  1. Oh no! Where are you going to get your British grub from now bbg?!
  2. bb you might have to change this thread title to 'the Sophia and mostly Teya show'!
  3. Your pi friends don't seem to be too concerned about social distancing!
  4. Phuket beaches due to re-open tomorrow, 9 June.
  5. I don't think so. There aren't any emojis or emoticons in the original posts, or if there are they are at the end, not in the middle of script. I still think it is where there is a number in the Thai script.
  6. It's the fb translation tool. Teya and Emmy usually post in Thai, though Emmy sometimes posts in English. Facebook has a 'show translation' button under the original first post, and 'translate comment' button underneath comment posts, and if you click on it you get the English translation, or what the translation program thinks is the English translation.
  7. Yes, I thought it might be where there is a number in the original Thai post and fb translation program can't recognise and translate it.
  8. OK, could be. Maybe setting target for bike ride. Could also be betting on it - ie her reference to bookies.. Do they have bookies in Thailand? I know they like gambling. I wouldn't have thought Teya was interested in cycling, except for riding your bike up and down Soi 4.
  9. Recent pic of Sunny from her fb page. She is still obsessed about her weight.
  10. Teya would be too incomprehensible even for the Pattaya Mail! (But she does probably know Nid) Here's an example of her posts, any idea what it means?
  11. Well Emmy is easy enough to understand. Which is quite an achievement considering she didn't speak any English before taking on Katty Bar. Teya's spoken English is quite good. But her facebook posts are often incomprehensible, though that might be due to the translation from Thai. What does 'cuddle' mean? It seems to come up quite a lot in fb posts. I don't know if it is a mis-translation.

    Coronavirus

Well that remains to be seen. The UK government seems to be counting on herd immunity now. Johnson did think that back in January/February when fears about a pandemic started after realising what was happening in Wuhan. He was saying that the UK would beat the virus because of British superiority - he was going on at a conference about how Brits were like Clark Kent coming out of a phone box as Superman, and boasting about shaking hands in a hospital. Then over the course of a weekend he did a U turn and called a lockdown. His previous boasts were somewhat undermined when he caught the virus. Now he seems to be under pressure from Conservative MPs and big business to re-open the economy. Herd immunity might work, it might not. We will have to wait to see. The UK's Government strategy now is that there might be regional lockdowns in areas where the rate of infection rises above R1. In the UK, according to polls anyway, the majority think Johnson is not to be trusted and the Government strategy is wrong. Most people are still staying indoors, but more will have to return to work from June 15. It will take 2-3 weeks before we see if the infection and death rate rises as a result.

    Coronavirus

I know JSG can't read my posts so I wasn't going to reply to his post which was just personal abuse, rather than an intelligent reply. But I think I should explain why I posted about coronavirus in Sweden and Iran, in a thread about coronavirus (although the clue is in the title). The post about Sweden was in reply to Seven's post, part of an ongoing discussion about Sweden's response to the virus. Iran was one of the first countries to get the virus with one of the highest infection and death rates. They did control it with a lockdown, but are now experiencing what seems to be a second wave after loosening the lockdown. It is relevant to other countries which are now loosening lockdowns. Coronavirus is a pandemic. It is likely to behave in the same way regardless of countries' borders. Frontline medical professionals and scientists in the UK are voicing concerns that there will be a second wave here, and that it is too early to ease lockdown . Sir Jeremy Farrar, one of the UK Government's SAGE scientific advisers, is saying today that the UK should look at Texas, where cases are increasing after easing of lockdown. I won't put a link to that as it seems to upset some people!

If their figures are to be believed Timor seems to be doing well so far. Only 24 cases and no deaths recorded.

    Coronavirus

I know the article quoted him at the end. But the only way I could avoid that would be to post the article, cutting out the last bit. btw I see Tegnell held a news conference yesterday clarifying some of the points in the interview.
