  1. You guys are killing me. I gotta get Bangkok lifted from my girlfriend's "No Fly Zone" ordinance!
  2. Hard to believe 8inches. Every time I've ever walked in there I'm mobbed. Do you perhaps have a history with the bar and/or the girls?
  3. Yikes! I'd think a 7th floor fall would usually be fatal, or am I wrong?
  4. Great advice. And thanks again for the guys that spent so much of their time and energy trying to deal with this tragic situation. I can only hope I've got a few friends that would do half as much for me if the situation arose. Before leaving for an international trip, I usually update my "emergency document" list, which I then laminate (lol!) with some big wide pieces of clear packaging tape so that it's protected from water damage. I then secrete this in my travel bag and in my backpack that I carry with me. The information includes: 1. Passport photos 2. Emergency contacts 3. Copies of health and other pertinent insurance cards 4. Emergency phone numbers for my various credit cards, with last 4 digits & expiration dates In the past, my reason for making this before each trip was in case my wallet was stolen (so I can easily cancel the stolen or lost credit cards and access insurance info if needed) but Etgohom's sad case makes it even more important that I do this in the future.
  5. FANTASTIC post, thank you very much for sharing your research. I've been living with a trans woman here in the USA for 2 years. When she first told her family she was transitioning, her older brother (who she is very close with) got upset and told her "Why couldn't you just stay gay!". He was very upset and disappointed. Although they quickly reconciled, it's still something that I know bothers her today, as she has always loathed disappointing anyone, especially those she is closest to. I think she was actually relatively lucky compared to the reaction most trans people face from family and friends when they begin to transition. I believe part of the reason we are together is more than just simply "love" - although we both profess to love each other, I am 54 while she is 24. How often have you ever seen a cisgender couple in such a lopsided relationship? I've always believed that much of the reason I've been so lucky is that trans women don't have the same relationship opportunities as a cisgender... to find a stable loving cisgender partner she had to find a guy that was old enough (and financially set enough) that he didn't really have the same worries and concerns about being "found out" as most cisgender guys would upon considering a relationship with a trans woman. I'm also relatively lucky in that Lexy was extremely "passable". Not sure about the term "stealth" that you used, I've never heard Lexy use that term. For her, it's all about being passable, and not getting "clocked", IE: recognized as being trans. I've not had to deal with the trauma/drama of having to "come out" to friends and family about my love for a trans woman. I'm sure a few must suspect, but they either have the common sense and courtesy not to ask, or they realize it's not important. Once again, thank you so much for posting this. I hope this begins a dialog amongst the membership.
  6. I'm not sure if Sonya is happy now, but I can tell you I am! Great pictures. Thanks for posting, hope you'll continue to update us here.
  7. KTM = Katmandu? Ahhhh, I get it.... you're smuggling hash. Am I getting warm? Actually, that sounds great. Have a safe trip.
  8. Had a hankering for some Doner Kebab at 20,000 feet Sam? Otherwise not sure what would spur such an, um.... "exotic" itinerary. Are you also traveling part of the way on a donkey or in a barrel? That would really make this interesting!
  9. I guess the silver lining for you Sam is that if you want to leave BKK to go to one of the nations from which you are blacklisted, you might be able to get away with it.
  10. Surprised no one has posted updates or images of the new Sensations Manor... from what I've read and seen this looks like it could become THE powerhouse bar on the Pattaya scene.
  11. I don't think I would. Current girlfriend is 24; I'm 54. I kinda like things this way!
  12. "Bikie"? Haven't heard that term used in reference to bikers before. Must be an Australian thing.
  13. Dixon, you are killing me. Just checking with the airline on whether my next flight to Tokyo in September could include a 2 or 3 day layover in BKK.
  14. Ahhhhhh..... Haven't dared to read here lately as my next 12 months are already committed to Tokyo, NYC and Fiji/Australia trips, and I didn't want to torture myself by seeing that which cannot be had. Dave, the picture of Sandy and Num will haunt me for weeks now! Hope all is well boys!
  15. One word for everyone: Alaska P.S. - happy belated birthday Xyzzy
  16. Thanks for posting Swedeman. I've got to say that some of those boob jobs look like they should be in a portfolio of a medical malpractice attorney. You can sure see the difference that a a few thousand baht makes when you look at girl 2nd on left compared to virtually all the others. Mind you, it wouldn't stop me from taking any of them. (Once). But good god, if you're spending money to enhance something that you'll be sporting for the next 10+ years, take your time and save a few thousand additional baht for the Bangkok specialist rather than the drive-thru surgery window!
  17. Sad to hear that Darkside might be no more... I got to meet Chris a few years back and loved the establishment and it's laid-back vibe. The girls were great, the prices right, and the music even better. I know Chris has struggled with his health for some time now, hopefully if this venue does close there will be a silver-lining positive impact on his health. That's the only positive I can find in this.
  18. Cool! I've been using a new strategy to acquire Frequent Flyer Miles and have picked up something like 8 new credit cards in the past year in order to earn FF Miles - take their "introductory offer", spend the minimum needed to earn the introductory bonus miles, then get a new card and start again. Using this strategy, I've booked first class roundtrip airfare over the next 8 months from Seattle to Tokyo, Seattle to Fiji, Fiji to Sydney, Sydney to Hong Kong to LA and back to Seattle, and Seattle to NYC. Sorry, not really related to the thread....
  19. Interesting that both movies and music "were so much better when I was young". I remember reading something about brain research that supported the idea that we connect with music (and probably film) on a deeper level in our adolescent, teen and early adult years due to brain chemistry and hormones. Thus there is an actual physiological reason behind this belief (harbored by pretty much everyone everywhere) that "it was so much better back in the day". I try to avoid that trap by remembering how my parents and grandparents sounded when they bitched about the music I listened to and how it couldn't hold a candle to the "real" stuff they listened to in their youth (and continued listening to the rest of their lives).
