  1. I agree, Ceteris paribus, friendly service trumps neutral service which trumps passive aggressive behavior which trumps in your face hostility at most venues. But friendly service is more important at some businesses than other, for example it's more important at a restaurant than a convenience store. But I will give another unusual example.. I avoided a convenience store where a mate's girlfriend used to work so as not to embarrass her because of my behavior. Instead of letting it slide, I usually question the wrong change or question the register coming up with a price different than the listed price even though culturally we farang are just supposed to smile and move on. Also most convenience stores usually place the freshest milk behind the oldest milk in the cooler. I only use milk for my coffee and older milk often spoils in my fridge so I take the freshest milk possible. So it's just easier not to put a mate's girlfriend in a position where she might be embarrassed by her association with me. Just had a tooth pulled today but never question the dentist's price though.
  2. Good to know that one can call into New Bar for a good lay!
  3. Thanks for the update. My info is a year old.
  4. It's a takeoff on Jack Daniels. It is on Soi Buakhao a little bit north of Soi Pothole on theright side headed north. It's another bar with a short time room that you could live in.
  5. Good to see that you're catering to your clientele. I'm not a craft beer guy but it drives me nuts when bars don't offer San Mig Zero 3% ABV. I seem to encounter this mostly in Thai owned bars. In 7/11 it's actually cheaper than a Leo but farang bars generally charge the same as San Mig Lite. I guess it doesn't make sense to some barowners that some farang would rather be less drunk for the same money.
  6. I'll give another example of a bar that I somewhat avoid. It's not a ladyboy bar or evn a hostess bar but rather a sports bar/restaurant with about 5 TVs that can be programed separately. Twice the same waitresses showed her displeasure when I asked her to change the channel on one of the TVs. She changed it but with an attitude. Perhaps I could have more polite; I dunno. But the bottom line is I don't particularly want to be around that waitress and I have other good breakfast options and can watch NFL replays on my laptop. If friends want to go to that joint I'll join them but I no longer go alone to watch football. I think often bar avoidance is not "I'll show them and take away my business" but rater I don't feel as comfortable as I'd like in a particular venue.
  7. Sounds good for both the girls and mongers. If I am reading this and another comment correctly, girls can show up whenever they want or even not show up at all. If a girl wants to go to Koh Samet for a week with a customer management doesn't frown upon either the customer or the bar. In days before smartphones bars were more authoritarian. The times now are achanging. Seems like a smart move to welcome friendly girls who fit with the vibe of the bar and give them a place to hangout, feel at home and grab some grub.
  8. The ladyboy who used to work at Bon Bar is Fang but now works at Delirious. Extremely beautiful in my opinion. YMMV. She is not the one I described in my original post as a sweetheart. In that case by sweetheart I meant a very likeable no-drama ladyboy. The whole point of my original post is that a bar can do everything right but despite that there could be reasons whu individual mongers might stay away. I think guys like or dislike bars for a variety of reasons. But there are reasosn why a guy might avoid a bar that he otherwise likes. Generally it is because a guy may feel uncomfortable because of a staff member. Perhaps a ladyboy who he guy has been with before is cockblocking him from other ladyboys. That's just one example. If staff members send out a chilly vibe when previously they were warm, that is another reason to avoid a bar. Guys want to spend their time and money in a no-drama atmosphere. Of course a guy also avoids a bar which he doesn't like in the first place.
  9. Friends tell me that you could live in Jie Jie Bar's 400 baht ST room so that might fit the bill for you.
  10. I agree 100% with all of the above. I thought I was the only guy to use Lengkee or Xcyte to avoid the gauntlet. A great bar with the accent on meeting ladyboys. It's not the type of bar you go to if you want to meet up with your mates. That makes it more private and discreet than the more high profile bars. Might not matter to many guys but appreciated by others. Not sure if there is a ladyboy bar with cheaper ladydrink prices. A friend tells me that the combined short time barfine/room is 300 baht which is nice.
  11. Lady Gaga singing God Bless America
  12. IMO Jie Jie Bar wins hands down over Bon Bar. Jie Jie has more ladyboys, more attractive ladyboys, a more spacious feel, and better speakers. One of Bon Bon's former prettiest part time ladyboys is now at Delirious. Nothing wrong with Bon Bon but it wouldn't get my vote as the very best bar in Thailand.
  13. I would rate her as the prettiest at the bar. Hopefully she will resurface somewhere. Great job with the update Dan!
  14. Because it's not a Name and Shame situation. It's a very good bar and I don't want people to somehow think it should be avoided. My point is that a bar can do everything right and some customers will avoid it for unforseen reasons. I mean a barowner might correctly think that he better not hire nasty ladyboys but who would think that hiring a sweetheart would keep a customer away?
  15. Although this could be construed as competition for Cindy's, I think this will help Cindy's. With so many bars on the even side of Sukhumvit sometimes it's just easier to stay on one side. If one does venture to Soi 11 it would make sense to visit both bars.
  16. I guess there are certain bars that a guy might avoid. There is one bar I avoid even though it is a nice enough, with nice enough staff, and with reasonable prices. One of the nicest ladyboys in Pattaya works there. Which is precisely why I avoid this bar. Because it has one very pleasant ladyboy that I've kn0wn for years. I always smile when I go by and might even exchange quick chit chat. The problem is that she's one of the few ladyboys in town that my missus knows because we used to live on the same soi. So even if a bar does everything right such as hiring a very pleasant ladyboy who guys speak highly of I avoid it. Not easy for bar owners!
  17. The Boss does a 3 song acoustic set in Atlanta last night. Not the best audio quality though.
  18. Rose of Blackpink & Bruno Mars released a new tune. I know it's not the style of most LBR members but it's a catchy tune which sounds a bit like Hey Mickey.
  19. I generally avoid bar parties since I don't need to eat at a bar. But I stumbled upon a Check In party the last time I was in Bangkok and the sushi was the best food I ever had at a bar party. Fresh and delicious as bar staff should be!
  20. Good news! Suggest that he get there when Immigration opens as it can be crowded after a 3 day weekend. Hope he has a TM 30, that has to do with his lodging. The hotel/guesthouse should do it but sometimes they don't. Just something to be aware of.
