  1. 12 Dreams is one of THE CLASSIC rock albums of all time in my book, perhaps in the top ten. a decent follow up sound is to be had in Jo Jo Gunne's first album. The bass player and perhaps the singer from Spirit. It's a long time ago, I'm sure someone will correct me if my old stoner brain got it wrong :) Really, MOST of the GREAT music came from people/bands that did not last long. One hit wonders or few album run. Cream, barely 3 years. The Band, my GOD...that's a library of great tunes I can listen to across the decades, but only a few great albums. Logic alone would dictate that no one or two guys can write GREAT songs for year after year. And once business gets into it, forget it. The idea that people could choose ONE song as the greatest ever, kinda impossible. But Stairway would be in the top runners. Top five picks from y'all might be interesting but I can't figure what *I* would vote on. SO many good bands back in the day. Stones would be UP there too. Satisfaction? Sympathy? What Who song? Bowie? something off Ziggy I'd guess. Do you go by greatest as in most popular? most sold song? Quite impossible task. But fun to think of.
  2. I'm not convinced Dan exists. We know those pests are out there, so it follows some can make money by writing about em. Even if it's total fiction and just the opinion of the writer. Should it be that he exists, I suspect the girls will play him just as they do any customer.
  3. just on the news, LZ being sued for stealing the opening riff from Taurus. Relatives of Randy California must need new mansions. Randy always said they lifted it from Spirit, but did not take any action. LZ is no stranger to the courtroom. They were successfully sued by Howling Wolf or someone for lifting Killing Floor. Forget what they turned it into
  4. you are not alone. It's obvious too. BUT music has always been about borrowing. I'm with ya on STH. I can live out my life never hearing it again. It's etched on my brain, like Satisfaction and many others. In fact with around 4000 tunes on my puter I think I only have a couple Led Zep ones. Babe I'm gonna leave you is one. Not even one of their biggies. Odd how some things you LOVED as a kid just don't translate to NOW. Jethro Tull is that way for me. got the first few albums on the puter, never listen to em. Go figger. Might be a good idea for a thread. stuff you loved as a kid and never listen to NOW.
  5. it's a valid difference. Are you saying all music, is um...music? OP said rock n roll. And there IS a difference between Chuck Berry and ACDC. Need? crap Lung, music just GETS categorized. Rock is pretty amorphous, in some way it's more of a tree growth, up and out. Not fond of the "alternative" tag...that could be ANYTHING. Talk about vague and amorphous.
  6. Donny is right, there is Rock n Roll, 50s mostly, and there is Rock. But Rock might take in anything from Dylan to Abba to the Beatles, etc. One could argue about THE greatest song in rock ever until the sun burned out. Only way I see Dylan as rock is with Jimi playing All Along the Watchtower. Will have to admit, the first song that came to my mind as I read this topic title at first is Stairway to Heaven. Tho after hearing it a million times, I pretty much don't care if I never hear it again. Satisfaction is also up there, but then so could other songs be...Sunshine of Your Love" ? Mississippi Queen? If you'd asked this question at one time In a Gadda da Vidi would have made the list. Or something by Grand funk. Bohemian Rhapsody maybe? Perhaps a better Idea for topic might be Top FIVE Rock songs.
  7. hate it. I never had loading probs with the old. This one has a jerky scrolling, not smooth, it's annoying. Might be the straw....we'll see
  8. 3500 baht fine might do a bit more. IF they cared.
  9. this is a big money production. Wonder who's behind it and why. It's not simply one guy putting up his favs as usual. Maybe it's TOT :)
  10. I can't take this guy seriously. He's obviously got a type. They all look about the same to me, he sure loves the big eyed look.
  11. don't matter to me. I grew up in the late 60s/early 70s when lots of girls dressed like the guys. T shirt and jeans, etc. Last girl I took before I left arrived dressed like that with a faint moustache :) Still, the fem side of her was there. She used to work at Darkside.
  12. I love any of the shorter hairstyles. Just tired of the typical LONG straight hair, often in a ponytail. Gets a bit boring to me sometimes.
  13. one bottle will get you thru 3 days of that? I would need 2 at least. You know ladyboys that don't drink? :)
  14. soiboy NAILED IT. I said just as much in some thread. Maybe the "has the thrill of the naughty scene waned" thread. Which this post could be in regards to.
  15. For such a big country....nothing in years?
  16. it's a good topic. I often wonder about this as, because i'm older or on the fringe of ladyboymania, mostly I get into where I stay at 1am, get some thing to eat at a streetfood place, get a bottle of water or some such and head home to sleep and await the morning to see how severe the jet lag will be. NOW...THIS year I headed straight to Nana to have a drink or two and soak it up. I'm convinced that soon it'll be mostly gawkers. Families even. Couples taking selfies with ladyboys outside Cascade. I saw groups of guys, as many as 8 leaving Nana with not a girl in tow. But it's still fun to take in after you've got off the plane from Dullsville.
  17. I enjoyed meeting jimslim once in Guess.. Mostly I'm a small fish. Have felt a bit of this ignore the little fish thing tho. Think it's always been around to some extent.
  18. dammit, don't TELL THEM how they got in, easy 12345 passwords...just keep at em now and then tweakin their nose and I think they will sit down and STFU. :)
  19. but, but.... THIS is on CL now... prefers topping :)
  20. online in 95. first digital camera in 2006. I STILL hate cellphones but one saved me a few times in Thailand. Like the time i got to Khon Kaen to see a friend and found out she was in BANGKOK! She called her hubby and he came and picked up me and the gf and put us up in his "rubber tree farm" for a week. So yeah, they can be handy, but in general that's one modern gizmo I have little use for. The cam card going into the laptop for editing and backup storage is an almost everyday thing on my trips. Digital cameras...remember paying big bux for paper pics? Hell, in one trip up the Chao Praya I took 200 some pics. Could NEVER do that old school. The lappie? my movies, tv shows, news (tho MOST of what they peddle as news and info is bullshit, BIG grain of salt time), emails, skype, Magic Jack calls back to the states to talk with my bank or pay a power bill or somethin, it's endless. Laptops rule in my book. Got NO use for this new cloud computer stuff.
  21. happy good looking girl. Not a bad fine.
  22. it was GREAT as a kid in the 60s, full size candybars, good stuff. Now it's teeny ones tho probably no apples or homemade cookies. We'd do a good size grid and come home with enough booty to fill a dresser drawer. It was fun. I guess about half of the kids made some sort of costume. Now it's totally commercialized like Valentines day, et al. It's just another holiday for businesses to cash in on. Opt out.
  23. I really can't figure out there objection to it. It's leading Thai youth astray? NOT THAI ! Neither are button down shirts, western pants, microwaves, um...cellphones, computers.... It's only terribly adulterated tobacco. Is it because it gives them yet another reason to raid and fine? Or an excuse to raid and fine those places they don't like for one reason or another? Typically Thai, there's no logic in it.
  24. Interesting, knows enough of each language but don't have an idea where to go. I would say hit Thai Friendly and pick an older one that specifies relationship. (though I think MOST of them say that trying to get the greenist mark). Phils seems to have more prone to real gf stuff. The point about time is VERY on the mark. They'll be working or schooling or both 12 hours a day, six days a week. You never said, but I get the feeling you want SEX. So, lemme see, you want some nookie, are afraid of STD's, want a girl NOT in the game (good luck there bub). I think knowing more might help but off the cuff I'd say Thailand and avoid the bars, maybe hit the malls. Really no idea, it's MUCH easier to just go for sex. That's when you meet the ones that claim to want what you seem to.
