  1. Giving this thread a bump since it might help Strocube when he is back on his feet! Ken, if you're reading Happy New Year!
  2. Can you receive texts? My main reason for having this sort of service is to receive verification code texts. I was looking into Google Voice but I think hey wanted to verify the account by texting an American number and I don't have one.
  3. And i thought it was only if smeared with haggis stains. But I think they are accepted at Super Rich Thailand's main office. At least it's listed on their website. Googling around, I found this about the dollar slide. It seems the expectation of a soft rather than hard Brexit and improvement in China-USA trade relations is hurting the greenback. I think in turbulent economic times the dollar and yen strengthen and in calmer times these currencies weaken. Think the sudden drop in the dollar index has to do with China though. From Reuters on Dec 31. But that doesn't fully explain the sharp decline against the baht. The BOT says: I don't know if one should trust what the BOT says, but maybe big currency transactions should be put off until next week.
  4. My inspiration for this thread comes from Petesie's pic in the New Bar thread. The rather sad Thai lady looks like she just spent 10 baht a minute but her sponsor won't be sending money for her sick buffalo. So how do you make overseas calls from Thailand? Most of my calls to the USA are to toll free numbers such as 800 and 888 and are free for me on Skype perhaps since I initially opened the account in the States. I also have Skype Out for the rare times that I must make an international call. If you use your Thai phone and dial an international number in the normal manner it can get quite expensive but AIS has 003 service which has reasonable rates to some countries. Rates to the USA just 3 baht a minute. But rates to Ireland for example aren't very good. You can check out the rates by clicking this link. https://www.ais.co.th/003/en/rate.html It's simple to use. Just dial 003 and then continue with the country code and phone number. I assume DTAC and True have some sort of similar service. Of course with friends you can just use Skype to Skype, Line, Whatsapp, Messenger etc. Anyone have other good ways to call overseas?
  5. I think what happened is that the Fed signaled that there would be no rate increases for all of 2020. All else being equal, low USA interest rates strengthens the baht vis a vis the USD.
  6. It's 2020 in Pattaya! Wifey and I were watching the festivities on TV from Central World in Bangkok as well as fireworks from all directions on the balcony. So it was a quiet one for us which felt just right. I've had my share of wild ones but waking up tomorrow without a hangover is exactly the way I want to start 2020. Undoubtably many of you in other time zones are getting ready to out and party hearty! Happy New Year!
  7. Just googled that. The Gay Village in Manchester is without doubt one of the liveliest areas of the city and this is reflected by the number of pubs, bars and clubs dotted around Canal Street, or 'anal treet' as it's also affectionately known locally. Is this really known as Anal Street with the A pronounced as in the word Lay?
  8. I guess coat hangers aren't just for abortions anymore. I always wonder where I would go if I had medical issues in Phnom Penh. If I was able to get on a plane I might just take the one hour flight to Bangkok. Googling around now I just came across this link to the supposed top 5 hospitals in Saigon. Have no idea how accurate the article is though. https://www.vietvisiontravel.com/post/top-5-recommended-international-hospitals-ho-chi-minh-city/ Curious was there a third person in the room taking the picture and if so was it a friend of yours or a nurse? Hope you are back in tip top shape soon Stro!
  9. The link above doesn't seem to display properly so here's the article.
  10. Lots of pros and cons to members seeing who gave whom Likes. One of the pros in being able to see who is giving Likes is that it leads to a more interesting and vibrant forum. One con to publicly seeing who gave whom Likes is that giving Likes and withholding Likes can very often be a way for keyboard warriors to say Fuck You to those they have a grudge against. We don't want a toxic atmosphere here on LBR. Of course, the majority of Likes have nothing to do with grudges. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar One of our main objectives at LBR is to have a friendly forum. We used to have our mission statement above every sub-forum. Our mission statement was something like. "Our mission is to provide our members a friendly, informative, flame free forum focusing primarily on the Southeast Asian Ladyboy scene." Then after one of the forum software upgrades this announcement disappeared. I'm well aware that most guys do not want a super friendly forum. And I think it can be quite interesting to watch one guy and his mates go on the offensive against another guy and his mates in the blood sport of forum gamesmanship. That's just not our vision for Ladyboy Review. LBR is our hobby of sorts and quite frankly we don't want the stress that's associated with moderating a rough and tumble forum.
  11. The town really felt busy tonight. There were more people than baht busses at the queue to Jomtien. Much more traffic than I've seen this entire season. My teerak had 9 massage hours today.
  12. Any New Years Resolutions gents? Lose 5 kilos? Suck more cock? Lose your anal virginity? My resolution is to significantly improve my Thai in the next three months.
  13. Welcome aboard Dave! That is easily accomplished! The problem that arises is when you want to break up! So choose carefully!
  14. Wildest that I've seen there except for the night with Miss A from overseas. I have been told that there have been other wild nights but usually when I'm the there it is very low key environment.
  15. Interesting to see a Vietnamese ladyboy wearing an American flag outfit!
  16. Had a great time tonight! I arrived late. Annat, I was told that you had just left a minute or two earlier. The birthday girl was mao mak. All the Katty Kittens were in good form. Tiger, appropriately named, seems like she is a real tiger in bed. The food was delicious. Had a chance to catch up with my mates. A great time was had by all!
  17. I think if you want to keep the same number then u would have to switch carriers as unintuitive as that seems. So if currently with AIS you would need to need to have True register your number or vice versa. But dont know for sure.
  18. I recommend the official or more official AIS service center at Central.
  19. Welcome aboard Jamespoo! Good to have choices if visiting South Africa!
  20. At 10:34 a nice long look at Fantasy Lounge. Before that a quick look at Nidcha Bar.
  21. This is only for new Sims registered in the last 7 days. If you want to stay with DTAC you would need to get a new Sim and a new number which is probably 50 baht. I think you could get a new Sim with True or AIS and keep your old number. And then do the 200 baht a month plan with True or AIS. But I have never done this and would involve going to a True or AIS service center in order to exchange an existing number to another company's Sim. Looking at the Recharge website, Recharge can be used with DTAC, AIS, and True. This promotion ends on December 31st so you would need to buy a new Sim, top up so u have 200 baht credit, and then dial the code to get the plan.
  22. I think different people use HiSo differently. Think the original meaning of High Society was referring to the type of people attending debutante balls and charity galas. But I don't think people who are actually HiSo refer to themselves that way. Seems that nowadays it's used perjoratively referring to posers who may have money but no class. A good example of this is Trump with his gaudy gold drapery and eating well done steaks with ketchup. I don't think you would find the Duchess of Wherever in High Society on Fields in Angeles City. Rather you'll find sex tourists and prostitutes who probably are lots more fun than Newport blue bloods.
  23. I believe it's currently set at 7. Not sure when the day begins and ends though.
