A Yank killed an Aussie at the Ruby Club on Soi Half A Dozen Friday night.   Given the sophisticated website, it is probably an Addicts Group bar.

The Melbourne man killed in a bar fight in a Thai red light district was the victim of a “coward punch”, shocked friends have told news.com.au.

Witnesses claimed on social media that Benjamin Robb was attacked by up to five men and his head repeatedly stomped on.

But friends of Mr Robb have told news.com.au there was only one attacker and that he was the victim of a coward punch.

“Ben hit his head on the ground hard after the American guy punched him in the face,” one said. “It was a coward punch. There is an investigation going on right now.”

The friend said witness reports that Mr Robb had his head stomped on and was targeted in a pack attack weren’t accurate and had upset the family. “This is a good Aussie guy who has been killed,” the friend said.

Another source said there was only one man, an American, who attacked Mr Robb.

The victim is believed to have been attacked at the Ruby Lounge in infamous red light district of Pattaya on Friday night. A witness claimed the Australian was thrown across the room, repeatedly punched and then had his head stomped on several times as he lay on the floor.

Thai media identified the victim as Mr Robb, who was aged in his 40s and lived in the suburb of Newport.

He was rushed to Pattaya Memorial Hospital but his injuries were too severe and he died a few hours later.

“He [the attacker] smashed his foot from above in the guys [victim’s] face at least 10-15 times with full force. That whole incident lasted probably 20 seconds,” a witness wrote on social media.

The attack left the man unconscious and with “horrible” wounds to his face.

“Barstools were flying everywhere and I’m pretty sure some other customers and maybe even girls were hit. The guy was totally out of control.”

The witness claimed the attackers took pictures of the injured Australian as he was dying.

“The bully’s buddies where making pics of the poor guy and were very proud of her friend. They didn’t make an attempt to leave the bar. We left the scene before the ambulance arrived,” the post read.

An American man has been arrested over the incident. Local media report the man initially fled the scene but then handed himself into police.

Both the Australian man and the American had been drinking heavily in the bar for several hours before the violence began.

The Ruby Club promotes itself as a venue that “ knows how to heat things up and bring a flirty mood to your night out with there selection of fun girls all dedicated to putting a smile on your face. Come Join The Fun At Ruby Club!”

Its website boasts of having “five comfortable rooms close to the action” alongside pictures of scantily clad young women.

A statement from the Ruby Club management said: “An altercation lasting less than 20 seconds between two customers on Friday night resulted in one person being taken to hospital with serious looking injuries, which sadly resulted in him passing away in the early hours of Saturday morning. No other customer or staff member was injured during the incident.

The other individual involved handed himself in to police and it is understood he is to remain in custody until a court appearance in 10 days or so.”

It continued: “Whilst our thoughts remain with the victims relatives, we would also like to thank the emergency services for their prompt and professional attention in dealing with the incident.”

The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed the man’s death.

“DFAT is providing consular assistance to the family,” a spokesman said.

What one eyewitness who didn't know either party said was that the Aussie was very drunk and had fallen off his barstool about 5 minutes before the attack.  He was also aggressively making out with a bargirl and they were choking each other.

The Americans were also very drunk with one of their group vomiting in the bar.

The American knocked the Aussie to the ground and then stomped on his head with full force about a dozen times.

The Forum poster from Germany had no axe to grind and did know either party and posted before it was known the guy died.

He was going to barfine his girl upstairs but changed his mind when the Aussie was lying unconscious on the floor.

This gives a bit more of insight into what sort of Man Polanco is .

Polanco was charged with murder in the second degree by North Miami Police in 1993. Court documents seen by news.com.au reveal Polanco, who was then a teenager, killed Michael Cooper after receiving $20 for looking at a problem with Mr Cooper’s car.

Further proof that LOS will let just about anyone into their country yet they are worried about people vaping

The vaping law seems to be all about protecting tax revenue on cigarettes. If the Thais ever figure out how much they could be taxing smokes like in the US then ( --------- ) (you can fill in the blank).

An American man charged with the deadly assault of an Australian was expected to re-enact the fight in a Soi 6 bar and make his first appearance in court this week.

Jose Manuel Polanco Jr., 43, has been in custody since he surrendered to Pattaya police Feb. 12 following the death of Benjamin Matthew Robb, 43, hours after a drunken brawl in the Ruby Club.

Investigators on Feb. 13 said they had interviewed witnesses to the attack and were awaiting an autopsy report to certify the exact cause of death, which was suspected to be a brain hemorrhage caused by Robb being punched in the face and hitting his head after crumpling to the ground.

The chief investigator, Pol. Lt. Col. Teerasak Seesaeng, said he interviewed Ladda Onphukhao, the cashier at Ruby Club, who was seated only a meter away from the brief, but brutal, fight.

Australian media claimed police said they had security camera video footage of the incident, although cameras right over the bar were not working.

Also interviewed was Rungarun Saensuwan, the bar hostess who was the unwilling spark that ignited the fight. Polanco has told police he was only acting in defense of the late-20s bar maiden, who he said Robb had grabbed by the throat and lifted until she turned blue.

Rungarun confirmed to police that Robb had indeed lifted her by the neck and she had trouble breathing, but the two were only playing around. He was not attacking her.

She added that she’s sad about being the object of the fight and planned to go to Pattaya Remand Prison to visit Polanco, who has had numerous visitors since his incarceration.

The defendant was expected to appear at Pattaya Provincial Court sometime during this week to acknowledge formal charges, as well as participate in a re-enactment of the assault. Polanco has denied intentionally killing Robb, so it was unknown how he would carry out his part of the re-enactment without admitting guilt.
