Mmmm, another person being quoted as saying Israel is doing something great, as doing a great job with vaccinations. Maybe they are but they were slow to bring the population to heed the danger of Covid. They have a population of about 9 million so easier to cater for than larger countires. They are only just bringing the death toll to a halt. I guess with the control that the Jews have over US policy it is no wonder that praising comments like this are made. Maybe if he had quoted New Zealand and Australia as being role models he would be more on target. They took steps much earlier to control the spread of the virus. Australia has been a bit slow in vaccinating people,(only about 2.6 million out of 25 million so far), but the death rate is nil and has been for some time. Same as New Zealand. Israel has a problem with vaccinating Palestinians. Very few getting the jab. Perhaps they need to heed the decision that Thailand has taken to vaccinate falangs. Hope that does not change?.

I don't agree with you and Rom about lb pricing soon being on a par with Western lbs. That will only happen if a lot of stars align. Eg, the powers that be in Thailand allow the lower classes to improve their standing. Why would they?. It keeps them down!. Lb prices will only increase dramatically if we as the customers pay stupid prices. Guys going around precovid throwing 3 or 4000 baht for a short time just to show that they are 2 week bigshots!. I bet now, that you could get the best for less than 1500. Things change and we as customers are the controlling force. If we resist the urge to splash out, (excuse the pun), and pay what is a reasonable price considering the cost base in Thailand, I think there is no reason for prices to skyrocket. Post covid,(if there is to be such a thing), numbers of tourists to Thailand will not be what they were before, so if there are the same number of lbs around, supply and demand will control the prices. ps I do like the lb in the photo. I am a sucker for that "look", except for the navel studs. Cant stand those.

I am sure that is true. I think the impression that some Thai guys give is that the girls are the breadwinners.

No, I wasn't missing that. The number of Thai lbs is very small as a proportion of the population in my reckoning and I think does not make up the imbalance of numbers. Have a look at the numbers of Thai gg's climbing the stairs to the nightclubs, then try and pick out the Thai guys. Way out of whack!. Maybe the girls are smarter and earn more money,(however they earn their money. Maybe on their backs), which allows them to go out and leave their siblings at home?.

I am by no means an expert. I can only comment on what I have seen and observed over the past 5 and a bit years. Think it is taken that the majority of "working"girls come from Isaan. I am sure there are some from other areas as well. I dont think the hierarchy have any interest is fostering higher education in those areas. It is a source of cheap labour!. Many in power would appear to control a large number of businesses that need cheap labour. The "Bosses" have no need to educate those workers. We humans are all the same. WE want to foster what benefits us the most. It would appear that in Thailand the power base is quite small, unlike in most other countries. As long as the powerbrokers want cheap labour it will stay as it is in areas like Isaan, thereby forcing the young girls to seek work in Pattaya and BKK. I am sure there will be a gradual improvement in educational standards but over a long period. There does seem to be a very parochial attitude towards language teaching. The number of staff in the tourist industry who have only a very basic handle on English is very apparent. As an aside to this, it always strikes me that when you see videos of areas like Walking Street and Soi 4 in BKK, that the number of Thai girls way outnumbers Thai boys. I am sure there is some logical reason.Maybe the girls who are all dolled up are mostly sex workers and out to earn money, (or are they),and obviously the Thai guys cant do the same so stay or are entertained in non tourist areas?. Is that logical?.
