  1. Fawlty Towers Monty Python Parks and Recreation (stay with it JaiDee - 1st season lackluster, 2nd very good, 3rd brilliant!) 30 Rock (it ran out of steam or Jumped The Shark it's final 2 seasons) South Park The Simpsons (1st 10 seasons were wonderfull, with diminishing returns thereafter) The Office (BBC version Gervais/Merchant) Extras (Gervais/Merchant again) The Ricky Gervais Show - HBO is airing an animated show featuring edited highlights from the classic Gervais/Merchant/Karl Pilkington radio show/podcast Frasier - set in my ol' stomping grounds and featuring great scripts Finally, I'll throw in Family Guy. Not my usual cup of tea, as some of it is downright stupid, but my girlfriend loves it and I've come to appreciate how amazingly crude and downright disgusting it can be at times.
  2. I've never even mentioned Pattaya to anyone back home, but I'd bet 2/3 suspect I'm a sex tourist as soon as I mention Thailand. The friggin Oprahs and Rickie Lakes of USA ladies tv have done so much trumpeting of hoohah about "sex slaves" that it's now on most women's radar here. I even went so far as to tell everyone I was going to Mexico a couple of years back, but decided later that I didn't care so much that it was worth lying about the country I was visiting. I just tell everyone I'm going to a high-end resort in Koh Samui and they don't ask much more after that.
  3. Christ, is that for real.....? Slowing the winds down??? I'd laugh if it wasn't so fucking scary.
  4. I'm arriving Sunday, but have a football game to watch at 6:30 AM on Monday morning. Thus, I'm not certain that I will be out on the town until Tuesday at the earliest, then again you never know.

  7. Fuck. Latest report (Monday 1/13 here in the States) from the NYTimes quotes some dickhead as saying they are going to shut down the air traffic control if Yingluck hasn't stepped down by Wed. I'm supposed to fly Friday, arrive Sunday. I usually wire transfer $$$ from my USA bank account to my Kasikorn account prior to my trip, but I think with all the unrest I'd be best to put USA $$$ in my sock and bring 'em that way. Then I can deposit into Kasikorn at the Patts branch if I arrive safe. If for some reason the plane is turned away, then I'm not stuck trying to figure out how to get a couple thousand bucks back outta my Kasikorn account, especially as this could turn out to be my last trip for a few years (unless the thing with my live-in GF falls apart, which is always possible given my track record!)
  8. Let me check the scene out this weekend and report back next week. For now, I'd go with Famous (which should shortly be moving to the new "Lita Bar" nearer to Walking Street) or La Bamba. Former for the relaxed atmosphere and groping; latter for the relaxed atmosphere great for conversation with friends surrounded by hot eye candy.
  9. No, you got it right, and most likely it's the new remake as that's been on cable a bunch lately. It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea, so I'm not surprised - I'd bet it would be on many member's "least favorites" lists. I'm just weird that way.
  10. thanks for the update Quinn
  11. Funny you should pick "Evil Dead" Tomcat - I was a huge fan of the original, directed on a shoestring budget by Sam Raimi. Sam went on to direct 2 more Evil Deads, then the first 3 Spiderman films as well as cult stuff like Darkman and the recent (I thought horrible) Oz film. He's always been quirky and inconsistent, but I gotta love him for that. And as a 24 year old Video Store employee, when the original Evil Dead came out, it was revolutionary. I must assume you're referring to the recent remake (by a totally different creative team) which my girlfriend forced me to watch a couple of months ago on cable. I was actually mildly amused as it didn't totally butcher the legacy of the original, and updated it with some interesting stuff. All in all, I thought it was an enjoyable waste of 90 minutes. That's what makes film criticism so much fun - one man's meat and all that! I admit I'll be in the minority regarding this film, but I am happy to embrace exploitation stuff if it's done capably. I've got a brand-new BluRay disc in front of me that I'm watching tonight called "42nd Street Forever" which is nothing but trailers from grind house classics (like the original Evil Dead). I'll be in hog heaven watching that! http://synapse-films.com/synapse-films/42nd-street-forever-the-blu-ray-edition/ When I read this topic my first instinct was to call out one of the acknowledged schlock classics, like Plan Nine From Outer Space or Glen or Glenda (both by the trash auteur Ed D. Wood). But when I actually thought about it a bit I decided that my current most detested film would have to be The Happening starring Mark Wahlberg and directed/written by M. Night Shamalamadingdong. I LOVED his first two films - The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable - but everything since then has been a case of diminishing returns, which each being dramatically worse than it's predecessor. I actually laughed out loud in the opening scene of The Happening because Mark Wahlberg as a math (or was it science?) teacher was so preposterous I thought it was supposed to be a satire, but found it was meant to be taken straight-faced. As close runners up I'd have to go for almost anything by Michael Bay, with Pearl Harbor and the most recent Transformers film taking top honors.
  12. You already know one of mine - a girl that can deepthroat me to the root without gagging and choking. My other is one I've mentioned many times - a super long tongue. No, the girls in these pics aren't photoshopped, those are all real.
  13. When I was a kid I remember we got to be a Nielsen family for a brief period. It was before digital recording equipment, so you had to fill out a diary of what was watched, when. I filled it out for the family (I was about 10 or 11) and said that we'd watched all this cool stuff - z grade horror movies, and other "cult" type stuff that I'm still into to this day. I didn't put down the truth, that we were watching crap like The Brady Bunch and The Partridge Family (Friday nights on ABC I believe) and tried to boost the stuff I wanted to become more popular. They quietly dropped us after 3 months.
  14. Credibility of your respective sources is on JaiDee's side by a veritable landslide though.
  15. They killed Kenny! Those BASTARDS!!!!!
  16. In the USA the driver is not the medical professional (doctor, nurse, etc.) but the ridiculous margins earned by the insurance companies and hospital administration.
  17. Rx, as usual you have given me the information I need in order to feel reassured. Of course there's no guarantee, but after reading this I went from thinking I have a 25% chance of getting to LOS to feeling like I've got a good 70-85% chance of the trip coming off without a hitch. I'll take those odds. Yes, I'll fly into BKK then go direct to Patts. I end up back in BKK for 5 nights before I fly home in February, by which time things should have sorted themselves out. If not, I'll have time on the ground to figure out a plan. Thanks again.
  18. Oh fuck.... I'm arriving BKK on January 19. They better have the airport freed up by that time or I'm going to have to kick some ass.
  19. DK, I'll be in Patts until Feb. 5th, hope to bump into you again.
  20. This is hilarious Lefty. I gotta start checking The Onion. I'm going to post this over to PLB. This is something they need to read. :) EDIT: On second thought, I've been silent over there most of the past 6 months so that I won't be noticed on my next trip.... so why poke the beehive 3 weeks before my next trip? It would be fun to see someone post it over there though.
  21. That was fantastic. Would have fit perfectly into the old National Lampoon back in it's glory days. I've never heard someone refer to their dick as their "Magic Johnson" before, but I have a feeling I'll never forget it now. Thanks for posting this Lefty.
  22. fucking love it. If the Klu Klux Klan were still around, it would have been fun to watch them shit themselves as these guys pranced by.
  23. I just went online and ordered a few of the "Oraquick In Home HIV Test" double-packs (contains two test) for $60 each ($30 per test) from Amazon: http://www.asiahotelandtravel.com/index.php?/topic/164-confidential-std-testing-for-americans/?p=524 The only way to be 100% safe is to wear a condom (or abstain!) but I also know from experience that sometimes things happen... and remembering my old Boy Scout motto, it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. I'm wondering how a girl might react if I ask her to let me swab her gums.... once she figures out I'm not talking about something kinky she might tell me to fuck off.
