rarely stop any one. I was out when the curfew was 10 pm and the bars were shutting up at 9:45 ish, taking it seriously. I rode around on my motorbike until 11 pm, no one bothered me, but the streets were eerily quiet. I haven't been to a bar since the curfew was raised to 12 midnight but the streets are still quiet at 10 pm. The street walkers are also out earlier; they normally don't come out until about 11:30 pm and later :)
Trenton42
Prayuth just announced the Bangkok curfew may be lifted as soon as tonight. Wonder why they're being coy about it.

The soldiers don't seem to be stopping anyone, but the police OTOH are stopping every motocy they can. It's like the end of the month around here! Trenton42
Interesting. Prayuth has a nationally telecast speech scheduled for 9PM. Maybe he's trying to increase his ratings.
Trenton42
Prayuth said he will lift the curfew as soon as possible, but not today. What a tease!

Trenton42
Have great respect for what Prayuth is doing but the handling of the curfew seems a bit strange. Should be fun in the bars tonight!
