Thanks for the update Papa Sam! That's the end of an era for sure. I'm sure many of us got naughty in that joint! Although the Amazonians who worked there were not really my type, I did like the layout of the place. Casanova had a comfy feeling to it. One might expect there to be more pressure in a place with these somewhat rougher looking girls but I found the opposite to be true. I also liked the layout of Mercury Bar and when bars close less choice for the punter. I don't like the re-modeling although it looks like it can now handle more customers although not many customers around. Wonder if it will be LB or GG? So I guess True Obsessions is the longest running Bangkok ladyboy bar if the name change from Obsessions to True Obsessions doesn't disqualify? I prefer lounge style bars to what Stogie branded as shitpits referring to the NEP bar's pressure and pricing. But I guess if all the shitpits were gone we'd miss them. I have no idea of Thai contract law, but unless you have invested lots of upfront money it seems just walking away for a lease is a good option if future rent is no longe due and when rents drop and tourists comeback quickly reopen in a new location.

The Phnom Penh garbage strike has been settled. It wasn't about wages. The city is changing sanitation haulers and the workers feared being screwed out of wages and benefits for hours already worked. The garbagemen make a paltry $180 a month if there is no overtime, a sharp contrast with the ruling elite.

Seems over the top to me too Jimbo. Nightwish has their own methods that seemed to work well for them pre-Covid. Personally I liked old skool Soi 6 before the proliferation of open air bars. Nightwish says the open air bars make significantly more money for them. I guess guys who liked the old Soi 6 can go to more glitzy and more expensive gentleman's clubs. Part of the Nightwish bar manager job description is drinking heavily with customers so the managers need to be compensated for a job that is somewhat unhealthy such as coal mining. They also say that their managers provide lots of value added service by mentoring newbies and teaching them the ropes. I suppose it makes it easier for a newbie to approach a bar manager as he knows the manager being compensated for his time. My only experience with a Manager Drink was in Phnom Penh. Sizzler Bar had a big problem with a customer who was complaining about a bill. After the customer left the male manager owner/brother of owner/whomever was sitting at the bar drained and dejected so I sent him over a beer which I expected to be the normal $1 or $1.50 and I got billed for a $3.50 ladydrink/staff drink. Complaining would then be yet another customer complaining about a bill so I was stuck. No good deed goes unpunished. Nightwish could be in trouble if they can't renegotiate rent as my impression is with their big overhead that they really depend on their cash flow. I heard they have already shuttered their Chaiyapoon bars.

Got a much better taste tonight. Arrived shortly before 10 and the bar was quiet probably die to the rain. It was just me, Sara, and Bua the cashier. Fine by me, I'll drink beer and listen to my tunes. Teyas showed up braless in her PJs and in gym shorts with no panties. She is on ELT (Extreme Ladyboy Time) and just woke up. Then a Thai guy showed up who I've seen there before and was buying Sara and Teya large Leos and Changs and it seemedhe was tipping them to chug them. Emmy shoed showed up around midnight and a farang semi-regular around 12:30 or so. I guess Teya hadn't eaten brekkie fist and chugging the beers got her mao quickly so there was a Teya show. It's 4AM and I'm to drunk too get them from my phone and resize but it was a fun night indeed. Will post some pics and perhaps a video if it came out OK tomorrow,

Took Bolt for the first time tonight. Reliable driver and car at at bargain prices especially for short trips. Emmy's to Swampy is 1021 baht, a very good price but not extraordinary. But the 30 baht minimum really works well for short hops such as New Bar to Delirious which is about 32 baht.

Rainy night in Jomtien. Generally stay tucked in at home rather than get wet waiting for a baht bus and not willing to pay for Grab possibly 2 ways. But Bolt is just 42 baht before tip door to door. So sitting here sucking on a cold Leo.

Bolt has launched in Pattaya and Bangkok. The price is significantly cheaper than Grab. There is a very low minimum. On their app it shows the fare from TJ's to Emmy's as only just 65 baht. If riding alone, I can't justify paying the Grab price but if it is raining cats and dogs I can see myself using Bolt occasionally. You can download from the Playstore or the Apple Store.

In the last two videos he looks at the Eunuch and the Suplamai. I'm not thrilled with towers and I'm not a big fan of the Eunuch's location but others may feel differently.
