  1. Well today the Prime Minister says they will get the 5k payments
  2. There are less drugdealers on the streets here in UK as police will spot them more easily. Those that are still operating from open spaces like parks are using personal protection equipment!
  3. Most crime in UK has also decreased over last four weeks, obviously because people are at home. But police are warning that drug shortages could lead to increased violent crime by desperate drug users and dealers.
  4. I didn't see any foreign rough sleepers in Jomtien this Jan/Feb or last year. I was told the police had cracked down on them.
  5. @blind boy gruntAre you feeling grumpy too?!
  6. Prime Minister says government cannot afford to continue to pay the 5k baht monthly
  7. I tell people I'm going to Thailand. If they ask where I say Jomtien a seaside resort, about 90 miles from Bangkok, which is true. They can imagine their own reasons for my trips, I'm not bothered. When I was working the guys I worked with assumed I was going for the women, many from my workplace did. One of the women I worked with assumed that every man who went to Thailand was a paedophile, but that's her problem and nobody else thought that.
  8. Even if that does happen, will it be worth opening if customers are few and far between?
  9. Pattaya's homeless who were sleeping on beach have been moved off and are now sleeping on Pattaya's sois. I don't know how this is supposed to prevent transmission of virus.
  10. You seem to be rather grumpy these days dc! Is it the heat or the lockdown? Or both! I just skip threads I'm not interested in, like sport.
  11. Not so good for foreigners who have already bought condos and might want to sell and leave los.
  12. Protest at Bangkok Ministry against non-payment of 5000 Baht (Khaosod news)
  13. My first trip to Pattaya was in 2008. I walked past Hi Boss in a torrential downpour, the only mad tourist walking down Soi 6. An attractive ladyboy came out to beckon me in, but having read the stories about Hi Boss I declined. I never did go into Hi Boss. My first visit into a lb bar was at Pook Swan. I walked up and down Soi Buakhow past it about six times before I plucked up the courage to go in. There are a couple of steps up to get into the bar, it felt like getting onto a stage. I thought everyone in the soi was going to stop and look at me going into a lb bar! Of course they didn't, and after the first time it was much easier.
  14. Loans available from Government Savings Bank for casual workers not eligible for Government loan scheme
  15. 32 ladyboys arrested after livestreaming
  16. I can't see that. Even if there is a vaccine developed quickly and the virus is brought under control. Millions of people in UK, Europe, US and elsewhere have lost their jobs and livelihoods, some perhaps temporarily others maybe long term or permanently. People will be reluctant or unable to spend money on holidays. I was in Goa a year after the 2004 tsunami and although it hadn't hit Goa there were very few tourists. It wasn't until 2006 that people felt it was safe to start returning.
