I realized: That i might be slighting the persons spending hours upon hours making trip reports - this is in no way my intention. 555! - Maybe not for NatGeo...... would be better as a "gag reel" - have already had a 57KG GG with me at Bungsamran - and she had to quit halfway in the fight with a 25kg Mekong...... admitted - in Bungsamran it's a tug-of-war where the one with the most stamina wins....... She did brave a 22 kg Amazon redtail at IT though - no small feat by any measure. So - Famous outing to bungsamran. If i'm in the neighbourhood I'd LOVE to be there and watch the mayhem. I'll be betting on the girls getting worked out to the point of exhaustion and beyond....... The gear i use myself is 50 LBS Shimano Beastmaster boat rods coupled with Shimano TLD 15 reels - Gear too heavy for the cod fishing in europe....but just right in Bungsamran with a fight belt....... The brute force of these fish can not be exaggerated......

I am sorry if this subject has been discussed already, but being a fishing nut i'd like to add my 2 THB bangkok: Bungsamran: Giant Mekong, Siamese Carp - and Arapaima (if you can afford the ticket) A workout for sure - better than a gym. Being a meagre 73-78 Kilo man - I've battled - and braved - a 132 LB Mekong there....smaller specimens have made bigger men cry, witnessed and ridiculed ;-) - give it a go for the sport of it. Greater Bangkok: IT Lake monsters: in Ratchaburi: Desolate location - but you get the works; Barra, Alligator, Redtail, Tiger, Arapaima...like a tivoli........ Cha Am / Hua Hin: Cha Am fishing park: Go hunt for the Arapaima . i've gotten a 260 lbs there Greenfield: Pacu, Redtail, carps, arapaima .....you name it...rivals IT for species Jurassic: Giant Carps: can't be beaten for big carp Arapaima: are there and BIG - not easy though Mekongs: River monsters be in that lake: 90 kg and up

hmm..... i for one can't help chuckling a bit at how the mighty have fallen (when only financial damage has been done mind you!) I can certainly remember all the snide and judicial comments made at anybody and everybody about what they were doing wrong - and for me especially when my profession was attacked by this individual - and eventhough i made a sober response he did not care to answer - since he didn't have any arguments left, except prejudice..... I've dodged the bullet on this one - I went with a GG one night in BKK, didn't work out, she was wayyy too erratic and I sent her off. Next night she does the nipple trick on another customer in the bar - I saw him coming in the day after that complaining she stole from him (and got the story firsthand from him).... So apparently it still exists - but from what I can gather it'll be the girls stuck between a rock and a hard place employing these ways to get an extra income

This is a difficult nut to crack - I'd say the level I speak english to them corresponds to their ability to speak english. With some you'll have to "dumb it down" (No insult intended whatsoever) - with others you can go all out on elaborate english, dry humor and everything else you can think of. But basically I'd say that it all comes down to whatever level of english she's speaking - you simply adjust to that...go above - and risk a whole lot of misunderstandings, which are not worth it.....

Heh....only read the first page....but really love how the thread disintegrates as they tend to do more often than not on bigger forums. Bicker, drool and argue - they're pretty good at that...

This has been a really interesting read - Props goes out to all contributors, bar owners and punters alike. I'll just add my few thoughts too Salary vs FL: FL staff: Well....it's cheaper for the bar - but that's about the only positive aspect I can see Salaried staff: The bar has more control over the numbers of workers at any given time and have a good selection instead of a suddenly deserted bar without warning. Punters will get a little more security because of the girls involvement with a specific bar. Bar Fine: People travel halfway around the world to enjoy a good time with LBs - and piss and moan over a 300-500 THB bar fine (salaried staff mind you).....If that's what's ruining your budget...then you should've stayed home working a bit longer so you could have afforded that insurance and support of the bar... That little rant aside: There have been mentions of Hillary bar, a place i also like to go at times. One day i was inthere for quite a long time playing pool with my steady GG there and (on and off) 2 of her friends - being a longtime customer there they look after me pretty well and from time to time i, singlehandedly, rack up (when in the mood for going on the piss) quite a bill (up to 5K THB) for drinks and pool - that happened this day also, drinking and playing until they closed and the girls started going elsewhere, I had ofcourse BF'ed my steady GG and as we were on our way out she asked me if I wanted to go play more pool, I was going: "sure...you think X and Y want to come along and play also?" (they were on their way home or whereever already) - she asked and they went "sure" - and then things went pear-shaped..... the manager (whom I know really well) comes running and tells me I have to barfine X and Y also. I told her in no uncertain terms that I would not barfine girls from a bar which had already closed and that she should know I wasn't trying to pull a fast one when having already spent quite a substantial amount of cash inthere and being a repeat costumer. Nevertheless she stood her ground on the subject, keeping the girls in the bar while i went off with my GG. Edit: I noticed a need for clarification on above incident- The history is: When I go there I always barfine the same girl (being a creature of habit when it comes to GGs), have never taken others or more than her - a fact which did not go unnoticed by staff and manager alike. Therefore I felt that I was being treated unfairly and raised the issue again the following afternoon under 4 eyes with the manager - turns out there had been a crackdown within the Hillary group with emphasis on squeezing every baht possible out of every costumer on all staff levels and a way to rise to a higher position is ofcourse to make said position vacant........ end edit Pool table fee: With reference to abovementioned bar, then I've found that the challenge system at 20 baht/game seems to work really well there - winner stays - loser pays..... That should also give the tight-arsed people out there an incentive to play their best *G*
