I was toying with the idea of staying in Chiang Mai for a few months next year or maybe then year after next. I've been there twice but a long time ago and stayed in the Loi Krok area. But I have no real need to be around hostess bars. I'd like to be in an area that has late night red bus service and have no desire to rent a motobike. I like them idea of being able to walk to where I want to go. Googling around I see some seem to like Nimman. I was also thinking about them Old City. Is it easy to find a nice enough place with an affordable rent in these areas? Or would I not want to be in these areas? If living in the Old City is it better to be near certain gates?

Here's what happened: PATTAYA — A bar owner in the resort town of Pattaya was arrested Tuesday night on suspicion of forcing a minor into prostitution at an establishment police said served a foreign clientele. Wannida Man-in, 24, allegedly ran the illicit business on the second flood of Relax Bar in Soi Buakhao, according to Pattaya police chief Apichai Klobpetch. Wannida pimped out the 17-year-old girl exclusively to foreigners, Col. Apichai said Wednesday. “She only accepted foreign clients, both farang and Asians,” Apichai said. “They didn’t serve Thais.” Apichai said officers raided the bar on a tip. He said Wannida claimed the girl voluntarily asked for the job, and she did not know she was a minor. Wannida was charged with human trafficking, pandering and running a bar without a permit. The court denied her bail on Wednesday, Apichai said. The girl was reportedly sent to a state-run shelter home in Chonburi province. Asked whether any foreign clients would be prosecuted, Apichai said police were trying to find them, but the girl told him she could not remember any names. “She said she couldn’t remember. There were some Europeans, but she couldn’t remember their names,” the colonel said. In recent years my budget allocation has really changed. Back a few years ago, I would spend more in bars and lived in a relatively cheap room while nowadays I much prefer springing on a good room and not going out to the bars that much. Has your budget allocation changed over the years is is it mostly the same as when you first started going to Thailand?

January is usually an extremely dry month on the Andaman coast but the south of Thailand has benn getting lots of rain and there's been flooding. Much worse though on the Gulf of Thailand side of the Malay Peninsula. Where I am electric is down and my local 7 is closed. Luckily I hAve a data plan with my Sim that I use if WiFi is slow or non existent. Heard it was also rainy in Sodom By The Sea.

There are a strip of bars in Ban Chang that cater to golfers in the afternoon and off shore workers in the evenings. When I was there a few years ago, a ladyboy told me that there were 8 ladyboys working those bars at that time. My friends flight was scheduled to arrive at 11:45 PM on December 26th. However the flight was delayed and it landed around 12:45 in the morning. My friend got stamped on the 27th rather than the 26th. It would seem to be extra work if Immigration kept track of scheduled arrival times and lots of extra work to keep track of landing time. Not sure what the official policy is; just reporting on the experience of my friend.

I guess she doesn't get many repeat customers these days so she was trying to make hay when the sunshines. The Pattaya Bus Station is not the easiest place to get to. One way is to get yourself to Pattaya North Road and then take a blue baht bus up there. The baht bus queued at Dolphin Roundabout can take along time to load up though. Or you can get to Sukhumvit and take a white baht bus to Pattaya North Road right near the bus station. Not sure if the price is going up for the white busses which has a 95% Thai ridership. Last time I went to Pattaya I took the Jomtien Bus to Suvanaphumi which is 120 baht and then the airport rail link into Bangkok. I really like this way as you won't be sitting in traffic but not that great if u have lots of luggage. Coming back I took the bus from Ekkami as I was in that neighborhood anyway. Always thought 10 baht was a real bargain for the baht bus, but at 20 baht I may have to pee in my pants twice at a bar with 5 baht bogs to make up for the difference to stay within my expat budget. Seriously, just a bit more likely to walk in situations where I can either walk or ride the bus. I just took a glance at a variety of forums and it seems guys don't seem to mind the 20 baht but resent the dual pricing especially if you are paying for a Thai and yourself and therefore expected to pay 40 baht. Not a big deal compared to all other expenses, but the double pricing is a real sore spot with lots of guys. Where I am right now it's 40 baht for a banana pancake but my teerak only has to pay 20, so she buys them for me. Delicious with banana on the inside and chocolate on the outside and I can put in the fridge and microwave for brekkie. So what do you guys think of double pricing, Sore spot or why sweat the small stuff?

It's from 2010 when dinosaurs were roaming around. It's very well done IMO, not your typical Thai comedy, no ghosts or ladyboys.
