  1. I just asked the Thai lady who handles this at the condo that I rent. She said something like, "if you don't mind when you come back from Bangkok we can do a TM30 for you. We can do it online". I liked this answer as I thought I might put her out if I asked her to do this. But usually when I go to Bangkok for a night or two I stay on the sofa at my friend's condo. So in that case, I wouldn't ask her to do a TM30 as my friend would not have done so in Bangkok. Actually, he would be violating condo rules if I was staying for less than a month. I guess the problem is if you don't know if a guesthouse is filling out a TM30 or not. You can ask but the guesthouse receptionist will probably just guess which answer you want to hear. A buddy of mine went upstairs at bar in Jomtien to get better acquainted with a hostess. They didn't file a TM30.

    Airline News

Wing Commander Suthirawat Suwanawat, general manager of Suvarnabhumi Airport, Airports of Thailand (AOT), said on Friday (October 25) that Suvarnabhumi Airport will close the eastern runway (runway 01R-16L) and rapid exit taxiway at night from 1.30 to 8.30 am to repair and improve the surface. “The project will start on November 8 and is expected to be completed in 5 months, reopening on April 6 next year,” he said. “The total length of runway to be repaired is 1,100 meters, while the surface of taxiway nos. B3, B5, B7, B8, B10 and B11 will be replaced with asphalt to increase the strength to handle increased usage in the future.” Suthirawat further explained that the construction was scheduled at night time to avoid causing problems for passengers. “The west runway will still open during those hours, and both runways will be functional from 8.30 am everyday.” “During the periods of new year (December 25, 2019 – January 6, 2020) and Chinese new year (January 18-31, 2020), the repair on eastern runway will be temporarily suspended since the airport will be very busy,” he added. “AOT will also provide additional staff to facilitate passenger check-ins at every gate.” Suvarnabhumi Airport’s runway repair and improvement project will be carried out in 3 phases. The first phase covered 900 metres of eastern runway and was completed in April. The second phase will start November 8 as mentioned above, while the last phase will begin around October 2021 and covering the remaining distance on both runways. https://www.nationthailand.com/news/30377757

  4. It woke me up from my afternoon nap. There was an aftershock a couple days later. Thought it might have been a dream. The aftershock was much weaker and not as scary.
  5. I'll check and get back to you. But I suspect that they do. There seems to be 4 Mr DIYs in the monger areas of Pattaya: TukCom, Avenue, Royal Garden, Harbour Mall (Pattaya Klang). Lots of locations all over Thailand. Stores in the Philippines too but not at SM Mall in Angeles. I think they have a good business model. Their stuff is priced so low that you don't have to shop around to see if you can get a better price elsewhere. Here's their Thailand store locator: https://www.mrdiy.com/th/storelocator/
  6. Popped into Mr DIY at the Avenue today and bought 19 baht reading glasses. A case would be more expensive than the glasses but you can buy 10 baht soft cases for 10 baht on the ground floor of TukCom. There is also a Mr DIY at Royal Garden Mall and probably lots of other place. Batteries are dirt cheap. You can buy 99 baht boots perhaps useful if living on Soi Pothole. But don't know if it the sizes were UK or USA sizes. I'd rathe rthey use Euro sizes to avoid ambiguity. Also the Coffee place had a two for one sale so got 2 bags of coffee. Had them grind one on the spot and will have them grind the second bag when I need it. The saleslady has a barista certification certificate and seems quite knowledgeable about coffee. She said if coffee was roasted over 6 months ago then they sell it 2 for 1. I think maybe it matters more when the coffee is ground than when the beans were roasted.
  7. Strolled down Soi Chaiyapoon late in the afternoon and it is crawling with ladyboys. Ironically one of the few places you won't find ladyboys is in the Ass. For those who have seen Nick's videos and are inspired to enter the Ass, you won't have any trouble finding it as there is a prominent black and yellow sign that you can't miss. There are a couple of ladyboy bars plus Zaza Massage and it seems plenty of ladyboys were hanging at other massage shops. The 3rd Road end of the soi is paved to some degree but a big stretch still isn't paved. Guess the good thing about it not being paved is that it slows down motobikes. Downside is stumbling into a muddy hole half drunk at night. At Soi Buakhao the Oasis GoGo is renamed but that may have been for awhile now. Soi Xcyte isn't as busy as Soi Pothole but a pussy chasing buddy of mone had a good time at Club Xcyte earlier this year.
  8. Club Scum, a monthly party that embraces punk and drag, is a distillation of the fringe-friendly gay underground on the Eastside. Scum sits at the intersection of queer culture, punk culture and drag culture. It is for women, men, and literally every gender expression in between.
  9. On November 1st the Irishman opens for a very limited release. Directed by Scorcese, staring DeNiro as the Irishman, Pesci as a Mafia boss, and Pacino as Jimmy Hoffa. In December it will be on Netflix and won't be in theatres anymore.
  10. I think markets like certainty. Once everything is resolved once and for all, whether it be leaving or remaining, the pound should stabilize though I suspect not to prior levels especially if leaving. We have dozens of Facebook Groups and use a captioned version of that pic for one of our groups.
  11. Called into Katty Bar the other night. It's my favorite ladyboy bar in the Pattaya area. Great staff! Low prices! No pressure or pushy behavior! Comfortable outdoor seating on a soi that is more like a parking lot! Sexy, friendly ladyboys!
  12. It seems like they just remodeled. And Oct 20 is just about the time the guys who stay for 5 months get into town. Anyone know why they're closing?
  13. Has anyone ever attended a Thai Language School in Pattaya and if so would you recommend that school?
  14. On my laptop I was able to change my Spotify account from the Philippines to Thailand and it is working fine. Haven't tried on my phone yet; think it is a different account and may have forgot my password or other sign up details. Are there any significant advantages to a Premium plan?

    LK Metro

Took a walk down Soi LK metro around 7:45 the other night. Most gogos were offering a cheap draft beer option or happy hour. Kink was a notable exception. Customers seem willing to spend since it's Pattaya's premier gogo. Billibong was empty which surprised me. Scooters was crowded and Cafe Racer was packed. Maybe as the night goes on teh crowds will move from the bars to the gogos. As for me, I just went home without stopping in anywhere.
  16. For the past 10 years I've just been travelling within Southeast Asia and have only one major issue whichI attribute to my luggage literally falling apart and breaking open. I used to use soft luggage and overpacking ripped it apart. When I checked in to the airport they had to wrap it up a bit; it looked like a real mess and was actually partially open. So when I went through customs in Samui they went through my stuff quizzing me on what stuff was such as aspirin, ibuprophen, antacids etc. I don't think they really suspected me of anything but I guess they have to show they are doing their job. My bad; now I use hard backed luggage and don't overpack. Airport security seems lax in SE Asia. In the Philippines, I had water bottles in plain sight on the side of my backpack and was able to bring it on the plane. Good to hear they say it's a one off for you John. I know of some North Americans that got checked every time when returning home but that was a awhile ago; maybe things are loosening up the further in the past 9/11 is.

  18. We all have different needs when it comes to data plans. My situation is that I have free wifi at my condo for two devices and primarily want to be connected when I'm away from home. Also there are some situations where I might want to use my smartfone internet at home. I think I will try an AIS plan that gives me 1GB a month at max speed for 1 month which automatically renews and if I use up the 1GB it continues at the extremely slow speed of 128 kbs. The nice thing about the 128kb is that I won't get hit with exhorbitant fees if I go over the 1GB limit as described by 360 in the thread below. There might also be situations when I'm out and about and just need to retrieve one message and the 128kbs per second might be enough or once I realize I've been throttled, I can add on a short term plan if I have the codes handy. Note that you can get 2GB a month for just 239 but it doesn't revert to 128kbs if you use up your 2GB. In the past I've been using an unlimited plan but it seems in 2019 the price has gone up and unlimited does not mean unlimited anymore but rather there is a very high gigabyte allowance such as 20GB. If you're on Youtube, Netflix, or Chaturbate frequently maybe you will burn through this data, I dunno. There are also some plans with no restrictions unlimited AIS super wifi but have never used it. Anyone ever use AIS super wifi? I don't really understand the concept. I suppose some guys like auto renew and some like manual renew. Guess a downside to auto renew is that if you forget to cancel you will drain your balance if you leave Thailand. AIS has some sort of unlimited plans that gets throttled at 4Mbs or 6Mbs. I think 4Mbs is good enough for streaming but I really don't know. If you are upcountry and only have 3G but not 4G, I'm not even sure if you can exceed 4Mbs with 3G Here are some AIS links: http://www.ais.co.th/one-2-call/en/addon/nonstop.html http://www.ais.co.th/one-2-call/en/addon/internet4g_continued.html Some guys use Youtube for music but if you are only listening and not watching I guess Spotify is a better choice. My Spotify account worked in Thailand and the Philippines stopped working in Cambodia so I switched to Soundcloud. Anyone have any tips for Spotify? Here's a link about how much data Youtube consumes: https://www.whistleout.com/CellPhones/Guides/How-Much-Data-Does-YouTube-Use Here is a link regarding bandwidth efficiency so you don't burn through your data: https://www.howtogeek.com/201827/how-much-mobile-data-do-streaming-services-use-and-how-you-can-make-them-use-less/ How about True and DTAC? Anyone have good plans with them? Unless True or DTAC has clearly superior plans I'd be reluctant to switch from AIS though. Thoughts?
  19. Steady Eddy seems quite accurate!
  20. I was at Jomtien Immigration and there was a big sign with drawings showing unacceptable attire, mostly of women with short shorts or their boobs hanging out. But there was also a drawing of a guy in shorts. That said, probably half the guys there had shorts on. If you wear long pants on the plane to Thailand then you might as well wear them to Immigration. And the dress code will vary among various Immigration offices. The juristic person at the condo I am renting printed out 5 pages to bring to Immigration, one of them a screenshot of the online TM30 they filed. Immigration also gave me a new form called 90 Days Bank Checking which I must bring back in 90 Days with a copy of my recent bank updates which must be updated the day I go to Immigration. Note, this is NOT the 90 day report but they can be done on the same day. I get the impression that Jomtien won't bust balls about staying in Bangkok for a couple of nights but that's just a guess.
  21. Saw an ad on a baht bus about waxing for men. Mentioned various body parts including sack and crack. It's at a New Plaza salon near the fish 'n chips shop. Don't know the gender of the shavers. No fucking way anyone is shaving my ballsack. There's a buddy of mine that I often meet at New Plaza. Maybe after a couple Sangsom Cokes he'll get waxed!
  22. There is some construction going on forcing a detour for baht busses going from Jomtien to Pattaya. At the overpass, the baht bus turns on 3rd Road and takes Soi Yensabai to 2nd Road. So one can get off at Sunee near the now defunct Eros Club. Pattaya to Jomtien is unaffected. Btw, Winner Bar has raised their prices slightly but it is still the least expensive Pattaya gay gogo by far as well as being the twinkiest. Draft is 89 baht, gin and tonic 99baht, bottled beers are 109 baht, and ladydrinks are 139.
