In spite of the heavy rain, more than a thousand spectators still came in to witness the event. thaibound Posted October 28, 2012 Share Posted October 28, 2012 thanks for all the updates here. i'm trying to get to cebu by nov 9 but it's looking unlikely. meantime, i have to ask-- i tried to figure it out for myself but i couldn't-- can someone explain the international banners on the contestants? aren't all (most?) of the girls from the PH if not right there from Cebu? do they represent sponsorships? ancestry? an ersatz internationalism? what am i missing? sorry. and thanks. The country they represent with the sashes - is a feature of many Asian lb contests, Malaysia, Cambodia - but strangely Thai contests do not follow this theme. The assignments I think are by the luck of the draw. The reason why they do this - I am not sure, but possibly to bring some more excitement as crowds cheer for their favourites. As of 2011 girls from all over the phillippines can take part in the pageant... As of 2012 the girls that take part my use hormoons and my have undergone any operation , that was before not possible to participate... The girls will get there country name after the final screening toke place and that will be also the country that she have to represent during the pageant with the local costums that match that country during the parade of nations and fun wear. This year Cary Santiago took the cloting design to a much higher level , all new and old talent fashion designers from all over the phillippines could have sign there name to take part in the selection For the fun wear he choose only new talent to take part , while the evening gown design went to the already famouse fashion designers from all over the place. This is the fourth year of the pageant, so more or less the organizers already know what to do. The people behind the pageant are connoisseurs of beauty and elan; Cary Santiago is being the president and supported by Madam Amparito Lhuiller, Tessa Prieto-Valdez and other high people in the society. For this year's theme, they showcase Cebu as a Festival Island and features various festivals like the Palawod Festival of Bantayan, Kabkaban Festival of Carcar City, Rosquillos Festival of Liloan and the Sinulog Festival for the Opening Number.
