Is this really the way to have fun in Thailand ? Get drunk, pick a fight, and then play the victim ? It seems to be fairly common with Brit tourists.

Its not only Brit Tourists that cause a little mischief in Thailand. But you do like your Brit Bashing when the opportunity arises.

This isn’t about Brit-bashing—just facts. The only people who ever tried to cause me trouble without any reason in Thailand were Brits. Nobody’s perfect in Thailand, but I’ve never felt the same concern with other nationalities. That’s just the reality.

Except you of course.

I've been visiting Thailand for 30 years, some members even longer.

I've seen more fighting amongst the locals than the Brits causing trouble.

Specify which nation, that would make your post more factual.

Some Brits are guilty of drinking excessively at the bars, but they ultimately keep the bars going.

I think some nationalities are jealous of the Brits because they can drink quite happily with other nationalities such as the Aussies and Kiwis.

With the attitude you display on here, I'm not surprised TBH.

There's always 2 sides to a story however woeful.

Thai Bouncers have a reputation for being brutal & take great delight in stomping fellas who are unconscious & on the ground.

If you look at the video once the punch was thrown the guard distanced himself from the knocked out guy & made sure his back was to the cameras.

These people are misemployed; bouncers are supposed to be there to stop any escalation of trouble but time & time again we see unneccessary violence against tourists especially on older or weaker fellas, not just the Brits. They get recruited from the Muay Thai arena & are trained fighters, the tourists are not & by unwittingly standing up to aggressive behaviour they end up getting battered.

Club owners should be aware of the reputational damage their 'staff' bring to their business.

If you want a barometer of who is liked or Not then ask the Thai people what you or I may like is irrelevent it's their country and I never heard anyone against the UK in fact it seems snuggly on many streets in patts as they do keep the beer flowing and then indians of course are not liked for haggling , hands on behaviour pack mentality or color of skin tone But Israelis are hated at this point and I have been asked five times in a week am I one ( not ) because of running illegal business - bad behaviour and putting a synagogue where it has no place to be , what went in in Pai was all over the local tv and Thai people think like a small village , the videos I have seen this week are crazy , my channel is not political so il leave it but Israelis disrespecting medical staff , blowing smoke in doctors faces in hospital beds , taking stuff and the rest is why "No Israelis allowed " posters are on cafes and bars , I never saw that with any other nationality - peace :party0011:

@petesie

Yes that maybe the case.

Muay Thai is a very effective Martial Art, however I would place money on somebody who is skilled at Krav Maga against somebody equally skilled at Muay Thai.

In the UK, before the Private Security Industry Act 2001. Bouncers were either people who can handle themselves in a confrontation, members of the underworld or a mixture of both.

I've never had a problem with a Thai bouncer nor would I wish to,  because if you can't match him/them equally, the best policy to avoid any entanglement.

I'm actually surprised there is not more trouble, at the end of the day, Pattaya is one big Brothel and 000's punters half cut wanting a shag.

The mix of different nationalities and their respective cultural norms exacerbates the situation.

I think some British Tourists would benefit reading some Sun Tzu and throw in some Machiavelli for good measure and reflect upon it before the trip out.

My take on why there isn't more trouble is that there are no farang incels (involuntary celibate) in the monger towns.  Since anyone can with 1000 baht can easily blow their load it tempers the tension that could be fueled by excessive drinking.

@Pdoggg

You can also factor the availability of Steriods as well. Easily accessible, not unusual for young Brit lads to roid up and not bother with the gym. Thus having a very short temper.

Plus I wouldn't be surprised if some bouncers were involved with the bar girls after hours, a FWB arrangement so to speak.

I am amazed how peaceful the place is considering the amount of booze consumed. I cant recall any violence. Sorry I just did. It was between my gf and some drugged up lb who I think mistook her for someone else and they ended up in Soi Pothole outside Delirious with flying shoes and hair pulling. Thank goodness my gf gave the other one a hiding and she took off minus a couple of teeth! While they were fighting, Herbert was advising me to stay out of it as if the cops came I would be blamed for it.

The only other unsavoury incident in my time was in I think Robin Hood Bar on Beach rd. Had taken a gf there for a peaceful drink and who should turn up but 3 yobos with I think Liverpudlian accents. There was only one other party in the bar besides the yobos and us two.

As can be the norm, one of them turned into the ring leader and was making stupid remarks in a loud voice. I stood it for about 10 minutes and we departed to another bar.

No violence but just antisocial behaviour. I guess they get a thrill out of it?

I’ve never had any issues with Israelis, but I do remember one particular incident in Koh Phi Phi. At first glance, he just looked like an average Farang tourist browsing in a shop. Then, when he went to pay, he pulled a few banknotes from his pocket—folded up like scraps of unimportant paper—and placed them on the counter without unfolding them. I felt like telling him that this kind of behavior is shocking in Thailand, but I let it go. (To be fair, a drunk English woman had tried to stir up trouble with me the night before, knowing she had her friend and their two boyfriends backing her up, so I wasn’t keen to pick up an argument.)

Bangkok I have no problems but I have had I guess four arguments this week in Pattaya , small stuff and two horrendus psychopaths who worked a food cart - violence is a step away here always and I don't have that feeling anywhere else but I a receive a lot of signals and view a lot and film and I think this place is a powder keg  - I did see israelis today with the caps and white ropes hanging from their clothing , I shouted free Palestine and moved on , happy if they took offence they didn't -

It's just louder here although Phuket has it's problems also but I only went once and not recently but I know they are ladyboys there in Phuket doing stuff they could not get away with in Bangkok etc , same goes for Pattaya , you can ride a bolt taxi in Bangkok but here it's illegal and posted on the taxi stops

Bangkok is just safer and I know a couple of lb bars here that have beaten guys very badly I don't film them , I think too many people are having a ball and don't see it but me I just document and sleuth around  silently usually so I see it /
