  1. This would be an appropriate name for the Biergarten in Bangkok. Name that shot!
  2. Two good quotes from the fourth video. “More Communist, More Conservative”. Right wing pundits wouldn’t usually equate communism with conservatism! Steady Eddy likes his massages to feature penetration so he says, “If I want just a happy ending, I’ll go to a movie”.
  3. Her name was Kui as I recall. Think it was you, me, Stogie and our dates at the Flamingo on Soi Day Night. Yes,I am sure a titless but well hung uni girl in uniform will raise your Union Jack to full mast quicker than a hard Brexit!
  4. My card has a $500 limit and they won't increase it. I asked for $1000 to save them money since they are rebating ATM fees. A phone rep told me that the limit is really $510 though. I guess at home people like to take out a nice round number and perhaps the extra 10 bucks is for the ATM fee although it eventually gets rebated. I don't use 1000 baht notes when going out. To eliminate confusion, I just carry 500s, 100s, and 20s. I'm a little bit color blind and sometimes the 50s look like 20s.
  5. Cheap Charlie's has an outstanding value for money chicken dinner. Just 99 baht! I'm stuffed. Tasty. Proper name brand condiments on he table such as Heinz Ketchup, French's Mustard, Sarson Malt Vinegar, H&P Steak Sauce etc. I was eating alone and if not socializing prefer not to drink but a bottle of San Mig Lite is only 49 baht. Comfortable chairs. Pick a table that has a fan in the right position. They have a different special every day and I believe the specials change monthly. If you get a discount card (199 baht) then all the specials are just 99 baht even the expensive ones. But I don't like having a big farang meal all that often so am content to forego the card and just have the chicken when I go there. It's on Soi Buakhao just slightly south of Soi Diana. You can't miss it; a black and white motif with lots of Charlie Chaplin. The biggest downside is after eating a meal like that, I'm in no mood to go out; just want to go home and relax.
  6. I moved a post that I wrote in another thread to this thread. Thought it might be a good spot for guys to pass on their words of wisdom.
  7. Ahhh, she was mentioning something about the prior night as you describe but thought something was lost in translation since I've never seen stuff like that happening there. I guess I gotta get out more!
  8. Dukey, I remember you bringing her down to Pattaya many, many moons ago. She said."My name is Wise because I am very clever"! Time flies mate!

    Airline News

A foreigner opened the emergency exit of an airplane that was flying from Chiang Mai to Bangkok on 6 November 2019. The Thai Smile Airline reported about the incident on 7 November 2019 after the flight was delayed for hours from the original departure plan. Security officers had to drag him off the airplane and perform security checks while all the passengers had to wait, just from the man’s reckless actions. The Airline reported that the flight was WE169 belonged to Thai Smile Airlines flying from Chiang Mai International Airport to Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok. The original departure time was at 15.40, but then the incident happened. After all the passengers boarded the plane the doors were closed and the plane was in preparation for take-off. Suddenly a foreigner passenger ran out of his seat and opened the emergency exit located on the left of the place. The emergency exit sprung open and the escape slide fell open. The captain stopped the plane right away before notifying the airport officials including security officers of what just happened on board. The foreigner was removed from the plane as a safety precaution so that the incident won’t repeat itself.
  10. Welcome aboard BBG! It was strange in there last night. At one point it was just us and Teya. Then she called for reinforcements and Emmy stumbled downstairs looking sleepy. IMO the bar would be very different without Teya. Her vibe sets the tone for the joint making it a relaxing venue for a few brewskis and shooting the shit. Teya was saying that maybe she would make whoopee on the pool table at her party. Perhaps she'll do for pool tables what Michelle Pfeiffer did for pianos!
  11. You can find old Sensations info in these two threads but they have not been updated in awhile.
  12. It could just be a miracle, but the Catholic church is investigating how two nuns became pregnant while on separate missionary trips in Africa. The two women, who belonged to different orders in Sicily, Italy, both became pregnant while visiting their home countries, according to the Italian outlet ASNA. One woman, a mother superior, discovered her pregnancy while working with “fallen women and their children” and left Italy for her home country of Madagascar, the ASNA report said. The second woman complained of stomach pains upon her return to Italy and discovered via an ultrasound that she, too, was pregnant, according to the ASNA report. Both women are unsurprisingly expected to leave the order to raise their children. The church announced that the investigation would prioritize the welfare of the children over the nuns’ violation of chastity vows. Earlier this year, Pope Francis spoke about widespread abuse in the Catholic church, including sexual abuse of nuns by male members of the clergy, calling it a “serious, grave problem.”
  13. Yesterday, both Super T (the gallery/antique store) and the two TT Exchanges across the road had the exact same rate. One of the TTs is a smallish place on the corner of Soi Diamond. If you head towards Soi VC from SoiDiamond you will see another one. If you see Bangkok Bank you've walked too far. A third TT also had the same rate. This one is more or less across the road from Boyztown and has an inside office besides the window facing the street. I asked if I exchange big money could I get a better rate. They said, "how big and which currency" I replied, "USD 5000" and they were willing to up it an extra satang. But I asked at an odd time minutes before the big BOT rate cut announcement so maybe they were hot to give me an artificially low rate. At any rate checking both Super T and TT Exchange is probably one's best bet in Pattaya. Of course there may be some other small shops with a competitive rate such as Stoolie's place. Many places disguise themselves in Black and Yellow with names similar to TT trying to confuse the drunk or hungover.
  14. Danica Roem was re-elected in Virginia. She used to be in the metal band Cab Ride Home.
  15. The path of least resistance is to open up a Thai bank account or Time Deposit (CD) paying higher interest than a regular savings account. I think a great choice is the Krungsri ( Bank of Ayudhaya) Mee Tae Dai account which currently yields 1.3% but will probably go down after today's Bank of Thailand's rate cut. Mee Tae Dai is not designed to be an everyday savings account. You can only withdraw (or transfer out online) twice a month without incurring a fee. So I withdraw once a month moving spending money to my everyday account which is linked to my debit card. I prefer this flexibilty to slightly higher Time Deposit account. There are some ETFs which might somewhat suit your needs. There is an American ETF with 100% exposure to Thai stocks, iShares Thailand ETF. The ticker symbol is THD. Their 10 largest holdings are below. If you want a pure currency play there is the Wisdom Tree Emerging Currency Strategy ETF. The ticker symbol is CEW. Both of the above ETFs have a decent expense ratio but the Cheap Charlie I am prefers extraordinary to decent. So I recommend to a friend who wanted some Southeast Asian exposure to invest in the Fidelity Emerging Markets Index Fund. This is a stock fund. Ticker is FPADX. But the fund has too much Hong Kong exposure for my taste and will recommend that he trim his holdings or perhaps dump it completely. Bottom Line: The most straightforward approach is a Mee Tae Dai account at Krungsri (Ayudhaya). Thailand has a program similar to FDIC which covers you in case of bank failure with a limit of 1 million baht starting August 2020 (5 million before). I believe this is per bank and not per account. I reckon that there is a perception that Thai guarantees are not as ironclad as those in Falangland. If all the banks failed at once perhaps it could be problematic, I dunno, but I suppose that could happen in the West too. I feel it's safe enough.
  16. Bart Allen Helmus, 39, and his Thai wife Sirinapha Wisetrit, 41, were surrounded by police near the Cambodian border today and taken to hospital in a police truck. Helmus was found unresponsive but alive with a head wound from a handgun, while his wife was also injured but conscious. A third prisoner who escaped with them, Noi Ton Nintet, 41, was captured in a nearby field in his underpants. (from Tel's article)
  17. The BOT cut interest rates today. This caused the baht to weaken 5 satang per dollar. I was walking by a couple TT exchanges an hour ago and the rate was 30.18 and now it's 30.23.
  18. The woman has been apprehended 20 kilometers from the Cambodian border. The men are still at large. There is a 50.000 baht reward for info leading to the capture of the men.
  19. JAILBREAK Three prisoners, including an American citizen, have escaped from the Pattaya Courthouse and are now, as of Tuesday morning, on the loose. A police officer was stabbed in the melee. Pattaya police learned of the incident at 3:30pm at a holding cell at the Pattaya City Provincial Court. Police and emergency responders arrived to find a police captain injured from a stab wound. He was rushed to a local hospital. A court security guard says the prisoners had been in a holding cell. He says he heard the sound of fighting followed up by a gunshot. One of prisoners had fired at officers. It’s unclear how the weapon found its way into the court precinct. The three prisoners, still in chains, commandeered a bronze Izuzu pickup truck waiting in front of the court, and sped away with an unknown accomplice . The three prisoners are a Thai man, ‘Noi Ton Nintet’ who’s charged with illegal possession of methamphetamine and ecstasy pills, and “ice,” (crystal methamphetamine). Reports say he attacked police and opened fire in front of the courthouse. The other two are an American man, 39 year old Bart Allen Helmus, and his Thai wife Sirinapa Wisetrit, who are charged with illegal possession of drugs and a gun. All three are considered extremely dangerous and police have set up roadblocks and patrols to catch them. The above fugitives are on the run. It's suspected that they're headed for the Cambodian border. Don't think they will be filing a TM30. Below captured live on CCTV:

  22. When is Loy Krathong celebrated this year in Pattaya? I've been hearing November 11th. But the full moon is on November 12th. And 69 Bar is having a Loy Krathong contest on November 13th.
  23. Looks interesting! Straight mate had great sex upstairs in the 555 short time room. Being new to Thailand he thought it was odd that some guy was getting a BJ at the bar. I don't think that normally happens at 555 though.
  24. Changing Baht to USD (1 dollar bills): The best rate will be at Super Rich Thailand's main branch. The second nest rate will be at either Super Rich Thailand or Value Plus at the Rail Link in Swampy's basement. Super Rich's is stated hours at the Rail Link are from 6:00 to 23:00 and Value Plus from 6:00 to 23:50 but I wouldn't cut it too close. You will get very bad rates at Vasu and TT in Pattaya when changing baht to dollars. At SIA in Bangkok you will get a bad rate for 1's but an acceptable rate if for some reason you need 100's. There might be certain situations where you wouldn't want to carry singles. Maybe because it's too bulky. Maybe you think a certain businesses might be annoyed if you pay a big bill with singles. The middle ground is then to exchange baht to USD 20 dollar bills. Best rate again is Super Rich Thailand's main branch with their branch at the Rail Link and Value Plus offering an OK rate. ================================================================================= Bottom Line: There is usually no better place to do any USD currency transaction than at Super Rich Thailand's main branch (not open evenings or Sundays). If that is inconvenient changing dollars to baht is just fine at Vasu in Bangkok (not open evenings or Sundays) or at TT Exchange in Pattaya. If you need to change dollars to baht at Swampy do so at Super Rich Thailand or Value Plus at the Rail Link but don't change too much if you will have access to a better place the following day. Changing baht to dollars is fine at these two places at the Rail Link if getting to the main branch is too inconvenient. If you are arriving from the USA bring 100 dollar bills as new as possible.
