Been traying to get a foot in to this organization to do some more extensive covers but until now no luck , think i need to flash more cash or something in that nature to get there fucking attention.... It looks like it is always in the first two weeks of November, but I would like to know the exact date, and can't seem to find it on the facebook page for the event. If anybody has any contacts and could give me a heads up that would help me alot. I am trying to schedule my next trip and was thinking of doing a Thailand/Philippines round robin with the center piece being this pageant. Thanks for any helpful info. Cheers, Randi. Part of the duties of the crowned Queen includes philanthropic works to the pageant’s chosen beneficiaries. Candidates are asked to create a realistic plan of action for a chosen cause. It is one of considerations in the pre-judging of Queen as it will show the importance of being beautiful inside and out. This year’s beneficiaries are yet to be announced. The chairman for Queen of Cebu 2012 is designer Cary Santiago. He has been very active with Queen since its inception in 2009. It is co-chaired by interior designer/socialite Tessa Prieto-Valdez. Because she was so impressed with the coronation night production of Queen of Cebu 2011, Valdez pledged to support this year’s beneficiaries. Philanthropist Bea Zobel de Ayala has also pledged her support. This year’s pageant is more special as it has been registered to the Securities and Exchange Commission. His exceptional talent has made him one of the most famous Cebuanos in high-fashion circles. Cary Santiago began his career by designing for a Beirut haute couture house, and he was based in Dubai for about a decade. He also trained in Paris. He describes his design style as one of classic, glamorous, and romantic silhouettes with subtly opulent details. Cary incorporates this style into the bridal wear that he has become famous for designing. He also designed a line of fabulous shoes for the Maldita brand. Cary won the 2004 grand prize of the Philippine Fashion Design Competition with a terno inspired by Pag-asa the Philippine eagle. The terno was made up of thousands of pieces of jusi, which were mounted on actual quills so that they would look like eagle feathers. In November 2010, he was chosen as a contestant for the Outstanding International Fashion Designer Award category of the China Fashion Awards. He traveled to Shanghai to oversee the showcase of his designs and took home the award for which he was nominated. Not one who is content to just rest on his laurels, Cary Santiago is a mentor to young designer John Herrera, who is gaining fame in his own right. Working from an atelier located at 176 Juana Osmeña Street in Cebu City, Cary Santiago designs his opulent creations for the adornment of some very fortunate women.
