  1. The Thai Cabinet has approved a proposal to allow nightlife venues in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) area to operate 24 hours a day to meet the growing needs of tourists. This includes the popular tourist city of Pattaya with thousands of entertainment venues. However, before you get too excited, the regulation is not yet official and needs approval from regional and local leaders along with guidelines and regulations for the change. No timeline for this has been set. The Ministry of the Interior is currently in the process of drafting a royal decree to allow the 24-hour operation of the entertainment venues within the EEC area. No exact completion date of the decree has been given yet. As for Pattaya, local officials will need to discuss the legislation first before making a decision in terms of which areas it will apply to and what rules and regulations will apply. No set date for when this is expected to happen has been given so excited bar owners are being told to wait for more information and city communication for now and to adhere to current legal closing times in the interim. Some early proposals suggest the change may only be to certain zones, such as Walking Street, and not the whole city, but this remains to be seen. Local MPs for Banglamung and Pattaya have been strong supporters of making Pattaya a 24 hour city like Vegas. https://thepattayanews.com/2023/07/19/thai-cabinet-approves-24-7-operation-of-entertainment-venues-in-eec-areas-including-pattaya/

Ladydrinks and Farang drinks are about the same price. I remember at the old location of Why Not farang beers were just 100 baht.

  4. Motorists are advised to avoid six areas in Bangkok where pro-democracy protesters are holding demonstrations on Wednesday. The police said demonstrations in many areas of Bangkok would affect travel around the city. The six pressure points are: 1. The Agriculture Ministry in Phra Nakhon district, affecting traffic on Ratchadamnoen Nok Road 2. The Russian Embassy in Thailand in Bang Rak district, affecting traffic on Sap Road 3. The Finance Ministry in Phaya Thai district, affecting traffic on Rama VI Road 4. Parliament House in Dusit district, affecting traffic on Thahan Road 5. The Democracy Monument in Phra Nakhon district, affecting traffic on Ratchadamnoen Klang and Dinso Roads (4pm) 6. The Constitutional Court in Lak Si district, affecting traffic on Chaeng Wattana Road People are advised to use routes parallel to the demonstration sites, the Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB) said, recommending that people use public transport where possible. Those who have to go to demonstration sites near schools and office buildings should plan their travel in advance. MPB has prepared traffic police to facilitate motorists, it added. For more information about traffic conditions and routes, contact traffic police at 1197 or download the traffic map at the 1197Callcenter Facebook page and from the @traffic_1197 Twitter account.
  5. Here is a Question Area although most questions might be better in an existing topic since topics get overlooked by people who don't browse by the View New Content Method. Questions But a thread of basic FAQs would be a good idea if someone wants to put it together.
  6. The waitresses (service girls) are 1000 barfine but the girls who are not waitresses have a 600 barfine, same as Cindy's. My guess is 2/3 or 3/4 of the girls there are not waitresses.
  7. Thanks Dan! So taking the Stairway to Heaven with a Service Girl is a 1000 baht barfine, a 300-400 room charge, and probably 1500 for the girl? But if you have a hotel room where you can bring the girl I suppose the best deal at CIB is a hostess (non-service) for 600 barfine after midnight and probably around 1500 for the girl for short time? And about the same for Cindy's and Why Not? In Pattaya if using the short time room it is best not to use the word barfine and instead say room while pointing upstairs. For example at Duangjai on Soi Pothole in Pattaya the room charge is 300 baht which includes the barfine and the payment for the girl is about 1000 baht. What makes things confusing is that in some bars the combined room/barfine fee is cheaper than a barfine to your room. But in some bars there are separate room and barfine charges.
  8. Dan, if you take a girl to a Check Inn Bar room upstairs is there an extra charge for the room beyond the barfine? If you bring a hostess (not service staff)upstairs before midnight is the barfine 600 or 1000? Do Cindy's, Why Not, and Chaos 9 have on premises rooms and if so is there an extra charge for the room?
  9. Before Covid the Why Not Girls came down to Pattaya and there was a competition of sorts at KRU.
  10. Don't recognize it but will take a stab and say it's off Soi Lengkee.
  11. I'll definitely be in Bangkok for four nights starting the 17th for a somewhat nerdy non-ladyboy related event but will probably arrive on the 15th or 16th. Hopefully our schedules match up Dan.
  12. In late August I'll be visiting both Cindy's and Check In and will give my opinion. Never been to Cindy's. Check In seems hands on and Delirious is usually a fun bar. Obsessions and places of that ilk I could do without but gotta admit my first entrance many moons ago was a real rush. I think it's difficult for a bar like Obsessions which has little regard for the needs of its customers should win unless the talent is an order of magnitude above the competition.
  13. It looks pretty good. The non NEP Bangkok bars seem to be in the right place. Pattaya is missing Aom Bar on Soi 7, Warm Up and Spot on Soi Boomerang, Flamingo in Pratumnak, M&M in Naklua, and Ray Bar in Jomtien. Maybe more, I don't get out of my neighborhood much.
  14. In my post, I just assumed that it was easier for Scandinavians to exchange for Euros instead of USD at home. However, if in their home country they can change for USD at the same percentage markup as for Euros then itis better to change for USD as the Buy-Sell spread in Thailand is tighter for USD than for Euros. Btw, Bangkok Bank has updated their daily exchange rate 4 times today and it's not even 10:30 AM yet. The recent political shenanigans are causing volatility and the Buy-Ask spreads are somewhat wider than usual. Parliament is meeting now but my Thai is mostly limited to bar talk such as "Did you eat rice today" so I don't understand what's going on.
  15. Lots of volatility in the baht today as FX traders assess the probability of blood on the sois. Bangkok Bank changed their exchange rate 7 times today already.
  16. It seems that during the day the baht busses load at the front of the line but at some point at night they load at the rear maybe starting around 11PM.
  17. Heads up.......don't bring Scandinavian banknotes to Thailand (probably many other places too). You will get a horrendous exchange rate, not just a poor rate. You can still use Wise or do other wire transfers and get an OK rate though. If you must bring cash then exchange your banknotes at home for Euros and bring Euros.
  18. A fitness center in Bangkok was raided where officers discovered many used condoms and said the center was allegedly being used secretly as a meetup location for gay sexual activities. Police raided a fitness center and sauna on the Ratchada Phisek Road near the Mahai Sawan Intersection. The raid came after law enforcement officers received anonymous complaints that the place was operated as a place for gays to have various sexual activities and not for fitness. Many used condoms were found by law enforcement on the grounds of the center in small massage rooms. The fitness center collected 200 baht in entry fees from men each time they visited. In total, 31 customers, four staffers, and one owner were found although not identified by police. No drugs were found and urine drug tests were performed on all customers but were all reportedly negative. Most of the customers told police that they came to this place to have sexual activities with other men and not for fitness center activities. Police did not find any evidence to prove that the center provided sexual exploitation. However, four staffers and the owner are facing charges of illegally gratifying the sexual desire of another person, a rare charge. https://thepattayanews.com/2023/07/08/fitness-center-raided-in-bangkok-allegedly-secretly-used-for-gay-sexual-activities/
  19. A lady didn't know they are doing roadwork on Thepprasit. Looks like she tied to make a U-Turn.
  20. Last night around 1 AM the busses were loading close to Pattaya Tai. It's possible that they use a different late at night or perhaps they reverted to the old system.
