Scenes from Phnom Penh

So I hear you say, what does this place called Phnom Penh look like that a few FMs keep going on about. First off it is a fairly smallish city, well the part that concerns most of us westerners.

One of the most popular places for visitors to stay is on the Riverfront area on Sisowath Quay, which faces the Tonle Sap river, which in turn merges with the Mekong here also.

It has a wonderful promenade, great for a late afternoon/evening stroll, just watch out for those pesky Filipino card scam artists. When I was last here in 2009 it was being redeveloped, and a fine job has been done since. For most of the info you need on PP, check this link.

So having plenty of time on my hands, I have been snapping away around town and maybe some of you might be interested in what the place looks like, get a feel for it and maybe even visit some day.

First off the Promenade.

Thanks for the comments guys. I was not sure if this thread would be popular, a good start so far, let's see how it goes. PP is a very colourful place, so most times I have the camera in Vivid mode to get the best out of the surroundings.

The Cham make up the majority of the less than 1% Muslim community here in Cambodia. A percentage earn their living from fishing and selling their catch in the markets off the quay here in PP. When their boats come in it can look like a scene from water world or something straight out of the bible (ironically for Muslims)

So good to see PP again thru BB's photo eye! A real asset to this forum --- long life and happy adventures, BB! :goodjob: :drinks:

It was your encouragement, while we were strolling around one day, that got me to start this thread, cheers. :friends:

Some shots of the buildings alone the Riverfront, the area where many visitors to the city stay, facing the magnificent promenade covered earlier.

It's a great city for photography, makes it so easy to capture.

I agree. PP has photogenic charm for sure.

A wonderful city!

Fir you guys making visa runs, rather than a van to the border, consider flying to PP. BB is showing many reasons why in this thread. Some nice ladyboys too!
