Lefty
To some of you limber dick cocksuckers, this sweet little lady maybe obscure. To me she isn't though. I love me some Kina. She is half Jap on her momma's side. Dad is Anglo. Seems those Asian/White mixes by and large turn out to be very good looking. Even if one or both parents are of merely average looks. williethepimp
Not obscure to Americans ,but maybe the brits on here never heard of weird Al.....I like humour in music, and clever lyrics,Al has it in spades... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nej4xJe4Tdg&feature=player_detailpage[/media] Quote Link to comment

Luung
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziOFHr4boj4&feature=player_embedded This is where my name comes from (TAIN), an Irish tale, from a band that every one forgotten Well I had taken myself off this thread & as much as I liked Lefty's 'Kina Grannis' & sometimes used to like Willy's 'Weird Al Yankovic'; it was going to take something really special to get me back in... And this was it!.. I'd heard this bunch years ago & loved them! I could have really gotton into this band, But... But... But... I think maybe I was just too young & just didn't have the 'where with all' to find out more about them & then all of a sudden they were completely forgotton, in England, at any rate! Thanks for posting, that was a reverlation Paul 'Tain'!+1 Willy, I'm +1'ing you for reminding us all about the Pink Faries & Heef, I've got to +1 Arther Lee & Love '7&7 is'... But I'm still not apologizing to anybody for sulking. I'm an Englishman who just loves Irish music & a hetrosexual who loves transexuals... Does that make me weird? Here's 2 Irish favorites, the incredibly obscure Bothy Band with 'Old Hag You Have Killed Me'... And the not quite obscure Rory Galleger with 'Hands Off. Quote Link to comment
Lefty
Would Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich be considered obscure? Back from 1965 to '69 they spent more weeks on the UK Singles Chart than The Beatles did. Their memory has slid into relative obscurity today, especially with the younger generation. My man QT gave them a partial revival by using them on a recent soundtrack. Karl always played this song for me when I went into Ezy before or Famous recently. Quote Link to comment
Luung
More obscure early 80's rubbish from me Bauhause 'Bella laggosi's dead' Quote Link to comment
Lefty
Lung all you need now is a forward slash ahead of the 'm' in the second bracket. Also, the period between the u and the b in tube needs to be removed. If you click on share in youtube below the video and copy that link it is now different. The period in the middle of the url seems to prevent the video from being embedded. Better to copy the url from the address line at the top of the page. It is different. To demonstrate I will add the same video twice. First I will copy the url from the address line at the top, then I will click on the share button below the video and copy the url displayed there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEDbh18waE8&feature=related http://youtu.be/yEDbh18waE8 As you can see this produced different results. Hefe
Alright, here's an obscure someone I just found out about the last year or 2 although she is a contemporary. She also may have another connection to our interests..... possibly. I do remember seeing the odd "Ramatam" album here & there back in the smoke filled rooms of yesteryear but afaik never heard them, or don't remember them, nor did I realize that Mitch Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix's drummer, was 1/3 of the band. (This would have been significant to me since I played drums then & MM was the best as far as I was concerned.) After Hendrix died, MM then hooked up in another power trio, Ramatam, with the lead being one April Lawton, guitarist extraordinaire. Here's the Wiki: April Lawton was a guitarist, singer, and composer who rose to some prominence in the early to mid 1970s as a member of the band Ramatam, which also included former Iron Butterfly/Blues Image guitarist Mike Pinera and the former Jimi Hendrix drummer Mitch Mitchell. She was hailed as the female Jimi Hendrix by many, and her style was a mix of Jeff Beck, Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Alan Holdsworth. Indeed she was such a virtuoso that she was rumored to be transsexual — rumors dismissed by her husband as "total garbage" started by less talented male guitarists. ....Lawton then disappeared from the music scene to concentrate on painting and graphic design. Her personal life remained very private until her death from heart failure at her home on November 23, 2006. She was 58. Was she tg? I've run across a good case for both sides. Adding to the mystery rarely has such a gifted artist on the verge of "making it" so completely dropped out of sight. Some fusion-style hard rock she did in the 90s, check out the last 2 tracks (audio only). http://www.aprillawton.com/aprilmusic1.html Quote Link to comment
Luung
Wow, you just completely done me there with that one Heef!.. Brilliant choice. Here's 2 bands that have just come to mind, Firstly from the late 60's, early 70's, Heads, Hands & Feet. How could I have forgotton these, psychedelic country at its best. This was a London band, centering on the later to be famous Albert Lee (from my hometown) & Chas Hodges (Chas n' Dave fame, to all you Brits)... Yeah, believe it or not that 'mont' started right, how he became what he ended up as fucking baffles me?! http://youtu.be/DXBqF6KZSQghttp:// http://youtu.be/1aIft448lBAhttp:// http://youtu.be/vyMYu_cAoWAhttp:// The next one up is 'Blancmange' from the very early eighties... Any Brits remeber them??... Ring a bell Pimpy?... Anyway, here they are with 'Living on a ceiling'... Christ, this one's dated. http://youtu.be/u55Oy78pE7khttp:// Quote Link to comment
Luung
Shit, I got one more... For you 70's funksters 'Miami' & Kill that Roach' 1976. Anyone remeber this one? http://youtu.be/u55Oy78pE7khttp:// Quote Link to comment
Luung
I've just got my funny little Youtube button back, so I'm going to become a nuisance again!.. Here's a band that seems to be well & truely forgoten nowdays 'Black Oak Arkansas' doing one of my old favorites, 'Hot & Nasty', I'd forgot about this one myself. Loads of different bands have sampled this sound & even David Lee Roth owes his stage act to the unstopable Jim Dandy... In fact as much as I like dave Lee Roth he even don't deserve to wear the same brand of underpants as Jim Dandy... That's asuming these types wear undies of course. Looking back at him nowdays, I don't think he'd say, "no" to a transexual!? Quote Link to comment

They were well known in the uk lefty, also the Dave Clark Five were another similar pop band....they were too "poppy" for my liking, but the teenage girls loved them.....the best thing about them was their name.....remember Jerry and the Pacemakers and Freddie and the Dreamers also? they just jumped on the Beatles bandwagon and rode along for a while never to be heard of since.......The Hollies and The Kinks had longevity....mainly because they had genuine talent....remember them? Hefe
Yes of course I remember them, I was hooked on the "Brit" sounds as a kid & indiscriminately sought them all out, but a few rose to the top, like the Kinks & Hollies as you said. Also as mentioned (DD,D,B,M & T) some were big in their home country & didn't travel well abroad: Pretty Things, Lulu.... ...& there's that strange subset of Yanks that made it big in Ol'Blighty but are unknown in the U.S: The Walker Bros, PJ Proby.... Jackson C Frank had a "hit" (for a folkie) there: "Blues run the game" was hugely influential on people like Paul Simon & Bert Jansch & was covered by many Brit artists & then he came home died penniless & homeless on the streets of NYC. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZAU3FipLLU&feature=related 1 Quote Link to comment

Im getting a 404 cannot find when I try and view them......now that you are au fait with the upload method .....can u post this again lung?-cheers No probs Willy, here's Albert Lee & Chas Hodges (Chas n' Dave) again with their own special brand of psycedelic Country in Heads, Hands & Feet... Do you know that both Eric Clapton & Lonny Donnigan played with them?... And here's three more from the incredibly pretentious early eighties, Blancmange, Bauhaus & the Associates http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKkEQ_GzoZs Quote Link to comment

I wonder how many Brit bands made it in the States that we don't know about?... Loved the Pretty Things vid, quality mate! Quote Link to comment
Luung
What language are they singing in? God knows Lefty, I think there might be a bit of Dolphin thrown in there somewhere?? Today I'd consider it a novelty/joke voice & to the tender, growing ears of a young Lung it was really cool stuff!.. However, it's dated badly, that's for sure, but I still love it & I figure it's well worth it for the visual spectacle alone... And as I said before, Dave Lee Roth owes his whole act to this bloke! I always figured the whole world knew about (DD,D,B,M & T)? Thanks a million for the French schoolgirl tutorial... Extremely informative :p Quote Link to comment
Luung
Finally here's my vid replies for Paultain too, the Bothy Band with 'Old Hag You Have Killed Me'... And the not quite obscure, but brilliant Rory Gallagher with 'Hands Off. Quote Link to comment
williethepimp
head hands and feet-very good-I didnt know chas hodges was in them .......those big American rock bands always left me cold....too much posturing and prancing and ALL THE FUKKIN SAME....grand funk railroad ...kiss...black oak etc etcetc etc...not a bit of originality in any of them, just a different gimmick to enchant the sheeple....I saw Rory Gallagher several times..not obscure, but he never got the recognition he deserved IMO..... When my GF saw that video she asked me innocently if those were all men. 555 Quote Link to comment
