I guess you really never know how good your coverage is until you need it. Back on my first trips I lacked a lot of intestinal fortitude and naively went without any coverage. Then I saw a news magazine show about people who had travelled specifically to Thailand and were injured and their insurance didn't cover them for various reasons. A few of the things they did such as riding motor scooters I had done plenty of times. So I started researching companies. I was talking to a girl I worked with and she mentioned how her sister broke her leg while travelling and her insurance company (World Nomads) was great about it. I started using them and about 15 policy's in I had my first claim and it was a big one. I was travelling in North America which along with Japan are the highest rates through World Nomads. Anyway I had these stomach pains that would subside but each episode was getting longer. After one kept me up in pain all night I went to the emergency room. They knew something was up because I was turning yellow (early jaundice) from liver, I was admitted and had to have two surgeries for gallbladder removal. Emergency room, and 5 nights later I was discharged with a $93,000 bill. They were after my insurance company while I was still in hospital high off my ass on pain killers. My flight back to Australia was in 6 days after I was discharged and the Dr. didn't recommend me taking it. I didn't want to test my insurance on rescheduling and staying later. On my return the insurance company was contacting me about the claim. The hospital offered them to pay $55,000 within 2 weeks and the World Nomads jumped on that. My only cost was a $100 deductible. My pain killers after discharge were more than that and that was part of the claim. Needless to say I have kept using them. I like the piece of mind I get through them, and wouldn't travel without. They also allow multiple trips on same policy if it's to my advantage which I've done a few times now when I have multiple trips within a short period of time. Like always when I return they send me an email asking if I have any claims. I've heard of problems with travel insurance through a credit card that a trip was paid for and I wouldn't rely on that alone ever now. Policies aren't that much really when you look at the consequences. With World Nomads you can take up to a year insurance out. The longest policy I did was 7 months and the policy was around $500 AUD. I'm sure there are plenty of good one's out there, but I'm going with the one that has proved itself to me. My last trip I extended my stay by 8 days. I went online through their site and extended my date by the 8 days and it was done at no extra charge, which was a relief after paying the change of air ticket costs.

I had two stretches in BKK back in November shortly after Why Not had opened. They were still getting their act together at that point. However I noticed that each night the bar seemed to get better. They were adding new talent, and more customers coming in each night. The girls seemed to really appreciate me returning to the bar each visit. There are a lot of factors working against a possible return to Soi 4 Rajah Complex location. The landlords are trying to quadruple the rent as they further homogenise Nana area and lower Sukhumvit. The project in Rajah is trying to cater to global restaurant chains who can afford the higher rents. The only hope for the a bar or ladyboy returning to this area is if they cannot lease out the new buildings/space and lower the rents. Otherwise Chaos 9 or any bar would be working for the landlords. If International chains don't come in the money launders may. A glum outlook and an invasion of our mongering space as Bangkok continues to change. Signage calling for renters. Artist rendition of what they hope the property to look like upon completion, which is surely behind schedule..A closer look at the rendition has a International food court. Not exactly the best for a ladyboy to succeed and doubtful the landlords want any of the bars back. Strikers has moved down Soi 4 in front of Nana Hotel. P' Beer is gone, and Chaos 9 has moved to Soi 22 Queens Park Plaza. Hillary Bar which was out front has probably looked for a new location to open or consolidated with their other bars.
