it's an approximation..... direct LA to BKK is about 18 and NYC to BKK is like 20. And chances of having multiple flights are high so add another 4 or 5 hours per connecting flight.

 

I haven't taken this kind of flight over the past 3.5 plus years so it's just based on memory.
