  1. My answer -guess- would be no, Chase/JPM is out to sell credit cards and collect the 3% vig on every transaction :) This is a good site for guys interested in churning credit cards and flying for free. www.milevalue.com Mods, I in no way benefit from this site. Just a heads up for fellow BMs. Hope its OK to include an address, but if not, no problema :)
  2. Executive Summary: A young guy is bored back in the UK, so his buddy treats him to a Pattaya trip to perk him up. The idea works a little too well, the guy returns home, resigns from his job and moves to Thailand. After three weeks of pounding the pavement looking for work, he is disillusioned and no longer infatuated by the place. Watch the movie and decide for yourself :)
  3. Ladyboys/GGs already have 'Male Tracking Devices' (MTD) Its your mobile phone :)
  4. I voted 'Other' My first trips to Thailand I couldn't get enough of the Go-Gos and beer bars, both LB and GG establishments. After living here, the novelty quickly wore off. Too much bull shit and drama; been there and done that. Now when I go to the bars, its to ogle the eye candy and/or meet up with buddies. Yesterday I walked past Fantasy Lounge on Soi Buakao at 10 am and almost got dragged into the bar. I'm not getting any more handsome, so the girls must really be hurting for customers :) OT but I was perched at Nikon Court beer hall (for lack of a better description) on Soi Buakao last night and even at 2am, I didn't see one freelancer
  5. I got the 30k offer about three years ago. United offered another card with a sign up bonus of 40k plus 5k for another card for a member of your family. Churning credit cards for the sign up bonus is a great way to fly to LOS for free. More money for beer and STs :)
  6. Thanks BB. My bad, I didn't research the forum thoroughly.
  7. This is what I have done for the past 10 years, go to the US embassy and get a "Verification of Income' letter. As I understand, Aussies can do this as well and perhaps the Brits (Don't quote me but I think the Brits may have to provide financial documentation to their Embassy.) After 10+ years in Thailand I'm returning to the USA and will probably set up a home base there. For younger guys, spending two or three months in a country, then moving on is a very doable plan. I saw many expats set them selves up in East Pattaya or Chiang Mai, 'buy' a house, car and make Thailand their new home. That's all well and good, but IMHO, your posessions are your jailer. Do you control your stuff or does it control you? My first five years in Thailand, I didn't own a motorbike. My next five years I owned four and had a blast exploring different areas of the country. Now I'm bike free again and its liberating in a perverse sort of way, in that I can stay in any hotel I want and not have to consider secure parking for my bike, I can sky up at a moments notice and live in a new country when it strikes my fancy. In general, my advice is to stay for a few months in several locations and see where you like best. Some guys like to put down roots, others 'No Where for Very Long...' YMMV :) OP, all the best to you and let us know how it works out.
  8. My old dentist on Soi Buakao has closed up shop. Before I 'pivot' back to the USA, I need to have some fillings replaced and maybe a crown. Any one have some Pattaya dentist recommendations? Thanks! (Mods, feel free to move this to the most correct forum)
  9. Goodness gracious she is one helluva beautiful girl. So lovely. So strikingly stunning. Takes my breath away. I had the good fortune of being in her company a number of times. She never ever said hello. Just ignored me like I was some old, fat, bald, short, and ugly guy. Then I looked in the mirror and be damned if she wasn't right. However I'd imagine your cash is 'handsome' Bar girls are a law unto themselves....
  10. I'll be heading there soon :) Interesting how some bars have loads of freelancing LBs hanging out at their bars. Take one and the bar expects a bar fine. I'm not saying I'd never pay a BF, but I do like these non BF free lancer joints :)
  11. Mods, not sure which is the correct forum, hope you will kindly move this thread if I have posted in the wron section. Thanks! Hey guys, I returned to Pattaya with 3,200 Philippine Pesos, in 500s, 100s, 50s and 20s. Any one heading to the Phils and wants a few pesos for on arrival expenses, send me a PM. I'll give you the market rate for Thai Baht. Thanks! I'm in Pattaya now until early November
  12. ^ Nah, I always go to Pattaya to pay three times the local price for a surly, self absorbed girl from Uzbekistan that passes her self off as Russian. Oh, and when I want a Thai ladyboy, I fly to Moscow :) I posted that on another board and got flamed to the max. Apparently some punters think hunting Russian babes in Thailand is the thing to do. A fool and his money... PS- I'd pay a sexy Ruskie 1,000 baht for a nice ST, but I wouldn't pay a premium :)
  13. Not to be overly negative but I don't think the bars give a rat's ass; step aside Sunny, there is a new Dumb Ass, er Customer walking through the door. I've even read posts by a few members that have essentially alluded that if there is a problem its because customers don't understand Thai culture and/or ladyboys have a difficult life. The Thais stick together and many foreigners side with them as well. What ever... I think one has to have a great sense of humor and not take things too seriously. Having said that, there are a couple of Pattaya bars that I'll never set foot in because they treated me poorly while management was present- and didn't lift a finger. There is no point in naming and shaming because it would be ten to one, in the vein of "I've been to that bar hundreds of times and I've never had a problem; I've never seen any one else have a problem and you are the first to ever allege to have a problem. What is your problem? 555!
  14. Them that asks, gets :) I like Pinay LBs; but I'm not willing to pay a premium for them. I pay a Pinay LB the same as I would a Thai LB. If they act indignant, I thank them kindly and walk away. Too many fish in the sea diba? :)
  15. Yeah I remember 'Questionable Girls of Thailand.' That was the first LB board I ever participated in. There was a meet up at the then 'Big Dogs, first bar on the left as you enter Nana Plaza, around 2003. Lavender Chaps, Lion Racing and a few other guys were there. We chatted a bit, then did a bar crawl at NEP. Damn I never planned on staying here this long, 555!
  16. I'm surprised that the market is reacting so negatively- but markets always hate uncertainty. I don't have a dog in this fight, I'm just an observer. The referendum does seem extremely close and it ain't over until the fat lady sings :)
  17. My observations are: 1 Yeah PD is an easy to like, laid back, chilled out guy. 2 Seems like most of the posters here 'qualified men' in the vein of most are experienced and know what they are talking about. 3 LBR is more welcoming and less 'cliquey' than other boards. Some boards have a core of posters that pretty much dominate the forum- and woe be the one to disagree with the 'Brain Trust' :) 4 The posters on LBR seem more objective; if there is a problem at a bar or with a girl, the guys here seem to tell it like it is. Well, that's my two satang :) Lance out!
  18. ^+1 Thanks for sharing Hefe. After 10+ years of jungle humidity and rain, I'm ready for some desert living :)
  19. Yeah, I eat at many local food stalls and they always give me the Thai price. I've also had some success at National Parks by presenting my Thai DL and asking for the Thai price. If they refuse me, I thanks them (that throws 'em) and try to enter at another gate, or just plain walk away. The problem -as well all know- is pure greed. If Wat Po had kept a nominal 20 to 30 baht entry fee for foreigners, most visitors wouldn't bat an eye and pay up. I read one in an older Lonely Planet that one National Park started with a 5 baht entry fee, obviously that goes back a few years. Well once the locals realized that foreigners would pay up, the fee went to 100, then doubled to 200, then doubled again at 400. Wonder if they will give 800 a shot, 555. Greed is the crack cocaine of Thailand, the locals just can't do enough to rip off tourists. But why not, when even many farangs are apologists for dual pricing. Beam me up Scotty...
  20. I had some mouse problems (not responding to commands) and I resolved it by uninstalling all of my USB Hubs and turning the lap top off. The USB Hubs were reinstalled when I restarted the PC. Needless to say, my mouse was a wired model that connected to a USB port. But I know just enough about computers to be dangerous, so YMMV :)
  21. This was posted on TV yesterday: TAT plans to extend visa stay for tourists to raise revenue BANGKOK, 28 August 2014 (NNT) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is considering adopting some measures to maximize tourism revenue, including extending visitors’ visa stay, as this year’s earning is likely to be lower than targeted. TAT Governor Thawatchai Aranyik estimated that Thailand’s income from tourism this year will miss its 2.2-trillion-baht target, accumulating to 1.9 trillion baht, divided into 705 billion baht from foreigners and 1.2 trillion baht from locals. At the same time, the number of foreign visitors could be about 25.5 million, a drop of 3.34 percent compared to the goal of 28 million. Snip! I'd say the Thais have love/hate feelings about foreign tourists. Yeah they love our money and praise being heaped on the country. Foreigners visiting temples and gushing about Thai cuisine is the desired script; however, they are a conservative society and not all are amused with the goings on in tourist areas. But trillions of baht is still trillions of baht :) (And to think that many folks still believe that tourisim is s tiny part of the over all Thai economy...)
  22. I pretty much know in about two minutes if I want a girl. Having said that I often buy a drink for a girl that is good company- but I have no intention of bar fining. I figure that they have to make a living, plus it drives the stuck up girls crazy when we are laughing and enjoying our selves. You can just see the gears turning: "Why he buy drink for her. I beautiful more than she, why he do like this?!?"
