  1. And what a discovery ! One of my all time favourites until this very day , thanks for introducing me the cheques still in the post ....the service has been terrible since they privatized it . I've a nice one or two up my sleeve but they are off the game with jealous European steely eyed sponsors or I'll keep stum M'laud
  2. As with all insurance policies they are always trying to wriggle out of their obligations anyway they can . If you read the small print in almost any policy (certainly anyone I've had ) they stipulate you are not covered in the event of political unrest in the country you are visiting and I'm sure a military coup would more than suffice . Whether that means you are not covered in any instance or just not covered in instances relating to the unrest I'm not sure and I wouldn't like to test it . I was actually flying on the same day that all hell broke loose in Bangkok back in May 2010 and received a call from my booking agent (Trailfinders) offering me a full refund if I didn't want to travel , the girl on the phone seemed quite surprised when I told her I was used to this now and would travel anyway . She did remind me though that my insurance would be null and void and I was travelling at my own risk . Imagine getting run over by a drunken motorbike taxi driver on Beach Road , if he was wearing a red or yellow t shirt I could see the travel insurance company calling it a political act
  3. If they ever try to knock down PBG we will chain ourselves to the pier . Piggdog can chuck the meatloaf at the digger driver it would knock anyone out .
  4. Yes I'm a purist when it comes to northern soul probably a fanatic . When it comes to ladyboys I like all styles even a big ugly one once in a while .

    Obituaries

Cheers Sam . Yeh he had a great talent but a very tough life . I read in one of his obituaries that he fell out with Ray Charles when they were on brother Rays private jet and he couldn't find him , the story goes that he went into the cockpit and found Ray Charles flying the plane . Wether its true or not it sure is a good story .

    Obituaries

I take it this obituary column is not just for cowboys ? One of my hero's who died earlier this month - the great Bobby Womack .
  8. Very true . When a Thai person calls you they usually ask "you eat already?" Like many here I've grown to love Thai food and its now my favourite cuisine , its funny how things you like before become almost bland after tasting Thai cooking . I remember talking to a Thai person about foreign food and why she didn't like it and she replied that it had no taste or flavour .
  9. Dongtan Beach is great . When I was there in May no one was floating around - no mincers no Russians no one . My favourite place to relax .
  10. Hear hear ! And with lovely Bow there too
  11. I've taken quite a few freelancers and a fair few of them have trod that famous sunset boulevard . Never had any issues and in fact I've met a few regulars from there . The difference is I get their numbers and meet them late afternoon/early evening because that's when I'm feeling frisky so hence I'm sober and they are out of their normal environment giving less chance to anything going wrong .
  12. I remember one of my favourite local bands The Undertones saying that the Ramones first album inspired them to play . You can hear the same structure in their tunes - punk riff's with catchy poppy vocals
  13. What a band ! No Ramones + No Stooges would have = no punk rock .
  14. I get that most days in Thailand usually accompanied with a laugh or a punch on the arm . I can't help it I'm Irish .
  15. What a scene and what a movie! To be honest it unfortunately goes with the territory , much as we love Thailand for various reason ahem ahem ... customer service sure ain't gonna make the top 100 .. As a side note I've just returned from Bumblebee's wedding shindig ......every time I tried to speak I was handed another tin of cider or a chicken wing ....... the customer wasn't complaining there
  16. Josh must have had a crystal ball ........ 0-0 after extra time
  17. Either as long as they are sitting on my bell end
  18. Like my learned friends I love the Kinks also , Ray Davies is one of the greatest songwriters I've heard I love the unique way his lyrics can tell a story and conjure up images of places . I first heard this when I was a kid my mum and dad had the single at home and when I hear it now on the radio it still sends shivers down my spine with the guitar riff from the opening bars ...real beautiful , always in my top ten .
  19. Ha ha she must be a right old age now but you know the old saying - many's a fine tune played on an old fiddle . A pic from my one and only visit to Chang Mai in 2007 ... must go back again some day .
  20. A bit of R&B ....where it all began http://youtu.be/TKy0pcnJocw
  21. The Wicker Man . The life of Brian .
  22. Hope it all goes well and she gets a good turn out . Lita is always very generous with food and drinks in her bars , I didn't get as much of a chance to get to Lita's Bar last trip as I'd have liked thanks to the very sensible idea of having a curfew .
  23. If it was a bar I liked there's no way one ladyboy would put me off unless she had done something really bad . Just to pose as devils advocate anyone ever been put off going to a bar because a certain BM drank there ?
  24. Eve is a total sweetheart , well worth meeting
